Welcome everyone! We have over 160 people signed up this time, so things are going to move quickly.

Here's the link to The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness which has been carefully and lovingly curated by the very lovely @FinallyHere

There are a few bits of admin that I need to post before we get going. The first of which is the usual disclaimer:

I am not a medic, a scientist, a dietician or a nutritionist. Everything that I post here is based on my reading and my own experiences of low carbing gained over the last 20 years. You follow the guidance here at your own risk - although I very much hope that there are no risks!

Very importantly, though, if you are on any kind of long-term medication, please talk to your GP/nurse about low carbing. This is especially important if you're on drugs for hypertension, cholesterol and/or diabetes, as a low carb diet should have a positive impact on all of those conditions, which would mean that your dosage may need to be decreased, if not removed altogether.

The second is about etiquette:

Please, please, please read all the posts on the thread before you make your own post. These threads work so much better when we're all here interacting with each other, as that means we can offer help and support when it's needed. Don't just jump on the thread to plop down your meals for the day, your weight that day and then just fuck off. That doesn't help anyone.

More than anything else, it's incredibly irritating when someone posts a question which has already been answered early in the thread. I, and lots of other Bootcampers, spend a considerable amount of time responding to people's questions and concerns, and it's pretty insulting when it's obvious that these haven't been read.

(Oh, and it's very obvious if you haven't read the thread, so take that as a warning Wink)

There's nothing wrong with coconut milk @DryWhiteagainW - although the brands do vary re their carb count. The KTC brand, for instance, is 2.2g carbs for a 1/4 can, so not a problem cooking with it.

Love the sound of chicken thigh shawarma @Lucienandjean - how do you make it?

Starting to feel less hungry today. Just had my 3 meals, no snacks, and most shockingly no thoughts of food between dinner and bedtime (my usual danger zone).

Also thank you to whoever posted the hunger scale - I've found it really helpful!

Lucienandjean · 13/01/2023 23:16

@Hopeislost I used this recipe. It was really good and I've got plenty left over for tomorrow.

Evening everyone

Today I ate
B: Two boiled eggs with garlic Mayo
L: home made guacamole and cream cheese.
D: sausage, crispy bacon, two fried (in butter) eggs and plum tomatoes. Only ended up eating 1/2 sausage and 1 egg though as I was full up!

Water- on my last glass now. I do keep waking up in the night needing a pee at the moment! Anyone else!!

same.. I peed about 4 times last night but i’m only on my second day not sure if that makes a difference?

B: scrambled eggs with butter (2)
L: 1/2 pot of hummus with celery sticks. half grilled chicken breast. Chunks of cheddar cheese and a coffee
D: 2 stuffed flat mushrooms w garlic and mozzarella, grilled bell peppers with feta cheese

snack of greek yogurt, cream, cinnamon.

TigerYiger · 14/01/2023 00:35

@Passtheturkey good news is the ZOE thing about the gut biome and eating 30 varieties of plants a week includes herbs and spices...The diary of a CEO podcast with Dr Tim Spector Smile

moleeye · 14/01/2023 07:13

Gammon in the slow cooker as we are out most of the day doing various activities with the kids etc and I don't want to slip and order a takeaway out of laziness when I get in

B FF Greek Yog with cinnamon
L leftover chicken fajita with cheese, avo, salad and sour cream (I'm taking a packed lunch out with me!)
D gammon with fried egg and loads of buttery cabbage

I really struggle with weekends so planning is key. Haven't felt the need to snack but am sure I will today!!

And all the waterrrrr, 1.5L down already (and 2 black coffees as they started the day before 5)

Have a great day everyone

Quite proud of myself this morning. DH and DC we’re having pancakes for breakfast, so I went out to muck out the ponies whilst they enjoyed their pancakes.

The willpower is strong! We can do this everyone!

Pretty bad out there isn't it? My two are in and dhorse really needs to go out. I was planning to ride at 10 but not sure I can face it

Gingerwarthog · 14/01/2023 09:06

Weighed in at 64.6kg today - just 0.6kg off my initial target. An ideal target would be 63kg.
Really pleased with this.

Greatly · 14/01/2023 09:08

I weighed also. I've been very strict about BC and haven't drunk alcohol since 1 Jan. I've lost 1lb so far 😂 oh well KBO

I do think once BC is over I need to look at portion size maybe.

NotDonna · 14/01/2023 09:18

@amispeakingintongues I don’t think hummus is allowed.

NotDonna · 14/01/2023 09:22

@Greatly a pound down is the right direction though and it all adds up! Maybe you didn’t eat very carby foods before BC. I average a pound a week but after 8 weeks that’s still pretty significant. It’s also likely to stay off. Please don’t be disheartened. Keep on keeping on.

FinallyHere · 14/01/2023 09:23

@Gingerwarthog hugh gratters on being so close to target

prettybird · 14/01/2023 09:23

@Greatly - I'm sure @BIWI will be along shortly to ask you to list out what you've been eating.

Hand on heart, have you been drinking all the water and having plenty of fat? I often find if I'm stalling, I need to drink more water. (That's why I daily weigh: as a reminder, if the scales go up)

But if you're close to target/normal BMI, often weight loss is slower.

I was absolutely mainlining toast and butter and wine 😂 not disheartened really I think it will definitely come off in a whoosh next week or so.

prettybird · 14/01/2023 09:30

I'm going do the chicken and chorizo dish that someone described tonight (will need to scroll back to find the recipe).

Tomorrow's dinner is at my dad's, and will be "spicy pork with pineapple" Hmm I'll pick out the pineapple (which I don't like with savoury dishes anyway) but I'm sure the sauce will have sugar in it Hmm I've already told him that I won't be having dessert (so he needs to make enough for three) and that I won't be having any alcohol (so dh and he get to share a bottle Grin).

He had expensive spine surgery on Tuesday for spinal stenosis, so I wasn't going to tell him to think of another dish Wink

AllTheBlackCoffee · 14/01/2023 09:31

Morning everyone, just planning my meals for the week before I do my online shop. I am going to give shoogled spouts a try at some point. Wish me luck.

I've just realised I've not had breakfast yet so about to have some yog and cream. We're off out later so have factored in a Nando's stop off for lunch so should be easy to stay on track there. I'm making HM burgers with celeriac chips for tea.

Our weekends have been so busy recently so I'm looking forward to a chilled day with my boys Smile

Oh, and I'm nearly through my first bottle of water - so easy to slip on that over the weekend. Keep chugging everyone!!

LadyBiker · 14/01/2023 09:33

DH woke me this morning with a 'lovely' coffee, except he made it with sour cream, not double cream (yuk). I had a couple of sips and initially thought my tastebuds were askew and I had caught covid!

Pre-planning meals are definitely the way to go and ensuring there is a plentiful supply of low-carb veg - I am eating whatever protein everyone else has along with a big salad or a whole tray of roasted veg.

Finding that I am full all the time, really going to stick to this WOE this time as it has so many health benefits.

BonnieBairn · 14/01/2023 09:37

A NSV here for me this morn. Taking DD14 and a few of her friends out today for her bday. Normally I wear massive jumpers as I've no nice clothes that fit me. Decided to try on a nice top that I have, tried it on before Xmas and it was so tight, esp across my chest.......well you know where this is going, put it on and it fits! Feeling so pleased with myself. Hope everyone has a good day today Smile

OldandTired66 · 14/01/2023 09:39

Good morning everyone. Terrible nights sleep and woke really wanting an energy boost (toast, mmm). But resisted and had scrambled eggs with butter and cream. Delicious. Lunch out so won't know til I get there, and roast chicken with roast veg for dinner. Going to try making a leek sauce with stock and cream to go with it. Swede mash on Thursday followed by swede fries yesterday certainly provided the roughage I needed for my (ahem) digestive issues.

Nandos is great! I had the thighs with broccoli and sprouts when I went pre Christmas.

@LadyBiker dh made me a coffee with oat milk this morning - took a few swigs then realised. I've added more almond milk to my shopping list!

50notout · 14/01/2023 09:49

@earlyraisin sorry to hear the iced hibiscus wasn’t very nice, I like the idea of doing this though. Can we have any fruit tea?

@BIWI thank you for your reply yesterday & typed out a long response and then my phone died and I went to a friends last night so no time to redo, but the gist was I take on board everything you say & I'm shopping today so will focus on chicken thighs etc & higher fat, no fruit and no nuts. FYI I made the pesto with cashew nuts and it was really lovely so I might post the recipe in a few weeks as Cashews are allowed in moderation?

Also I did add myself to the spreadsheet but I’ll check again. Oh and I’ve lost an another pound! 😀.

Whats everyone doing this weekend? I’m meant to be going for a long walk with my Daughter but it’s pouring down 🙁..Later she’s Staying over & wants to order Nando’s so I’ll get the chicken thighs and broccoli- is that ok? Tomorrow Pilates.

This one @prettybird ? It’s my favourite!

prettybird · 14/01/2023 10:00

Don't think it was that one @Skiphopbump it's got peppers in it Envy but thank you anyway Flowers. I'm sure I'd seen one (more a description really) when someone had fried off chunks of chicken and chorizo and added some cream. Can't remember if there were tomatoes in it. I also have some baby spinach that is desperately needing used up so may shove that in too although ds might object Wink

Loved this podcast too. I signed up and this week received an email to go on the wait list to do a the test but it’s nearly £300 & I’m trying to be more responsible with money this year so I haven’t jumped in yet!
