Hi californialiving,
Was just looking at the book today and considering giving it a go.
Are you doing it?

Drywhiteplease · 11/11/2013 22:57

Oh I did it 2 years ago on a thread here.....weight has stayed off. Lost 18lb. It was easy. A brilliant diet for me (meat lover, no sweet tooth). Need to be on a thread to keep motivated but Dukan has disappeared from Mn. Can give lots of tips.

Toppy · 12/11/2013 12:44

I started last week - need inspiration for quick easy recipes as am surviving on venison sausages and chicken with yoghurt and harissa spices.
Also not sure what to do with the bran - drywhite, did you make the galette ?

mistlethrush · 12/11/2013 12:45

DH has done it - and is still doing it - lost about 9st

He does 'spicy beefburgers' quite often - and in fact uses a lot of chillies even on meat days. The bran he eats with low fat yoghurt.

swlondonnanny · 12/11/2013 23:04

toppy I decided to start on fri so happy to share ideas once I start.
drywhite did you eat loads of yoghurt while on the diet? Or was it quite easy not to have it? Am generally trying to avoid diary as it doesn't agree with me but need to find some 'easy' foods which don't involve loads of planning and cooking.
Will really miss fruit once I start, already know that now...

Drywhiteplease · 13/11/2013 21:31

I ate lots of natural yogurt sorry Swlondonnanny can I call you SW? but I think you could manage without it.

Toppy I did make the galettes. Found they were great for breakfast and really filling with a tbsp cottage cheese on top. Take a while to master but you eventually get the hang of them and can make a load in advance. Add some smoked salmon trimmings (cheaper) and they are delicious with a squirt of lemon juice.

My big tip is On Sunday cook loads so your fridge is full of stuff for the week so if you get the munchies you have something you can grab:

Crab sticks
Sugar free jelly (for a sugar fix)
I adore cinnamon so add it and sweetener to nat yogurt.
Prawns, loads of cooked chicken breast, turkey mince meatballs. Cooked salmon.
Tuna " muffins" I eat these for breakfast, or really good for lunch at work, recipe below
Herbs to make stuff taste nice (lemon juice and mint, lime and Thai frozen herbs etc)
Dijon mustard with yogurt as a sauce...nice!

Tuna Muffins
I use a silicone muffin tin,well greased, 12 muffins.

2 tins tuna
600g fat free cottage cheese
6 eggs
12 tbsp oat bran
Grated zest of a lemon
Black pepper

Mix it all up, pile in tin. Cook 180C for 35/40 mins. Leave to cook.

Good luck everyone

Loveleopardprint · 15/11/2013 20:22

I have just started dukan it I am a bit concerned that all of the recipes have sweetener. I worry about the affects of this. Does this worry anyone else on dukan??

Loveleopardprint · 15/11/2013 21:10

Also dukan experts do you do alternating days of protein and protein+veg?

mistlethrush · 15/11/2013 21:11

Loveleopard - DH does alternating days. DH uses very little sweetener.

LittlePudding1 · 28/11/2013 23:03

Hi, I'm on day 3 of the dukan and have lost 3lbs so far.
I've tried loads of different diets and always put the weight back on so but have never gone low carb before. I really thought I'd miss pasta and bread but am actually missing veg!! Who'd have thought it!

I have got a headache and heartburn though and feel really thirsty. Is this normal?

Drywhiteplease · 03/12/2013 22:54

little drink loads of water. You get lots of fluids from fruit and veg, the first stage, pp, you will need to drink a lot. Well done on your weight loss.
love I did pp for a week! then pp/pv alternate days until I'd lost the weight I wanted. Then on to the more human consolidation phase....apples never tasted so good.

Californialiving · 03/01/2014 19:21

Hi everyone,

Are you all still on the dukan?

So after a crap fee months I have thought that this is the year for me. I need to look after myself. I'm so tired of not having my clothes fit properly, living in track pants and we'll feeling ugly. My 'love' handles are now fat handles. I've taken a picture of myself so it's there to motivate me when I want that chocolate or pasta.

So it's the second day and I down three pounds. I'm going to try and vary what I eat so I don't get bored. But boiled eggs in the morning are the easiest with kids! Tonight is dukan BBQ sauce slowed cooked with chicken!

It's the weekend and we are out so I need to plan ahead and have ideas for dinner. I know that if u just leave it, we end up having take out. Never good

Hi all,

Am on day 1 of Dukan! Oatbran galette and tuna with low-fat fromage frais dressing for breakfast, and we'll see how the rest of the day goes ...

I don't normally eat much meat and have a very sweet tooth and normally eat about 5 pieces of fruit per day so am in withdrawal!!

Also, I do like to exercise - currently have running injury but generally run 2 x and go to gym 3+ times a week. Is this ok when you have no carbs?!

Looking forward to hearing more about your experiences.

runningLou · 06/01/2014 13:28

Just had Activia 0% fat vanilla flavour yogurt after lunch and am now paranoid that I shouldn't have!! Am sure the book says flavoured yogurts are ok if fat-free but do they have too much sugar in?!

Californialiving · 07/01/2014 06:43

As long as they have no added sugar it's ok. Sweetener is fine!

I'm missing fruit like crazy! A crunchy apple. Or crunchy anything.

I'm trying to Vary the type of meat I eat, but I'm looking forward to adding in some vegetables! I have to wait till Thursday.

Working out is fine. Most people I know have started some type of LC and are exercising normally.

How did your first day go?

OP posts:
runningLou · 07/01/2014 13:33

I think there is a bit of added sugar, as well as sweeteners :( Will stay off them for the rest of attack! First day was ok, though found carb-cravings harder in the evening!
Today just seem to have no appetite at all. I guess protein is pretty much my least-favourite food group and I don't fancy anything!! Having quorn with cottage cheese this lunchtime.
How many days of attack are you doing?

Californialiving · 07/01/2014 20:46

I'm doing 7 days of attack. After Thursday I can have veggies again. But it helps to see the scale go down. It's been 4 days and I've lost 5 pounds! Whoo hoo!

The end of the day I always feel like something sweet. Have you tried the dukan porridge, crunchy cookie or granola? You can make it all at home and it just hits that spot.

How long is your attack?

OP posts:
BigFatGoalie · 07/01/2014 21:58

Also on dukan, did it a year ago to lose the last 8lbs of baby weight and got carried away and dropped to 108lbs...
So it WORKS!
This time will be more sensible. DH lost his baby weight of 3stone in two months. He's been roped in again this time and is already moaning on Day Two.
Today I ate:
0% Activia vanilla yogurt
Chicken breast and tuna for lunch and fat free yog
Biltong
Turkey slices Blush
Salmon, prawns and cottage cheese for dinner.
Am now paranoid about the yogurts?? Can someone remind me of the rules again please? I thought fat free, no sugar, no fruit pieces were ok?!

Californialiving · 07/01/2014 22:28

It's a little contradictory. Some people say the fructose in it isn't allowed. And you should really have plain fat free yoghurt and flavor and sweeten it yourself.

But most people are having them and still losing weight. I honestly can't be bothered to make my own flavored yogurt. So I have the ones with fructose in them
And am still losing weight.

OP posts:
runningLou · 08/01/2014 08:38

Wow, am so impressed by your loss so far! Have not lost an ounce :( But, am worried I chose the wrong week as am expecting my period any day, and also have been totally constipated since day 1!!
Am planning on doing 5 days of attack, so veggies on Saturday.
Where did you find the recipes for granola, porridge etc? Are they in one of the books? I have the Diet book and also the Life Plan one.
Enjoy your veggies today California! And congrats on your amazing loss, Goalie. What did you weigh initially? I have about 10 lbs to lose ...

Californialiving · 08/01/2014 20:08

The granola recipe

The eggs whites make it really crunchy and it's great in yogurt!

The dukaners website is great for recipes and I use it a lot!

TOM makes the weightloss slow down but you should see a big whoosh afterwards!Grin

I'm drinking so much water that I feel like I live in the bathroom!

Another pound down!

BigFatGoalie · 08/01/2014 21:25

Runninglou I've always been slim and look comfortable at about 112lbs. My problem is that 4lbs extra on me and you SEE a massive difference. So I went a little Dukan-Crazy and lost a bit more than I should have. My DM called me on it and so I went back to eating normally and having yummy treats and have been about 112lbs since. Christmas, however, was not my friend (three weeks of live-in guests, wine, herds of Lindt reindeers...) and I'm up a few lbs. Want to start TTC so want to lose the extra few lbs before I get a BFP.
I love Dukan as I'm good at following rules and the weight stays off. Oat bran galettes are brilliant, I usually add cottage cheese and sweetener so that they're like a sweet soggy biscuit.
You can also make them savoury, with egg and bacon for breakfast. DH was a bit Hmm at first but took them on the chin.
I googled Dukan Cookies last night and they look fantastic! Will definitely fill a carb craving if you need it.
Good luck everyone, nice to have some support.

runningLou · 09/01/2014 07:32

Day 4 of attack and have still not lost an oz and feel totally bloated, constipated, tired and really don't think this is the diet for me :(
