Does anyone want to join me? I have been paleo on and off for years and recently keep falling off the wagon. I have decided 21days strict paleo to get me back on track is the way to go. I have a wedding to go to in 20 days and a holiday soon after. Must do this!

The rules for me are only paleo foods but also no nuts (can't control them). I am going no fruit too just for the 21 days. Masses of veg though!

How has your first day been wiifit?

I am trying to lose weight for a wedding too, my latest effort is a 10 min solution HITT dvd which has just arrived from Amazon so going to add that in tomorrow. I really feel I want to eat this way but keep falling off the wagon, not sure what the solution is ither than keep getting back to it as soon as pos.

A few of us are on this thread if you want to join us www.mumsnet.com/Talk/low_carb_diets/2110448-paleo-for-weightloss.

Three days down and lost 3.5 pounds so feeling good! Every time I have restarted, I have not made it past a few days, so I need to stick with it for longer this time. I walk 4-6 miles a day for exercise, but should also be doing some HIIT and core work. Haven't quite managed to restart that yet though!

Oh well done wiifit that's great! Haven't started the HITT dvd yet we have had nits and tummy bugs in our house the past couple of days {grimace}

BreakingBod · 14/08/2014 19:58

Good luck Wiifit I really really want to ditch the carbs but never manage more than a couple of days - I'm psyching myself up to give it another try, going to be really organised in advance this time. Giving yourself a target of 21 days is a great idea.

Wiifitmama · 14/08/2014 20:00

Day 4 down! I printed off 21 circles numbered 1-21 inside and stuck them on the fridge. I colour in one each day to help me see that I am doing well Blush It works!

love it .. like a weight loss advent calender Grin Have you seen this thread ... eeek www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/2157682-How-can-I-lose-10lbs-before-my-holiday-on-er-Monday?pg=1 the weird thing is the crash diets include bread but on one it is protein bread.

Wiifitmama · 14/08/2014 21:33

Yes! Exactly like an advent calendar except instead of chocolate, you get weight loss each day :)

So far so good for me. I think if i can get through the week, I can get through the 21 days. I have gone really hardcore this time and it helps.

Wow well done wiiffit!!

FavadiCacao · 19/08/2014 10:12

Wow, that's really good. Well done Wiifit! :)

yumyum, finally got round to read the 'lose 10lbs' thread. It had me in stitches 'til gone 10 last night, my tummy still hurts this morning Grin. It has left me strangely motivated- despite having gained 2lbs but misteriously lost an inch of waist and hips and 1/2'' of thigh since Saturday. Confused
It also brought back some mostly good memories of my first ever diet (Scarsedale), which my mother put me on at age 16 for having 'balooned'(I think she may have said baleened!Grin) from 55kg to 58kg during a summer holiday, eating the most delicious artisan bread.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/08/2014 11:34

Favadi Grin I know I am seriously being swayed from the path of health to sod it I just want to be skinny.....

Skarsdale certainly sounds like a serious diet doesn't it?

Having said that 6lbs in a week ....maybe I should do a paleo cleanse... easier than shitters tea I may have had a sneaky look at the herbal tea when doing my online order this morning!!!

yumyumpoppycat · 19/08/2014 11:44

your clearly losing fat and gaining muscle there fav ... nods wisely

FavadiCacao · 19/08/2014 11:57

The Scarsedale was really easy. You can eat as much as you like of the foods 'prescribed' and it satisfies most the diets: it's low cal, low fat, low carb, low taste, no white carb, no sugar and you can even tweak it to be no dairy, high fat (just omega 3); I'm sure if we put all meals in a blender it will be a smoothie diet too!And most days it feels like a fast diet! Grin But...it does not meet the water fast requirements! :)

I must look at the paleo cleanse...any easier link than the 124 page PDF?

FavadiCacao · 19/08/2014 12:00

Sorry I was to busy laughing...at the scarse diet!
clearly losing fat and gaining muscle...one can only hope!

yumyumpoppycat · 19/08/2014 12:27

heaves at thought of scarsdale smoothie ....

Oh yes is there a link wiifit?

FavadiCacao · 19/08/2014 12:37

This is the one I found.

So sorry about the multiple typos today (I've been reading about the new ol' trend of the torture corsets in Italy, in Italian).
I'm not sure I like the idea of a 'Scars' diet anymore than a 'Scarse' diet! Confused

yumyumpoppycat · 19/08/2014 12:43

I know what you mean all very torturous, I think my typo was an improvement, I prefer it spelt with a k!

cripes to corsets I have enough trouble wriggling into spanx.

FavadiCacao · 19/08/2014 13:00

I think wriggling would be allowed with one of these; breathing might be an extra. Grin

Wiifit, I take my hat off. That is very tough going. I would really struggle to give up the nightshades and eggs right now.

Wiifitmama · 20/08/2014 19:52

No no! Still eating nightshades and eggs! They are both Paleo. They are only excluded if you have autoimmune issues.

I am eating all veg (not potatoes, sweet potatoes, plantain, etc), barely any fruit( handful of berries if available), minimal nuts (a small handful once a week maybe), any meat (but keeping in mind that excess protein leads to glycogenisis so not eating to excess), upping my fat (cooking everything in coconut oil and applying olive oil liberally to salads), I don't eat breakfast a la intermittent fasting, no eating in the evening after dinner, no sugar or sugar substitutes, lots and lots of walking (no running for me due to meniscual tears).

Phew! That's it! And it is working!

yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2014 18:06

Wow wiifit I am really impressed, that is amazing discipline! How has this week been so far?

Wiifitmama · 21/08/2014 19:46

This week has been good thanks. Only lost half a pound so far, but my period is due so not too worried. I did however try on the dress for the wedding tonight and there is a definite tummy bulge! Oh dear :(. One more week til the wedding so not much chance of it being gone by then. I will just have to wear a strategic scarf :). I then have another week after the wedding until our big holiday which I really want to be able to comfortably fit into all my skinnier jeans for!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2014 19:57

In a way though optimum timing as your tummy will be much flatter next weekend! I think I am a dress size bigger ans 4 lb heavier leading up to p. love a scarf for hiding tummies.

Wiifitmama · 21/08/2014 20:44

I normally lose weight in the week leading up to my period which I think is why I had such a big loss last week.

All my sugar cravings have gone now which is fab! Took a week so it is definitely worth hanging in their for!

I need to lose another 7 pounds to goal but would be happy with 4 before the holiday.

OP posts:
FavadiCacao · 22/08/2014 10:38

A week can make a huge difference and 7lbs in 2 weeks should be doable as you are losing already. :)
Have you tried the dress with a control underslip? I had no problem taking my 'problem' dress around different shops to try it on with the tens of different styles.

Do you use an ab machine? (Total core would make a big difference in just 10 minutes/day)

Wiifitmama · 22/08/2014 20:22

I wear a tummy control thing everyday so tried the dress on with that. I have to wear one as I lost over 100 pounds and that leaves lots of loose skin and flab sadly that needs holding in. Did not help myself tonight by eating chips from a fish and chips shop. Was totally not my fault as had been out all day with 2 of the kids and and dh and went straight to show fromDs1 music course and finished late so picked up fish and chips for the kids to eat on the train home. No way could I sit there with a full bag of chips, doling them out to the iDisk without eating some! I am compensating by not eating any other dinner tonight. Not sure the scales will love me in the morning though!

As to core, I should do it. I have a whole exercise plan of core stuff from my physio (knee tears) but never do them! Oh dear!
