Jan '26 Low Carb Bootcamp - week 8: the end!

BIWI · 23/02/2026 08:43

Morning all.

Spreadsheet, for its final outing:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gsWvWpGzTSJld1avBi9-uLJveFZes9Qa2ORKthPMl8E/edit?gid=1415293539#gid=1415293539

Hopefully, for those still here/persevering, it's been a successful couple of months.

One more week to see off another pesky pound (or two) - there will be a final thread next week, for the last weigh-in, and then we'll keep that thread running for ongoing chat/support/recipes, etc.

Good luck Flowers

@KellyOnAHeli if you look at the spreadsheet it is one of the tabs - you have to scroll along a little to find it. It is effective and actually not that hard. Three days iirc

Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn’t spotted that. It looks like
normal meals - is it just that the veg are particularly low carb?

Almahart · 26/02/2026 21:04

Yes, they're just very low carb meals

venusandmars · 26/02/2026 23:49

With no snacks.
Just what there is on the list.

Maybe (at some time) after the end of this bootcamp some of us could post to have a 3 day ubercamp???

RightTurnClyde · 27/02/2026 06:01

I'm up for a few days ubercamp @Almahart !

I seem to have found my groove this bootcamp after a few unsuccessful attempts lately. I haven't been quite as strict every day, but I've ways got back onto the wagon and here I am 10lb down. I want to lose another 16lb however, so will try to persevere.

Well done for coming back @SprinklesofRain that sounds like you've had an incredibly difficult time, and it would have been easy to give up altogether.

Almahart · 27/02/2026 07:11

10ibs! Well done. How about a Monday start for ubercampers. I've been snacking an awful lot. Would be good to have company to keep me accountable

TeamToeBeans · 27/02/2026 07:18

I’d join the ubercampers. I’ve lost 8lbs doing bootcamp, which I’m delighted with, but want to lose more.

KellyOnAHeli · 27/02/2026 08:35

I’ll join in Ubercamping from Monday too!

Almahart · 27/02/2026 09:15

Let's do it!

SprinklesofRain · 27/02/2026 14:57

Thanks all for your kind words, DF did pull through but is frailer than ever and back in his nursing home, he ended up with two different lots of IV ABs which would take it out of anyone. It has been a difficult time. Then this week we had a takeaway curry and I was good and just had curry and a veg side but was then ill in the night (at least that was a bit of weight off). So feeling tired and out of sorts to say the least. I didn’t know about the ubercamp either but do need a bit of a re-boot. I’m still about half a stone down overall, which is pleasing as I haven’t been super strict and the last couple of weeks really have been a mess. But most importantly I am still here, this is the first time I’ve managed to stick a whole BC attitude wise, I usually give up by about week 4 so taking it as a win.

mumsandaunties · 27/02/2026 18:49

Hello all, yes we are definitely a small but hardy bunch here at the end of bootcamp. I don’t think I can join you on Uber camp, but I’ll cheer from the sidelines.
I’m keen to keep going with the woe for as long as possible. The NSV have been brilliant.

Sleeping all night for example, l thought those days were gone.

Almahart · 27/02/2026 20:47

I hadn't joined the dots on that one. My sleep has hugely improved too.

I've had a challenging evening making non LC cakes for an event tomorrow and tasting the mixture. They need to be vegan and I didn't get it together to find vegan low carb cakes, though I am sure there are some almond flour options

RightTurnClyde · 27/02/2026 21:14

Yes I'm in - definitely ready for ubercamping on Monday. I'll get the ingredients I need tomorrow.

What is everyone planning to do regarding the menu version? I like the sound of the middle one (Column C) as I can't quite face the thought of an omelette, for some inexplicable reason. I'm not 100% certain that buttery mushrooms are doing it for me either, mind you, but I think if I get some nice mushrooms (variety of types) it could be ok.

I wish I could agree about the sleep, I've been ok getting to sleep but struggling to stay asleep, and have seen 4 am far too often. I think the water intake isn't helping!

SprinklesofRain · 27/02/2026 23:27

Hmmm, having looked at the ubercamp recipes I think I'm possibly out, I cannot possibly manage all that butter. This has always been a problem for me on BC, I cannot bear melted butter on anything except toast, I've got by for fat by using light olive oil to cook with, lots of mayo, FFGY and lots of cheese. Avo and smoked salmon together is far too rich and fatty as well although I like both. I might just go back to stricter BC rules for a week or so and then see.

SemmaLina · 28/02/2026 09:58

Been AWOL all week , but back now ( only because we had DD here and she wanted comfort food )
@SprinklesofRain you’ve had a tough time , hoping things calm down for you all now
Will take a look at Ubercamp

KellyOnAHeli · 01/03/2026 17:27

@RightTurnClyde I’d only spotted the first column for ubercamp so hadn’t even realised there were options - it’s not easy to read spreadsheets on a phone. I will do a combo of the different days. I’ve roasted some pork today, got some fish in, got a homemade burger ready to cook.

I’m looking forward to the final official BC weigh in in the morning. I have my fingers crossed that I’ll see the elusive number 15 appear on the scale. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen that.

BIWI · 01/03/2026 17:32

Fingers crossed for you @KellyOnAHeli!

I completely fell off the wagon today. I'd had a big loss this week too, was down 4ibs. Fell right into a pile of home baked carbs at a friend's. They were delicious but honestly not worth it. Back on it with a vengeance tomorrow

KellyOnAHeli · 01/03/2026 20:12

Oh no @Almahart! I hope your snackcident doesn’t have too much impact on your final reading tomorrow. Like you said, you can get right back on it tomorrow.

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2026 22:06

Evening all. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, but I suspect it will be another small change for me, if anything. I really have stalled but no matter, I shall soldier on.

I will join you on ubercamp in spirit only, as I have planned meals til Wednesday and don't have the right supplies. But it did remind me what an excellent lunch tuna mayo is, so I might have that tomorrow. Had those feta-licious meatballs earlier - very nice. I used some pul biber I bought in Turkey last year which was quite lively.

DS and his GF came round earlier - he phoned beforehand to say he was bringing some leftover birthday cake. DH said "don't forget, your mum's on that diet, so maybe bring something carbon neutral for her to eat". Hmm.... close. 😅Fortunately it was chocolate fudge cake, so I wasn't tempted.

BIWI · 01/03/2026 22:22

LOL at carbon neutral! 😆

Drum roll: the final results are in. I’ve lost 18lb this Bootcamp, which is 7% of my bodyweight. Very pleased with that. Thank you @BIWI for organising us all and keeping us on the straight and narrow.
And now I head on to do three days of ubercamp, to hopefully shed a final pound or two.
Well done to everyone who get involved, even if events meant you were only here for part of it. I’m sure making that commitment to your health paid off regardless.

Almahart · 02/03/2026 07:07

I have actually put the lowest weight I achieved this week (Saturday morning) rather than whatever todays will be as tbh I find that most psychologically helpful! On that basis I lost 13ibs this bootcamp which is absolutely incredible. So grateful to you
@BIWI for setting this up and keeping us on the straight and narrow. I've about 10ibs to go so will be here for the next while with anyone else who fancies it
