Yay! Fingers crossed that you'll be heading this way soon. I hate the way that house ownership is soooo limiting. I was desperate to move a few years ago - I was suffering from mild PND at the time and the house was a big contributor - but we simply couldn't sell and then when we did there was nothing suitable. At the same time a neighbour who rented moved to a new place in less than 3 weeks - no major hassle. I was so jealous at the time but I know long term it's not ideal.

Good luck!

Steppy1 · 09/08/2006 17:19

Finally....we'll be moving near to West Pennard so any inputs anybody has on preschools, activities etc wold be most greatfully appreciated !

joelallie · 10/08/2006 11:53

Yay! Don't really know West Pennard but it's near Glastonbury/Street isn't it?. Sorry can't help much but glad you're sorted. Have you sold your house yet?

Activites wise - if your kids are old enough there is an Iron Age village (v small one has to be said) on the Levels not far from you. Can't remember the name - quite interesting for older kids. I'll try to find some details. Glastonbury rural life museum is good and free...and in Glasto but I guess you worked that out . The whole area is great for cycling being so flat and having so very quiet roads. There's a wildlife reserve at Westhay with some hides - never seen anything rare afaik but not exactly experts anyway. You know about Greenbank already and presumably Clarks Village?

I know nothing about preschools in that area - sorry.

Steppy1 · 11/08/2006 13:42

havn't sold our house...but decided to rent it out instead....Looks as if we'll be moving beginning of October, just in time for the hurricanes and storms of Autumn & Winter !!! Yep, know about street outlet mall and Greenbank (which we love !!) printed a list of preschools in the area for DD whose, 3 1/2 which include Pilton, Baltonsborough and Glastonbury of course..suddenly seems so much to do !!

Steppy1 · 14/08/2006 08:29

October 12th is aimed for moving date !!!

PadmeP · 26/08/2006 14:53

Hi all, thought I'd introduce myself as I'm in Somerset too (Glastonbury to be precise!) Expecting my first baby any minuite now so thought it would be nice to meet some other online Mum's in the area.
BTW - what's greenbank?

fransmom · 05/09/2006 23:44

joelallie · 06/09/2006 12:57

PadmeP - Greenbank is the open air swimming pool in Street. Very nice if the weather is up to it. I think it might be shut for the winter now. Not sure.

fransmom · 08/09/2006 20:16

bump

Steppy1 · 11/09/2006 09:43

Hi ALl...move date is now set (I think !!!) looks as if we'll exchange at the beginning of October then complete on 12th - I'm superstitious and refuse to complete on Friday 13th October !!! Anyway, we;ll actually move lock, stock and barrell the follow week on the Thursday as this fits in with 1/2 terms etc for my little ones. In the meantime, DD is registered for Pilton Playgroup and we'll be planning a "visit day" to both schools before we move so DS and DD have at least been to where they're going to be when they start back after the Autumn half term....Still really excited about moving..now looking at all of the packing..and starting to hope that the little ones will settle into their new schools at end of October.....

twocatsonthebed · 11/09/2006 16:34

afternoon everyone - I'm over in Shepton, so not a million miles from West Pennard, steppy1. And PadmeP - I'm also expecting first in six weeks time, so would love to meet people in the same situation!

Mummymelling - where are you - there's also a Bath meet up thread and a few people from there on here.

mummymelling · 20/09/2006 18:04

little village just outside of Bath, near Radstock, cant find the Bath meet up thread??

yeahinaminute · 20/09/2006 18:14

Hi mummymelling - I'm from Bath and so is Intergalacticwalrus - we met up a couple of weeks back (2 days before she had DS2!!) in Bath for a coffee and a natter - looking at meeting again in a couple of weeks - we are though organising a trip to Cardiff on the 30th Sept to see Chris Corcoran ( doodle - do guy from Cbeebies) in Stand up as we have an absolute crush on him ... so if you fancy joining us sad deluded creatures ??!!

We'll keep you posted on the next meet - it'll be sometime soon.

Are you in Paulton/Peasdown area ??

mummymelling · 20/09/2006 18:25

Peasedown though i hate to admit it, but hopefully moving to norton in the nearish future lol

yeahinaminute · 20/09/2006 18:32

Oh come on - it's not that bad ... although it was in a Top 5 funny town names once !!

Luckymetwins · 21/09/2006 18:46

Hi Mummymelling I used to live in peasdown (what they call the "new bit" it was quite nice Old peasedown has a bit of a bad name so I've heard but I don't know.

I live in Paulton now so not far, I've met up with 2 other mum s from bath but not found anyone local to me.

How old are your children?

mummymelling · 22/09/2006 11:20

Hi Lucky, ive got 4 and one on the way, ranging from 19 to 2 , all boys and this ones due in May, maybe Norton would be better for a meet, rather than trudging into Bath??

joelallie · 22/09/2006 12:33

Ooh ooh! I used to work in Paulton when Great Mills HQ was there!!! Used to go for long walks in my lunch hour and used to go shopping in the co-op in Radstock

Luckymetwins · 22/09/2006 12:34

I have twin boys who are 2, will they will be on the 1st of Oct (can't believe where the time has gone) wow 5 children, my Sister is currently cooking up her 5th she has all girls and so is the one in her tum , she is about 6 mths now.

Not sure where to go in MSN, do you ever go to Pandamonium (sp?) my two are manic so need to go somewhere safe they can't escape

joelallie · 22/09/2006 12:35

Steppy - is all going to plan? Don't envy you the move though - I've just sorted the boys' bedroom out a bit and it took me hours! Can't imagine sorting the whole house........Hope it's going well.

mummymelling · 22/09/2006 15:25

Lucky..My Ds will be 5 on the 1st october..coincidence lol, i havent yet been to pandamonium, but a girl at school said they do a cheap day on weds for toddlers, i was thinking of taking my DS who was 2 in august this week ,now the kids are in school fulltime[from next mon] so im not rushing up and down from norton to psj and back again etc etc
