Morning all.

Sad to be back, and envious of those still away - and those yet to go!

I've skimmed the thread while I was away, but not read properly, so I'll catch up later today. In the meantime:

Here's the spreadsheet

Only two weeks left before our final weigh-in, so might be a good time, if things have slowed down, to consider going back to strict Bootcamp?

Whatever you choose, let's make these last two weeks really good ones.

Good luck everyone Flowers

I'm making a kind of lasagne for dinner, replacing the pasta sheet with very thinly sliced, oiled and grilled aubergine. I have the ragu (pork) sauce in the slow oven and will layer with a keto cheese sauce and top with lots of mozzarella. I have a red pepper that needs using so I may slice and grill that along with the aubergine.

catwithflowers · 21/03/2024 19:14

Super tasty 😋. No pasta required!

That looks delicious @catwithflowers

Whicker · 21/03/2024 19:45

A long day at a training course, but I avoided the pastries and cakes successfully.

I caught sight of myself in a full length mirror though, and was hit with a wave of disappointment in how crap I look, despite being a bit thinner. Last time I was slim was years ago, and I was automatically glowy and lovely. Now I just look shabby. How can I make myself look like I take care of myself? It clearly needs more than slimness these days.

Thesoundofmusic23 · 21/03/2024 22:48

@catwithflowers I have been making something similar - Mary Berry’s express lasagne with pork mince, mushrooms, spinach and crème fraiche layered with a rich herby Passata and using griddled aubergine instead of pasta. Faffy but delicous.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 22/03/2024 07:13

Sorry this is a very me me me post!

So yesterday was awful in work and I was an emotional wreck. I was desperate to binge but kept thinking of getting on the scales today and how gutted I'd be. I took my boy out to Nando's for tea and was almost about to have a pitta and chips and start again this morning. That gorgeous child said 'don't do it mum, you've done so well' so I went for a chicken breast and their new leafy salad (which is lovely if you're in there at any point). I did crack open the wine and dark choc when I got home but it could have been so much worse. Anyway this morning I got on the scales to see a new low and half an lb off a new stone bracket and a stone since January. I can't tell you how much I wanted to cave yesterday but I'm so glad I didn't. I'm sure I'll bounce back up tomorrow but every new low I see shows it's working. Today will also be hard at work, no doubt, but I feel a little bit stronger thanks to this success.

As you were... Grin

Whicker · 22/03/2024 07:48

I think a bit of me me me is entirely allowable! Especially as you always support other people in their me me me moments.

WELL DONE. I’m so glad you were rewarded for it on the scales the next day, as sometimes it can be a slightly deferred victory. And hugs for the shitty day.

TheOnlyMrsW · 22/03/2024 08:15

@AllTheBlackCoffee well done, hope today is less shitty for you. @catwithflowers lasagne looks fantastic, makes me almost rethink my aversion aubergines 😂

Almahart · 22/03/2024 08:54

Have finally found my LC mojo. Down another 1/2 pound this morning. I'd be delighted if I get to under 11 stone by the end of this BC.

I bought some of these in Waitrose. 1.5g of carbs per cracker but the crackers are TINY. However, one with a huge hunk of camembert does work, they are properly crunchy. Also, not so amazingly nice that I'm tempted to scoff the lot!

catwithflowers · 22/03/2024 09:16

@TheOnlyMrsW I think it's the slicing them really thin, brushing liberally with olive oil and grilling which totally changes the taste and texture. I'm not the biggest aubergine fan tbh but this is a low carb game changer 😂

BIWI · 22/03/2024 10:54

@AllTheBlackCoffee Really, really well done on resisting the carbs! And I'm so glad you were rewarded for that on the scales. And also - way to go to your son for being your cheerleader! Flowers

I can confirm that the recipe for chocolate mousse I posted up thread is really very good. The quantities suggested are a bit out though. It says it makes 6 portions, but I filled 8 Gu-type ramekins with it. And even though the chocolate I used was 70% cocoa (and 30.6g carbs per 100g Shock) it still worked out at around 8g carbs per portion.

TheOnlyMrsW · 22/03/2024 12:37

Thanks @catwithflowers I need to try but they just always look mushy!!!! Picked up some really chunky pork steaks reduced in Aldi this morning so they've gone into the slow cooker with peppers, onions, cherry toms, fennel seed, chilli and herbs. Will serve with roast veg later.......not particularly hungry today thankfully. DD working tonight hence the nice dinner for DH and I - also keeps me off wine as she needs to be collected 😊

lurknolinger · 22/03/2024 13:42

Just caught up with the thread having not checked in a for a few days- also coming out of lurkdom to report that I'm very much still here!

I've lost 17lbs since 1st January which I'm really happy with. With more having come off since Mondays official weigh in.

I had a big blip at the beginning of February with 2 weekends away back to back which lead to some carby twatness (with alcohol rather than food) but I've managed to get back on track and am doing well again.

I'm another one to join the looser jeans club too, which feels great. Well done to everyone else having NSV's too!

I've got lots more to lose, so will be here KOKO for the next few months.
My next targets are to lose another 3lbs to get to 1.5 stone off, and after that to get to the next stone bracket before my holiday in June.

poorbuthappy · 22/03/2024 14:41

Bloody hell. That choc mousse looks tremendous. Im doing that on the weekend

FinallyHere · 22/03/2024 16:22

@AllTheBlackCoffee

don't do it mum, you've done so well

How lovely, angel child

FinallyHere · 22/03/2024 16:31

Hello lovely people, I'm checking back in and KOKO. Having felt so very sorry for myself earlier in the week when I had a cough and a sniffle, im so sorry for grizzling in public here.

Stayed low carb and strayed only to the extent of sugar free throat sweets on Tuesday with ibuprofen, paracetamol and that thing that dries up the sinuses.

Bounced back happy again now, with air fried chicken wings and Caesar salad calling me to go home soon. I'm thinking eating well these days has helped as I threw off the virus pdq hurrah.

Happy Friday lovely people

Magnolia82 · 22/03/2024 21:48

Well done @AllTheBlackCoffee. Your son sounds lovely and supportive.

Whicker · 23/03/2024 07:34

1 1/2lbs off for this week. 1 left to next week. I’d had secret hopes of getting there early, but will just have to be patient!

Goodiewhemper · 23/03/2024 08:09

Good morning to all fellow BCampers. I have been lurking the past few weeks while life just got in the way. On top of everything I got accidentally glutened last weekend and have had the worst reaction in years. I weighed myself on Tuesday to find I was almost 3kg up from the previous week. I suspect most of this is due to water retention and inflammation but I feel really awful physically and just feel like crying. It will pass and I just need to stay focused and koko and stay posting here. The support and accountability makes all the difference. Have a great Saturday everyone.

BIWI · 23/03/2024 12:32

Sorry you've been having a touch time @Goodiewhemper - but I agree, I'm sure that 3kg isn't fat, but a result of your problems. Being glutened must be awful as well.

OP posts:
BIWI · 23/03/2024 12:56

tough time, obviously!

OP posts:
AllTheBlackCoffee · 23/03/2024 13:01

Sorry to hear about your glutening @Goodiewhemper hope you feel better soon. It must be so hard to have to avoid things like that when they can have such a bad effect on your health.

Thank you for all the kind comments and yes, DS is indeed amazing. Sometimes I'd merrily drive him into the countryside and abandon him at the side of the road but in the main, I know I'm very lucky. He's 13 now and I am bracing myself for the teen years but so far so good.

Delighted to report another half an lb off this morning taking me to under 13 stone for the first time in forever. Next target is to get under 180lbs...

BIWI · 23/03/2024 16:21

So glad it's all going in the right direction @AllTheBlackCoffee!

Roast chicken here tonight. Something I haven't done for a while, as buying a decent chicken is so expensive these days! Will have celeriac and cabbage with it too, although haven't quite decided how I'm going to cook those. I have got some cream so might do a dauphinoise.
