Morning all. Sorry for posting the thread late, but I slept in this morning. The perils of being retired!

As ever, here's the link to the spreadsheet

I hope you enjoyed the vegetarian meal challenge - I certainly did, and I loved making the aubergine, spinach and paneer curry inspired by @mimosa1.

So now we're in the last three weeks. Hopefully things have been going well, since we left behind weeks 3 & 4, and you've settled into a good routine, and have found different ways to deal with the temptation of the carbs.

This week, I'm after fish recipes. We don't tend eat much fish, which is something I feel bad about - but it's driven mainly by a poor choice in our local supermarket. So I tend to fall back on to salmon - which is fine, but I need a bit more inspiration. We do have a Waitrose not too far away, which has a fresh fish counter, so will look forward to any ideas!

Good luck for the next week Flowers

thanks @BIWI , celeriac it is! And thanks for the recipe too. I'll get my bake on this weekend 😎

NotDonna · 15/02/2023 12:04

Thanks for the moussaka recipe BIWI that’s the exact one I was hunting for. I’ll give the cheese scones a go too.
If a recipe calls for ‘almond flour’ can ground almonds be used instead? Can’t recall the recipe now but incase I come across it again.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 15/02/2023 13:14

Feeling freezing here today. After being so hot in the night I had to open a window, my poor body doesn't know what's going on. It's like my thyroid and my peri symptoms are fighting a comic book worthy battle of hot and cold, but neither seems to be coming out an overall winner.

Had yog and cream for breakfast and a portion of my lush chicken soup for lunch. Tea is fajita salad with all the fixings and I can't bloody wait.

Getting my nails done after work, one of my 2023 resolutions to take more care of myself along with sticking to BC which is currently going well but umming and ahhing over what colour to have. Currently they are very purple, which I love but in need of a change today. Ho hum, first world problems and all that!

QforCucumber · 15/02/2023 13:49

@AllTheBlackCoffee manifest springtime with an iris purple or an orange?!

left my lunch at home today so popped to Lidl near the office. Headed straight to the tapas area and bought a pot of olives with feta and a pack of rollitos - gone are the days of a sandwich and a cake and I feel so proud! That was so much more satisfying than any crappy sandwich!

prettybird · 15/02/2023 14:32

Just lost this post Angry, so trying again.

Had a lovely Valentines meal last night of extra thick 28 day aged fillet steak from Lidl, salted a few hours in advance and then cooked rapidly in thyme infused frothing butter (turning and basting frequently), served with buttery green beans and roasted asparagus, both of which were beautifully al dente. Served with a wonderful bottle of Topiary Syrah from South Africa. Smile

At the risk of being subject to BIWI's Big Stick Blush, finished off the meal with two ok, three Blush of these dark chocolate macarons from Hotel Chocolat that dh had got me for Christmas. At 7.1g for two, they were a decadent indulgence.

Hello lovely people

Talking of celeriac and any associated difficulties sourcing the genuine article, I felt Waitrose's delivery fell short of its usual high standards this week with the attached

That looks a very fine neep Confused

Talking of celeriac, I was looking through the seeds that I've inherited from our gardening friend and have come across some celeriac seeds so think I might give them a go. They're supposed to be down in February/March. I've prepared a tray ready! Wink

OldandTired66 · 15/02/2023 17:35

Haha, I'd have been very happy with a waitrose celariac! Just back from 3 days in Yorkshire with my mum and sister. Didn't fare too badly, I think 2 biscuits, then due to a massive restaurant fail, where we left after waiting an hour for lunch only to find they had just not taken our order to the kitchen 😳, I had to forage a bacon sandwich in mum's kitchen since it had been 7hrs since my breakfast boiled egg and I was too hungry to go shopping. Today's pub lunch was much more successful. Huge burger with bacon and cheese (no bun), coleslaw and broccoli in chilli and garlic butter. The broccoli was delicious and I'll be copying that. Back home now and back on the straight and narrow.

SpottyBumPony · 15/02/2023 17:43

I'm back on track today, weirdly I feel much better since my blow out yesterday. I was obsessing about carbs for days but didn't realise it until lunchtime today when they had no pull over me at all

GY+C
Ceasar salad, chicken and avocado
Bolognaise with buttery cabbage

Rayna37 · 15/02/2023 18:41

I had a glorious seven course meal last and ate everything. I can't think of a bootcamp where I've been so strict before and actively avoided meals out and drinks so much so don't feel bad. Rare opportunity for a babysitter so went for a fancy place! The prawns and very pink wild venison were highlights as was the passion fruit parfait and I had three drinks which is exactly right and where I would do well to stick on every occasion!

Packed breakfast and lunch all spot on today, currently awaiting steak with garlic prawns, chips swapped for chargrilled veg and enjoying catching up with the thread.

Like the sound of your steak technique Prettybird may steal that!

Baystard · 15/02/2023 19:26

Wowsers - finally tried the kale crisps, so delicious. I've eaten nearly a whole bag of kale though so I may regret it later!

My recent carb cravings have passed and I'm finding it easier again.

@SpottyBumPony the main thing is that you got back on the wagon, and it sounds like you learnt something about yourself too so don't be too hard on yourself.

BonnieBairn · 15/02/2023 19:49

Well done getting back on track @SpottyBumPony. I don't know about you but I've found this woe much easier to forgive myself for any transgressions and get back on track. Before I would feel so upset and then just give up. @BIWI the moussaka sounds lovely, I'm going to give it a try this week.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 16/02/2023 08:46

Morning, quiet on here this week. Is everyone off enjoying half term fun? We break up tomorrow here and I cannot bloody wait to finish work!

Starting to feel a bit fed up with it all, I'm not really losing despite being on it, the scales are just refusing to cooperate. I'm starting to spend too much time thinking about all the stuff I can't eat and last night was a real battle to get in the kitchen and cook tea rather than buy some processed shit just to shove in the oven from the co-op. I know I feel better on this WOE and all the other reasons I'm doing it but I'd just love to have a week with a decent loss to spur me on.

I think I need a change of scenery so next weeks break will do me the world of good, am sure.

Today's plan:
yog and cream
omelette
basa topped with cheesy almond crust, veggies, butter

Sorry @NotDonna I missed this yesterday - yes, you can use ground almonds in that recipe and it will work perfectly

@FinallyHere - the weigh-in sheet seems to have disappeared from the spreadsheet. Is it just me?

@FinallyHere - the weigh-in sheet seems to have disappeared from the spreadsheet. Is it just me?

Ohhh I'm on it now.

NotDonna · 16/02/2023 09:05

Not BC related. I’ve just noticed the hearts under each post saying ‘save’ - how does that work please?

NotDonna · 16/02/2023 09:08

Oh my goodness! I can actually SAVE posts! That means I can save recipes and find them latter. How did I not know this? Made my day!!

FinallyHere · 16/02/2023 09:08

I'm afraid it looks that way to me @BIWI

I am really very sorry for everyone whose records have been lost.

Although we have some controls, like the pop up message that warns about protected stuff, there is nothing to stop anyone just deleting any part of it.

In a 'Shutting the door after' approach, I can start to take a copy say weekly so we would only ever loose a weeks worth of updates.

I'm afraid immediately think of anything else to be done, without asking people to register and use a user name & password

I can recreate what we started with but I'm not aware of any way at the moment to get back what has been posted.

NotDonna · 16/02/2023 09:14

@FinallyHere you're doing a stellar job!! Not much you can do about it so please don’t worry. I’m sure most of us know our starting weights and our most recent ourselves.

Skiphopbump · 16/02/2023 09:15

Oh no @FinallyHere , it’s a real shame that someone has destroyed all your work - how mean.

I feel like I’ve been stuck around the same weight for ages,
just can’t get below 230, the lowest has been 230.2lbs - I think I’m just desperate to see 22somwthing on the scales!

I woke up feeling sick a few times overnight and this morning my body aches. I have a voucher for afternoon tea at patisserie Valerie and it’s hard to resist today!

FinallyHere · 16/02/2023 09:17

@BIWI

The world of the weigh in sheet has been reset back to 6.46pm on the 14th Feb 2023.

There will have been a few entries lost apologies to anyone whose entries have been lost.

Sorry for not finding out what was possible before posting doom and gloom here. Don't you just hate it when the techies do that to us at work 😀

In future, I will explicitly take a copy of the spreadsheet when the new thread is opened each week (or as close as I can get) so we have more backup

FinallyHere · 16/02/2023 09:20

Thank you for your kind words @Skiphopbump Much appreciated, especially since it's not quite as I first thought and a good reminder to me to take back ups.

OldandTired66 · 16/02/2023 09:22

@FinallyHere @BIWI I've just opened the version on my ipad. It still has the weigh in sheet so I've made a copy. But how to get it to you?

BIWI · 16/02/2023 09:24

Brilliant work @FinallyHere!

@OldandTired66 If you copy it with a different name, would that work? At worst, you could do a screen grab and send that to FinallyHere?
