Media request: has your political allegiance shifted to Reform?

RhiannonEMumsnet · 05/01/2026 13:39

Hi there,

We've received the following media request.

Thanks,
MNHQ

I'd like to speak to women from Mumsnet whose political allegiances have changed to Reform in recent times. Ideally they would be willing to be named and pictured (in a piece for the Telegraph). Please contact [email protected] if you are interested.

I actually think there’s a story on here about how the Times shit wasn’t real.

Ds is a journalist…….. on national media

Smokeybacon72 · 06/01/2026 17:55

No chance, still in possession of my brain. Would rather vote for my cat, who is now sadly sleeping forever.

bluesky9 · 06/01/2026 17:56

Zero chance. I don't like racist emperors wearing no clothes.

I like Jill, and follow her on Twitter. If she''s reading - Jill I think the story here is the women who are politically homeless. As another poster on another thread about this said - surely people who don't want to vote Labour and are not keen on Reform would be registering a protest vote - in which case why is the 'other' line not increasing? Why do NONE of the political parties appeal to women now?

This.

I've voted Labour in the past, and Tory and Lib Dem.

I'm what they call a floating voter but feel politically homeless now as none of those parties seem worth voting for and neither do Reform. They are all so disappointing.

ElizaMulvil · 06/01/2026 18:23

Reform - incompetent, racist, now attracting the incompetent remnants of the Conservative party, .....going on lying fascists. So no, no chance in hell I'd ever vote for them.

MiniPantherOwner · 06/01/2026 18:24

Maybe the next "research" using AI to scrape data from MN could look at how many of the Reform supporters have names that sound like a What3Words location compared to non-reform supporters. It seems a very strange coincidence that none of them have joined us on this thread.

Also so many of these posts have made me laugh, I miss the laugh emoji (although I understand why it had to be removed).

BIossomtoes · 06/01/2026 18:40

There’s certainly a wonderful array of things people would rather do than vote Reform. The tit in a mousetrap gets my vote, that really made me laugh.

CandlelitKitchen · 06/01/2026 18:42

@MiniPantherOwner I just had a post deleted for saying pretty much what you have.

Owmyelbow · 06/01/2026 18:43

I may be politically homeless, but i6d vote tactically if it kept a fascist party from power.

I just saw that - I hope you noticed the ❤️ before it disappeared.

That is unfair. A poster on another thread was going on about left wing bots and didn't have their post deleted.

They’ve made me laugh too.

Left tit in a mousetrap.😂😂

Feels like when MN used to be a nice place instead of this weird fascist wormhole it is now.

Lonelycrab · 06/01/2026 18:59

So come on;

Do we have any longstanding MN users with a recognisable username that have switched allegiance to reform?

If, as these newspapers claim it’s happening widespread surely these genuine MN profiles can say that they have done this here? Sure, the majority on this thread haven’t, but at the end of the day this is an anonymous forum so come on, regular MN posters, why not speak out?

Friendlygingercat · 06/01/2026 19:08

I voted Reform in the GE because of their hard line policies on immigration. I am a lifelong conservative voter - always to the right of the party. But now that the conservatives are toughing up their policies I am likely to drift back to the tories. I would cut my throat with a rusty saw rather than vote labour - or appear in the popular press.

SwirlingAroundSleep · 06/01/2026 19:09

I spent my whole live voting ‘anti-Tory’ and would now position myself as ‘anti-reform’ because they’re right wing fascists. I’d vote in the Tories and even Sinn Fein if it stopped racist reform!

Wednesdaysotherchild · 06/01/2026 19:12

Hell no, detest the fvckers! My EU national partner and baby son are not a political scapegoat.

TheMorgenmuffel · 06/01/2026 19:13

I'm not a rabid bigot, so no.

Couldn't have put it better.

Mmmkaay · 06/01/2026 19:37

Nyeaccident · 06/01/2026 11:05

Please don't mistake us being frustrated with Labour as a willingness to vote for a bunch of fascists.

Exactly this.

goldenplacemat · 06/01/2026 19:40

I would never vote reform.

shggg245 · 06/01/2026 20:30

No way - populist nonsense.

I think you're right. What is the point of AI data scraping the internet if many of the posts are from bots and trolls?

Do the Telegraph actually do real journalism anymore?

💯 This. Let's have some real journalism and politics that respects women. Except they're all too keen on painting MNers as "karens". Then bleat on about misogyny being rampant as if they're not perpetuating it.
