Experts - what happens if someone I don't know asks to be my friend - is it rude to decline or ignore them or is it OK to do that? Is there a Facebook etiquette?

Frank - I am very jealous. I had a meeting yesterday right at the time the torch was going through Merton.

married It is perfectly acceptable to not accept a friend request. If you don't know the person then you can check on the list in the group for their MN name and decide whether to accept or ignore. If the name isn't on the list then definitely decline! I think posters are just looking forward to meeting up so it seems a natural progression to "add a friend" from the fb group. But you don't have to, especially if you have created an account purely for the purposes of the meet up.

Married I agree with Elephants - if you don't know them from the group, don't add them. And even if they are in the group but you don't want to share things with them - don't add them.

What you put into FB is what you get out. If all you want it for is to get you through this meet up - you are in the group now, which is what you need. Make no friends, share no statuses/statii or pictures and you don't have to worry about anything. If you want to keep it going after the meetup, take it slowly, read your news feed and see what other people are sharing.

I'm adding everyone - as I have a FB account just for MN friends, so I don't know very many of them at all, but I only post things on there I'd post on MN anyway. But if people don't accept me as their FB is full of their real life, i'm not going to be insulted. :)

Met up with a friend today. She came to job share with me last year whilst colleague went on maternity leave and we became friends. We were talking about which Saurdays in Sept when we were going to be free to go out as a foursome with our DH's and I said the 29th was a no no. She said oooh are you meeting up with your college friends again, yes I say . I hate lying but since I have known her I have done Shiney meet ups and two London ones she would be if I said I was meeting a load of women off t'intenet.

When we go out with them I have to warn DH not to mention MN

Message for all - I now have full facebook access - it's all set up properly now and I think I'b beginning to understand how to do it. I have made a complete arse of myself over the last week or so posting in the wrong place with daft messages , not understanding where posts were going. But I am now on my way to mastering it[hopeful emoticon]. I even rekindled an old account I had set up to try to monitor dd and it was buzzing - just buzzing with those to whom I smile and nod and made me understand a bit better about how it should all look. Not quite sure how it happened but the Mnet one all seems properly set up too.

In the process have deleted all the photos on my mobile phone, trying to feline outfat Sylvester!! But I got there in the end. God help the kids from now on . Will try not to appear so stoopid from now on. Have learnt more about facebook, digital photos and my phone in a week than in the last three years. The lady in the o2 shop has been sooooooooo helpful - as has FrankWippery (vvvvvvv patient) who no doubt thinks I am nuts.

If I can do it, anyone can do it Cointrea I thought I could when I said that last time !! Right, now where are we going - am I brave enough after mucking up facebook so long .......................
