Final weigh-in: Pre-Christmas low carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 16/12/2024 08:41

Morning all!

So today is our last formal weigh-in for this Bootcamp. However, we will keep this thread going for chat and support, as I know some will be continuing.

I'm currently away and it’s difficult copying etc, so would someone mind posting a link to the spreadsheet, and then linking this thread to last week's chat thread?

Many thanks.

And I hope this Bootcamp has been successful - and also enjoyable!

Thanks @BIWI . I’m terrible with tech so have no idea how to copy the link and don’t want to mess something up.

Thanks for another great boot camp and look forward to picking up where we left off in Jan.

Have a lovey Christmas everyone x

Disappointed (though unsurprised) to have gained over the weekend but thrilled with a low weigh-in on Friday that took me to a fraction under half a stone this bootcamp. At a healthy BMI and with a small frame this is more than I'd hoped for so really pleased with myself.

I always thought recording the lowest weight each week was a bit of a cop- out but I've just done a little graph nerd of lowest weight vs final weight each week (I'm a daily weigher) and it's amazing- proper downward line (with a blip around week 4, standard) rather recording than the short term gains after whatever the weekend threw at me which isn't representative of the actual progress made that week.

I'll keep on as normal, a few more pulses which I know I can tolerate, and try to limit the damage before a week away for new year! Back on it after that.

prettybird · 16/12/2024 15:00

I'm going to use yesterday's weigh-in of 12st 4.5lb Xmas Smile

Really pleased with that Xmas Grin

Will continue to be strict up until Christmas Eve, when we have our "main" Christmas Dinner. Halo

Starter will be tomato & mint soup (already in the freezer) which is Boot Camp compatible. Main of brined roast turkey and a baked ham is fine but I'll allow myself one home grown roast potato (which I often don't finish Xmas Confused) and plenty of the savoy cabbage with pancetta and a wee bit of mashed parsnips with chopped chestnuts.

Dessert is the Danish Christmas rice pudding: a sort of sweet rice risotto with chopped almonds and whipped cream folded through it and one whole almond: whoever gets it wins the "almond prize" (in this household, a Christmas mug).

There are going to be 12 at the table: dh is having conniptions but as I usefully serve 10, what's 2 extra Xmas Wink

I now serve the same thing every year, so I've got it down to a fine art Xmas Grin

prettybird · 16/12/2024 15:05

That's 17lb I've lost this Boot Camp Xmas Shock

ReconstructionSite · 16/12/2024 16:26

That is incredible @prettybird!

I'm calling it on Saturday's weight, as the last 48 hours have not been representative of the last eight weeks of effort! So 10.5lbs lost overall, my jeans all fit again, and I have learnt a lot about what works and doesn't work for me.

Thank you @BIWI for the bootcamp and I'll be back in January (bobbing in occasionally on this maintenance thread as well, I'm sure).

Floralnomad · 16/12/2024 16:33

I’m a lb down this week and 24 lbs since I started in mid September so I’m pretty happy . I’m going to stay off pasta , rice , potatoes and most bread and join in the January boot camp , I’m a non drinker so that helps . Thanks for running this @BIWI .

islandtiger · 16/12/2024 17:16

Great to have the new thread, thank you everyone. I'm up 1lb at 150lb after the excesses of DH birthday weekend but still very pleased with a 9lb loss overall. The support, recipes, ideas and articles have really helped my knowledge and determination to KOKO with this WOE. We've got a quieter week, early dinner out at Côte tomorrow with a young teenager and friends who are driving so easy to be moderate. Looking forward to easy supper of cabbage and chorizo fried in lots of oil and butter. And finishing up berries for pudding but might forgo cream and yoghurt. We have half a hundred weight of different cheeses left after the party. I need to understand more about getting the balance right if I'm going to have a bit more regular carb in moderation ( sourdough bread, sourdough crackers 😋) with cheese over Christmas.

LCagain · 16/12/2024 19:43

Well done everyone! I'm very pleased with 9lbs in 7 weeks, and although that's down to roughly the weight I started after Xmas last year I feel much stronger and more toned than then. I've had one meal out where I ate off plan and which was delicious, and one evening of less than ideal quick choices which has left me feeling very sluggish. But I'm pleased I have stuck with it the rest of the week and not gone totally carb crazy! So much to think about over the festive period and looking forward to getting back on LC properly in the new year.

That's amazing 😻 , well done @prettybird

NoCarbsForMe · 18/12/2024 08:41

Finishing this week on 196lbs
A bit annoying as I was lower over the last couple of weeks.
But am determined to pull it back!

On the positive side, I'm half a stone down on the heaviest I've ever been and have started weights which I am loving. Despite the DOMS I am actually starting to feel stronger have a couple of weeks off work now and am determined to up the exercise to try and limit any setbacks that may be caused by the festive period!

Happy Christmas everyone and see you in January! 🎄💪🏽🙌

SemmaLina · 18/12/2024 08:51

I have not had the best Bootcamp , lost 6 lb in the first 2 weeks then YoYoed all over the place ,
Still , I’m less now , than I was at the beginning
Will try and be mindful of what I’m eating , although I do struggle with no bread , ( I miss toast ) but I have a dream holiday in Feb / March …. No pressure !

BitOutOfPractice · 18/12/2024 08:58

Oh how can I have been on mn for so many years and never seen this thread?!

please may I join you for the next one? Will there be a winter / January one?

Totally with you on the bread missing Semma!

I have found however that missing it then having it very occasionally makes it taste even better 🤣

I have found a delicious Keto granola to have with FFGY but am wondering if that may be why am up a few lbs...?

Back to the eggs 🙄

prettybird · 18/12/2024 09:19

Of course you can @BitOutOfPractice Flowers

The January one is going to be a short sharp dry one of only 4 weeks (fits in with "dry January").

I'm going to be doing a full 8 weeks not all dry Wink as I'm off to Australia in March for a wedding ShockSmile

You could always look back at previous Boot Camp threads and follow along in parallel week by week. They always have the weak name in the title.

BIWI · 18/12/2024 10:50

... or even the week name Wink
You're very welcome @BitOutOfPractice - I'll be doing the sign-up thread for the January Bootcamp shortly. And as @prettybird has said, it will be a short one, and also will be a dry one.

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 18/12/2024 11:58

I was planning on doing dry February because it’s shorter when my willpower starts to waiver after a semi-dry January. But I’d love to be on board with the low carbing. In fact, I’m quite looking forward to it! Is that weird?

Gunnersforthecup · 18/12/2024 12:36

I have lost another 2.1kg, so down to 92.9kg now. In fact, it is our 20th anniversary today and I am just 3kg away from the weight I was then.

I got weighed as I had booked a session to learn how to work out with weights at the gym.

I haven't worked out the exact stats of what I have lost; I was 107kg when weighed at the GP a while before I started bootcamp and then 104kg when weighed a week or 2 after starting.

Thank you all so much for doing this. Especially Biwi! Happy Xmas all!

BIWI · 18/12/2024 17:13

Flowers to @Comeonyoublues, who has lost a stone! That's really good going. Closely followed by @costevo on 13lbs.

If you have a look at the spreadsheet, you'll see that the lovely @FinallyHere has added more columns so that anyone who wishes can continue logging their weight each week.

Definitely in for a new year dry one. Despite dropping out early from this one I’ve basically maintained so still hovering around 143 lbs which I am thrilled at as it’s a good long period of maintenance at this point. Thanks for all the support and recipes this year. It’s been a revelation and one I hope to continue. 🙏

Goodiewhemper · 19/12/2024 05:59

I am a little late posting and a little disappointed that I am up a little since last week and am off my target by 1.5kg. I have lost 4cm from my waistline and I can close jeans and skirts that have not fitted me for years so that is a win.

There have been some fantastic losses and well done to us all for staying the course and supporting each other.

@Prettybird - that rice dish sounds amazing 😋
This is the hardest time of the year with Christmas parties and get togethers and temptation everywhere! I need to keep my wits about me and my hand out of the cookie jar! 😂

CleanQueen123 · 19/12/2024 07:58

After no loss for that last fortnight I'm down to 76.4, so very nearly back under 12st for the first time in a long time.

Slight issue with my water intake since yesterday as my entire area is without water! 🤦🏼‍♀️ So it's at a bit of a premium.

prettybird · 19/12/2024 08:18

I made my first batch of mince pies (37 of them Xmas Shock) last night, for our first "in person" Book Club (usually done over Zoom) and I didn't have a single one Halo

I did have a glass of non-alcoholic punch which was tasty but suspiciously sweet Xmas Hmm

I was rewarded with being just under 12st 4lb this morning, so that's just over 17lb since this Boot Camp started Xmas Grin

Off to the ballet tonight so away from temptation Xmas Smile Tomorrow night will be difficult though as SIL, ds' girlfriend and I are having an evening Christmas cookie making and decorating Xmas Confused

islandtiger · 20/12/2024 16:31

I could cruelly post a picture of the three birthday cakes that were made for @Comeonyoublues this weekend. I think it's unlikely he'll STS over the Christmas period but very proud of his resolve this last bootcamp. He certainly helped me with the water and lots of delicious low carb meals. I'm thrilled that despite going off piste a bit with left over cake and sourdough bread this week I'm still at 149lb. I'm going to resist alcohol until Christmas Eve as that's my main downfall, wine always leads to snacking! Christmas Day is going to be a bit weird as my DM is in a care home ATM so we're not sure where we'll have Christmas lunch. I've booked a pub for the three of us but we'll have to see how she feels on the day. We might have a fairly restrained few days as the DC and DGC are away but then again there's an awful lot of cheese to get through. Good luck negotiating festivities everyone and thank you @FinallyHere for super spreadsheet. I definitely intend to keep logging and KOKO. Happy festivities all.

NoCarbsForMe · 22/12/2024 10:03

Eek went al a bit carbzy yesterday at a friend's house for dinner and my stomach looked like I'm 6 moths pregnant by the time I went to bed!

I've ordered some kombucha drinks to try and help limit my alcohol consumption over the next week... REALLY want to STS if at all possible 😬🤞
