Jan '26 Low Carb Bootcamp - week 8: the end!

BIWI · 23/02/2026 08:43

Morning all.

Spreadsheet, for its final outing:

Hopefully, for those still here/persevering, it's been a successful couple of months.

One more week to see off another pesky pound (or two) - there will be a final thread next week, for the last weigh-in, and then we'll keep that thread running for ongoing chat/support/recipes, etc.

Good luck Flowers

I’ve put on a pound overnight, again! Strict this week. I boiled some eggs this morning, and the fridge is full of bootcamp-friendly stuff so there’s no excuse.

venusandmars · 23/02/2026 10:45

I've lost most of what I gained on holiday - another week should do it. Then 6 weeks before my next holiday so I am to remain on bootcamp lite for the whole of that time, with determination to pretty much avoid alcohol.

I generally don't eat breakfast but I'm going out for lunch today and the table booking isn't until 2pm. I had creamy coffee and a cheese omelette this morning to minimise the risk of arriving feeling ravenous and being tempted into making the wrong choices.

CointreauVersial · 23/02/2026 12:22

Morning.....or is it afternoon? Thanks for the new thread, BIWI.

1lb down today, but I don't seem to be making much meaningful progress at the moment, annoyingly. Nevertheless, I have successfully navigated my birthday and a few meals out without any weight gain, so that has to count as a small win. I'm going to continue boot camping as long as possible.

Cheesy omelette for breakfast today, then I have a leftover portion of chicken thighs stuffed with Boursin for lunch. Burgers in lettuce wraps for tea.

mumsandaunties · 23/02/2026 12:28

Afternoon all,
Well after three weeks in which the scales were stubbornly creeping up by a few ounces each time, I've managed to lose a couple of pounds again and am back within shouting distance of the 'full stone lost' milestone. I'll have to be very good this week...fortunately other than a work lunch tomorrow, I don't have much to tempt me.

KellyOnAHeli · 23/02/2026 13:17

Thank you for the new thread BIWI. I’ve stayed the same which I’m really pleased with after a week at an all-inclusive resort. I stuck to the right WOE but had no control over ingredients in sauces etc. I declined desserts. My portion sizes were much bigger than at home. And I got to do my helicopter ride. I didn’t get pulled aside to be weighed, I was so relived. And there was a chap much bigger than me who they let on. Back on bootcamp lite from today to keep moving onwards and downwards.

Almahart · 23/02/2026 16:57

Thanks for new thread. I'm down a tiny bit this morning. Nothing to do but koko!

Rayna37 · 23/02/2026 17:55

Thanks for the new thread and this bootcamp! I’m down another lb which surprised me after some half term indulgence. Less than a pound now to hit 9 stone which is great, except it shows I really had crept up as I’ve never been so far into a bootcamp and not well past that milestone! Definitely will stick around as I’d love another half a stone off.

I’m off to the City of Croissants tomorrow for a few days so will pick it all back up after that.

RightTurnClyde · 23/02/2026 19:50

Thank you for the new thread @BIWI

I'm another 1 pound down today and scales seem to have unstuck themselves. I'm happy with the 10lb I've lost so far as I've not counted anything or gone hungry, and I'm planning to KOKO after this week.

Jumperorcardi · 23/02/2026 20:22

Thanks for the new thread @BIWI , i was down 1/2 a pound on Saturday, but it was back by the time I weighed today, so hoping it will be off for good by next week. Hoping for a really good last week and will then stay on the thread as well.

Loving the new name @KellyOnAHeli Did you enjoy your trip?

I was out for lunch - had mushroom fricasse with artichokes, followed by salmon, leeks, lemon butter sauce. Disappointingly the menu had no more green veg in the 'sides' options, in fact the only non-carb choice was mushrooms (which I'd chosen as a starter). The piece of salmon was huge so I brought almost half of it home. Didn't want another meal after all that so I had 'shoogled' spouts for supper. And lots of water.

Tomorrow will be something with leftover salmon!

I had a great time @venusandmars- I love eating lots of fish on holiday as I find it difficult to cook it well, and I expect that helped me not put on weight.

SprinklesofRain · 24/02/2026 09:28

Sorry, I went AWOL last week, it has been a very tricky couple of weeks (Dad hospitalised and it looked as though we might lose him at one point, Mum needing a lot of support, sibling being as much use as a chocolate teapot) and I have succumbed to the fuckits (AKA meal deals). I will keep my head down this week too as we have a family birthday and two meals out but I am right back on it after that as it has been working well for me, will probably switch back to full BC rules for a week. If I don't post again this week I'd like to say thanks to all of you. I have done BC in the past and never got past about week 4 without turning into a moaner and sloping off which means I am using a totally different name for these threads through embarrassment.

Almahart · 24/02/2026 09:57

That sounds tough @SprinklesofRain. I hope things are a little easier now Flowers

BIWI · 24/02/2026 10:15

Sorry to hear that @SprinklesofRain - we're always here if you need to vent Flowers

Thanks, he's ok-ish now but I reckon I spent 20+ hours visiting/travelling/supporting Mum last week on top of 4 days work and running around after my own family. Some of the good habits from the BC have stuck though such as black coffee, overnight no-oat oats, cottage cheese or babybels as snacks, but there has been too much eating on the hoof. Will menu plan for a re-set at the weekend.

Almahart · 24/02/2026 18:08

This diet requires a fair amount of planning doesn't it, so real life will sometimes get in the way. You've done amazingly to stick to cheese as snacks, I am pretty sure I would have had my head in the jaffa cakes.

DryWhiteagainW · 24/02/2026 22:16

Marking place. Thank you BIWI.
sticking to BC proper for a bit.
Spanish chicken with plenty of olives tonight. Yumm

The meal deals may have had other snacks and I I have had toast once or twice Blush. But between meals it has largely been cheese or salami. No alcohol either but milk has slipped back into my cups of tea. I nipped into Costco at the weekend and bought big bags of babybels and small mixed cheeses as they are so handy. Plus big bags of almond flour, milled flax seed and frozen cooked chicken breasts.

TeamToeBeans · 25/02/2026 09:17

I’m being strict this week, I’m 146lb today, and my next mini target is to get below 145, and stay there. I’ve been taking sliced chicken and salad leaves for my work lunches, I just wrap a few leaves in a slice of chicken and roll it up to eat. A couple of those with a hard boiled egg and a Babybel is a decent lunch for me. I had lapsed back into milk in my coffee, but I bought some cream so will have creamy coffee later. It feels quite luxurious, like a treat.

CointreauVersial · 25/02/2026 09:27

@SprinklesofRain sorry to hear you've had a tough week. So difficult to negotiate supermarket takeaway lunch options and still eat low carb - I find it so irritating that every takeaway salad option seems to be stuffed with pasta, potato, rice etc..... My go-to is usually a plain side salad (usually found in the salad/veg section) with a small pack of marinated prawns dumped on top, or some packet ham/salami. Waitrose do a nice ready-made prawn cocktail.

@KellyOnAHeli yay, you made it onto the heli! I've never been on one - was it scary?

I've been making the right choices this week; I had DD2 home unexpectedly, but she loves salmon, so that's what we had for dinner, with heaps of sauteed cabbage (she had noodles as well). Tonight she has requested chicken fajitas, so those iceberg lettuce wraps will be out again....

KellyOnAHeli · 25/02/2026 17:40

@SprinklesofRain sorry for your loss. It’s no surprise you’ve been derailed.

@CointreauVersial the helicopter ride was a bit scary - I’m not great with heights- but still enjoyable.

My scales are currently showing 2lb down this week - I guess I’d built up some carb reserves on holiday that are now being depleted as I’m eating really sensibly this week.

Almahart · 26/02/2026 09:04

Down by a pound so far this week. I've now got 8.5 to go, I am thinking I'll go on for another four weeks aiming for a couple of pounds a week. I've lost 7ibs now and can see the difference in my face mainly. I can do up my favourite jeans but I wouldn't want to sit down in them Grin

I'm not being as strict as I have been on previous bootcamps but it does feel more sustainable.

I haven't ruled out a spate of ubercamp at some point!

BIWI · 26/02/2026 10:30

I'm not being as strict as I have been on previous bootcamps but it does feel more sustainable.

This is the key though @Almahart - the strictness of Bootcamp isn't something you want to be living with all the time. And trying to do that only leads to feelings of deprivation, resentment and then a strong case of the 'fuckits'!

It sounds like what you're doing is working for you, which is really good and really important.

Yes, I have previously had dramatic weight loss on BC but found it hard to stay low carb in maintenance. I feel like I'll be able to sustain my current woe more easily

KellyOnAHeli · 26/02/2026 17:48

@Almahart what does uberkamp involve? I’m intrigued.
