Welcome everybody!

Here, thinks to @FinallyHere, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

This Bootcamp will last for eight weeks, with (as ever) the first two weeks being the most strict.

I'll post again tomorrow, but just wanted to get things underway for now Smile

Forgot to say I made kale crisps too. Yummy!

WhoAteTheChips · 28/07/2022 20:55

just caught up with you all, and have been looking at the recipe threads, so lots of good ideas going forward.

I just could not face breakfast this morning. Felt rubbish - kept putting it off for an hour and decided at 12.30 I’d just write it off and go straight to lunch at 1.30. Did drink loads in that time though.

L: an open omelette with peppers, mushroom, spinach and tomatoes. Veg were all fried in butter.
D: Roasted salmon, courgette chips with a Parmesan crust (home made in air fryer) and a sort of home made ratatouille with olive oil, olives, garlic and loads of fresh herbs chopped in to the veggies.

Lougle · 28/07/2022 20:59

@comfortablyfrumpy that's incredible! Well done you.

@Bunce1 the ingredients of Baba ganoushe are all fine. Just be careful if it's shop bought, that it doesn't have a carby thickener in it.

Lougle · 28/07/2022 21:05

My day has been quite stressful and at one point I felt like I'd like nothing more than to fall face first into a plate of carby snacks.

Having said that, it's amazing how our taste buds change. When I started this WOE in May, I used quite a lot of High 5 tabs. I thought they were just right to take the edge off the taste of water. Today I had one and it was unbearably sweet.

B - Greek yoghurt and clotted cream
L - 2 chicken thighs and a slice of cheese
D - lamb steak, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, vinaigrette.

Fluids: 300ml tea, 3750ml water.

BIWI · 28/07/2022 21:25

@Chocasaurus they all have sweeteners in them, so don't worry! At this stage, if you're suffering from carb flu it's more important that you deal with that.

What wonderful positive posts.

I've been out all day for my birthday, including Jack Vettriano exhibition in his home town. Had avocado for breakfast, lunch in a lovely restaurant (one glass of wine and about 2 litres water), then a lovely visit to my dgc. They had made me macarons (becuase they know that grandma doesn't like cake). I ate one.

Just water this evening.

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 28/07/2022 21:48

Another good food day here though I think I am feeling a touch of carb flu. I know it will pass!
B: Greek yoghurt, coffee with cream
L: mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, pepper, olives, mayo
S: couple of spoons of Greek yoghurt
D: chicken and vegetable curry
Water: lots

Forgot to say to @Bunce1 M&S do lovely serrano ham crisps also chorizo. I find they are great if you're on a picnic and everyone else has crisps.

Alternatively Cheesies which come in different cheese types

I also like seaweed thins particulalry the wasabi ones. But some people hate them.

Thank you! I looked for seaweed thins at my small and inadequate tescos but will try a bigger place at the weekend.

@Lougle all home made. Roasted the 🍆 this eve and will blend it tomorrow. Going for a sort of grazing platter for lunch/dinner tomorrow x

ditavonteesed · 29/07/2022 00:04

Happy birthday @venusandmars but you are wrong about seaweed thins, they are literally the worst food that exists on this planet. Like eating a wet dog that's been deep fried and sliced thinly.

BIWI · 29/07/2022 06:00

Happy birthday for yesterday @venusandmars 🎂

@Chocasaurus I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners so I buy an unsweetened electrolyte powder https://amzn.eu/d/bv8bJyaa* instead of the Zero tablets. I've been using it for years and even the small 100g packs last ages.

GrinGrin seconding both these sentiments

Lougle · 29/07/2022 06:38

Ooh happy birthday @venusandmars !

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 29/07/2022 06:51

Happy birthday for yesterday @venusandmars !

I discovered later last night that the curry DH cooked had beetroot in it 😬 bit of a misunderstanding there. I think it was only a few small chunks so hopefully it won't derail me too much...

Whicker · 29/07/2022 06:55

belated happy birthday @venusandmars !

Am now slightly less up for trying seaweed thins :)

All going reasonably well here. My fat feels a bit squishier and obedient, rather than so belligerently there all the time. This weekend will be tricky as I’m officiating at a sporting event and the food provided is very much of the carby snack sort. I’ve fallen off the wagon before at these things, so am going to have to make sure i am extra full before I go.

What’s the position on chewing gum? I unthinkingly had some in the car yesterday as my mouth needed freshening , but is it a carby no no?

Bunce1 · 29/07/2022 06:56

@venusandmars belated birthday best wishes!

Rshard · 29/07/2022 07:24

Sounds like a lovely birthday @venusandmars

Chocasaurus · 29/07/2022 07:28

@venusandmars happy birthday for yesterday

@BIWI thanks for the advice, will crack out the high5 today and @StuntNun thanks for the tip, will check it out for a replacement.

@ditavonteesed I'm with you on the seaweed thins

Looking forward to my brekkie of eggs, tomato and mushroom when I get into the office, washed down with a ginger and lemon 'tea' 🍵 repeat of yesterday's delicious tuna and feta salad for lunch 😋

Have a great Friday everyone 😀

Chocasaurus · 29/07/2022 07:35

@Bunce1 stay strong with the diet coke today, great idea taking them out of the fridge - I have been known to drink a warm one in desperation. With the water, every time I get up I finish my glass and get another, trying to make it a habit.

catwithflowers · 29/07/2022 07:55

@ChimneyPot

Low carb cheese muffins
(I wrote this down in my recipe book so may have adapted it slightly ffrom the original! Apologies to the original poster 😂)

100g ground almonds
3 small eggs
30g very cold butter (I grate mine then put it in the freezer for 30 mins)
1 heaped tsp baking powder
100g strong cheese
Chopped chives/spring onion tops
Black pepper

Mix everything together quickly (The butter has to be very cold)
Put into silicone moulds or paper cases and traditional metal muffin tray
Bake at 180 for around 15 minutes
Makes 6 large muffins

If using paper cases, the muffins usually stick if you try to get them out of the paper when they are hot so best left to cool 🙂

not in the first few weeks, obviously.

I was out in the garden picking fruit yesterday. Our cherry trees are absolutely laden with delicious cherries which probably have one of the highest carb values of any fruit. The peas are looking gorgeous and ready for picking too 😩. I will be giving a lot of stuff away!

Fortunately we also have French beans, runners, chard and loads of lettuce so will be making the most of them.

ditavonteesed · 29/07/2022 08:02

Right off to bed, I got moved wards and forgot to take my lunch with me so I just didn't eat anything I did take my lovely water bottle and bloomin left it there so I hope it's still there tonight.

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 29/07/2022 08:06

Thanks for the recipe @StuntNun have you ever tried freezing them by any chance? I'm pretty lazy when it comes to baking so would be great to have a bit of a stash.

Forpoxsake · 29/07/2022 08:17

Belated birthday wishes @ditavonteesed

Cheesies are a great snack if you’re missing the crunch!

for the posted who lives in Ireland - most supermarkets do proper Greek yoghurt sold as their special range (eg Tesco finest)
I get mine from Aldi which is a 10% one but I know Lidl, Tesco and Asda also definitely sell their version too
