Morning everyone!

I hope that the first week went well - and I see we have a few new recruits which is great!

Here's the spreadsheet:

I see some good losses already, which is fantastic.

Have a good week everyone Flowers

@Wearenumpties to pick up on the points you made on the last thread, it's true that you have to be mindful. It's something that I always say - you don't need to count calories if you're keeping your carbs low, but that doesn't mean you can go mad!

It's also one of the reasons behind rule 4, which is to make sure you're getting plenty of veg/salad in your day, so that your plate(s) are just full of very high calorie foods.

Glad you no longer have to take steroids, and I hope your cold is better soon. There seems to be a lot of it around right now.

@LilyArmFlaps welcome! Link to the spreadsheet in my OP

@Thesoundofmusic23

Fingers crossed for you - well done on avoiding the alcohol! On the spreadsheet there are some carb counts for low/no alcohol lagers/beers, so it's worth checking them out. They vary hugely. It's easy to make a choice in the supermarket, but much harder if you're in a pub, I've found.

@Goodiewhemper your food sounds amazing! Sorry to hear about the pain though. Hopefully surgery will be soon and will fix everything.

If you're missing bread, it's worth checking out these people

https://srsly.health/

It's the best low carb bread I've found, especially for a sandwich.

@staytoxic I have 2 go-tos for breakfast - either yoghurt (Greek, 10% fat - not Greek-style) or eggs. Eggs in any form - boiled/hard-boiled with mayo/poached/scrambled/omelette. Always useful to have a couple of hard-boiled ones in the fridge.

If you can't face eggs, a continental-type breakfast can be great - sliced meats, cheese, and (after the first two weeks of Bootcamp) bit of fruit. Berries would be good.

It's best, though, not to think about breakfast as a special or different kind of meal. We have Mr Kellogg to thank for that!

Another option is leftovers from the previous night's dinner. Sometimes it tastes better the next day.

@SprinklesofRain just remember that nuts and seeds aren't allowed in the first two weeks of Bootcamp! (Although it's OK for vegetarians)

@shells it's very, very common to see weight loss slow down or stop after the first two weeks. Make sure you really are keeping your carbs low and check your portion sizes. Also, drinking the water really does help.

@Almahart welcome! I've added you to the spreadsheet.

Morning - so a 3lb loss for me. Based on daily weighing I was lower than that on Saturday so my Sunday celebrations did add a bit but I’m still pleased - a good start. Thanks @biwi for reminding me about the low alcohol beer carb count list. Very useful - I’m away this weekend too so will scour that for a good option,

Well done everyone for week one losses. Onwards and downwards.

@finallyhere I put my week two weight in the spread sheet but for some reason the maths isn’t carrying across for me so it’s not showing loss/ percentage. Hopefully an easy fix, thank you 🙏

Castlerigg · Yesterday 10:36

I just typed out a post but it somehow got lost when I tried to edit it. Long story short, I lost about a pound. Would have been more but I lapsed on Saturday. Yoghurt for breakfast today, HB eggs and cheese for lunch, something with broccoli for dinner.

Almahart · Yesterday 11:16

Thanks @BIWI!

I have had a strange sense of relief at being back on BC because it just switches all food noise off for me and I know that if I just follow the plan I will be back in my favourite jeans in 8 weeks. That said I will be away for a week in November with no chance of low carbing (vegan retreat) but that's okay, I might extend my own BC for a couple of weeks after this one finishes.

I've been having a cheese omelette cooked until it is a bit crispy with some cherry tomatoes in dressing for lunches and that has been good. Another standby for me is home made tomato soup made with shallots and tinned tomatoes with lots of extra cream. I think that might be a little carby though. Am a bit hazey about tomatoes.

KellyOnAHeli · Yesterday 11:18

A great week for me. 3lbs off. Now I’m half way to my goal of losing 6lbs this bootcamp!

BIWI · Yesterday 11:25

@Almahart tomatoes do vary - but generally they are aroun3-4g carbs per 100g.

When you make soup, if you use a whole can of tomatoes, and then eat all the soup yourself, that could be quite carby, as they work out at around 12-14g per can.

So it depends how much you're eating!

Checking in for week 2

SemmaLina · Yesterday 13:10

I’ve lost 3 lb !
Im very pleased , off on holiday on Wednesday though , so I’ll probably put them back on
Will restart on my return

WoolGatherer · Yesterday 14:48

Wow a week down and I’m feeling much better now I’m back on the wagon. Like others have said I find that LC mostly switches off the food noise and helps keep me on an even keel emotionally. Hopefully everyone else is experiencing the mellow low carb zen too :-)

I have three different part time jobs and all are busy at the moment so I was a bit worried about staying on track. My jobs are early start or late finish so it’s usually 2 packed meals a day. I’ve been eating a lot of frittata and home made curry … but it’s paying off cos I’ve lost just over 1.5kg.

I've succumbed to the lure of dark chocolate a couple of times 🫣 It’s always either 90% Lindt or 85% Mosser Roth (and never more than 2 sq a day) but it’s a habit I’m struggling to break. It’s not an excuse but all my jobs are in agriculture so they are very physical. Sometimes I just feel the need for a little treat when I get in cold and exhausted…

Not quite a pound down for me this week, but I'm really close to my goal weight (& peri 🙄).
Just over a pound to get to my 1st goal weight of 155lbs, then 5 more pounds to get to my ultimate goal.
I need to focus more on drinking water, as I've been so busy this last week, I was struggling to get it in. Time to make it a priority.

InMyLowCarbEra · Yesterday 16:08

Over 5lb down this week, very pleased. Granted these are 5lb that I already lost and gained in September but at least I’m back there again. Lovely roast pork and cauliflower cheese yesterday will translate into leftovers for tonight, always a bonus. Out in London today, but able to eat at Pret which is great for BC. Had a salmon protein plate and side soup. Just about to pick up DD who is sitting a university entrance exam today, it’s been a long, long afternoon waiting for her!

InMyLowCarbEra · Yesterday 16:11

Oops sorry meant to say well done for all the losses! 👏

venusandmars · Yesterday 17:57

@staytoxic soup for breakfast is amazing, especially now we're coming into the winter months. Chicken stock with tomato and basil for slightly warmer days; creamy mushroom for a cold winter morning (a pack of dried porcini is an excellent part of the mix).

Or avocado with s&p, olive oil and some grated cheese.

Eating leftovers today - cold chicken and coleslaw; garlic prawns with green veg. And slurping some chicken stock soup before it goes in the freezer.

staytoxic · Yesterday 19:11

Thanks for the breakfast suggestions everyone! I think I can get on board with the continental style meats and cheese, possibly not the soup 😂 LC is good for me switching off the sugar cravings. I even managed to avoid the biscuit tin at work which was laden with all my favourites. Definitely feeling fuller for longer too.

Aiming4Optimistic · Yesterday 20:23

Hi all,
2lb down for me - should have been more but had a bit of a lapse. Work is a carb laden Hell hole and I am a person used to stress eating biscuits!
Back on it now though. Bit peeved that all my fresh chicken thighs had a short use by date, which I didn't notice, so had to bin those tonight. They were meant to be for tomorrow's lunch at work.
I did make a lovely chicken soup with the leftover roast that I'd frozen.
Well done everyone on your loses.
I need to go through the recipe books again - I am a bit bored of low carb quiche or eggs.
Maybe a fish curry tomorrow.

Thesoundofmusic23 · Yesterday 20:29

Had a craving for steak tonight so had a bavette steak with a mound of steamed broccoli with garlic butter - delicious.

Had leftover chicken salad for lunch and eggs for breakfast.

Going to try and dig in this week and stay focused. Good luck for week two everyone.
