Welcome everybody!

Here, thinks to @FinallyHere, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

This Bootcamp will last for eight weeks, with (as ever) the first two weeks being the most strict.

I'll post again tomorrow, but just wanted to get things underway for now Smile

Welcome, @Beeinmybonnets You have been added to the spreadsheet

Anyone whose scales tell them anything other than good news, be assured that sticking to the rules of this bootcamp, really does work. I have a NSV to declare ahead of weighing in day tomorrow: the tops and t-shirts which have not fitted me for ... oh, lets just say ages, now fit perfectly. Hurrah.

Even when I have cold, hard evidence that I have lost inches, I'm still not sure whether I can face stepping on the scales this week. I shall be in the office mid-week, so could give the scales in their gym a go.

The really reliable measure for me, however, is to consider how I will feel after eating or drinking anything. If I stick to how I feel afterwards to guide my choices, I'll keep to Bootcamp and will in time fit into my 'normal' clothes.

All the best, fellow bootcampers.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 31/07/2022 18:28

@ lougle and @FinallyHere well done , I noticed similar on my last bootcamp and it’s a great feeling

I haven’t had a good week really , my head hasn’t been in it , but me and dp no longer have carbs with our meals and prefer it , and I’m ok with the water, too much slippage into sweet stuff

we shall see , but feel I’m not going to see a loss .

pinknsparkly · 31/07/2022 19:44

To the PP who asked about what to drink when gardening for hours on end. I use the sweetener free electrolytes that StuntNun has posted previously. They don't taste great but I chug them with water and then chase with more water! If you want some flavour then BIWI usually recommends the Hi5 Zero electrolyte tablets. I used those when starting my first bootcamp.

Chocasaurus · 31/07/2022 20:01

Just checking in quickly as have an interview in the morning and want to read over my notes.
B = greek yoghurt, L = bolognese with courgetti, D = ham salad. Water = 3.5l plus a coffee.

Today's little big win = avoiding the warm brownies and ice cream I served everyone up at lunch time for dessert.

My mini goals are

  1. 12st7 = overweight bmi rather than obese (I know its a far from perfect indicator but IVF clinics use it)
  2. In the 11s! Hopefully by end of bootcamp
Final goal = 10st. Being ambitious and aiming for Christmas.

Hope the scales are positive for everyone tomorrow 🙏

SummerSazz · 31/07/2022 20:07

@Chocasaurus I was 12.8 to start in Jan, today 10.8 💪

For those worried about intra week fluctuations - here is my last 2 weeksConfused. I've had a weekend away and wedding where I wasn't good and the low was just before my period when I always bizarrely lose 2lbs. But also the journey since Jan.... you can see all the ups and downs but the trend is the most important

I bought myself a new water bottle. This one is 1l and had a large open neck. Somehow it's seemed to make drinking more water way easier. Psychologically, I seem to only easily manage to drink one container of water between each meal. More than that requires quite an effort. However, it turns out that the size of that container doesn't matter and I've found it as easy to drink 4 x 1l bottles as I usually find 4 x pint glasses! I'm up to 3.5l and not even had dinner yet :-D my Tesco order has just arrived, with the buttermint tea I've seen recommended on most bootcamps since I started. It's never seemed to be stocked by my local Tesco until now 😍

B(runch): veggies fried in butter and then egg and feta added to the pan to make a scramble mess. Similar to a PP, I also had to share with a toddler who decided they wanted a second breakfast!
L: coffee with cream due to having late brunch
D: beef in cooking juices + red wine vinegar, reduced. Plus braised cabbage for me (and honey roasted parsnips for my husband...). Probably a cup of buttermint tea to try it out!

3.5l water so far

WhoAteTheChips · 31/07/2022 20:23

I can’t face weighing tomorrow either. If it’s not good it will lead to immediately throwing the towel in. I’m the one at SW that has first week losses on 3oz. Honestly, that’s probably not even a good wee!

Today
B: FF Greek yog. I need to get more inventive for breakfasts. While I happily ate toast and marmalade every day, yog every day is fast losing it’s appeal. But it quick/easy/non processed. Eggs and meat are completely unappealing to me early in the day, which isn’t helping.
L: 2 egg mushroom and spinach omelette with some baby tomatoes
D: Hake fillet with herby butter and roasted brocolli, green beans and courgette.

S: trying not to snack at all but ended up at a picnic this afternoon and was struggling with so much food sitting around so popped across to M&S food for a coffee with cream and a couple of individual cheeses.

water on track.

ChimneyPot · 31/07/2022 20:23

So I was very off plan last night.

Went for dinner with DH and made excellent food choices, ceviche, steak and cheese
but had far too much wine.
Feeling horrendous today. I am too old for this.

Brunch Chicken sausages, bacon and egg
Dinner Aubergine Parmigiana, buttered cabbage and broccoli. An odd combination but the rest of the family were having a roast chicken so I just had the green veg they were having.

@BIWI thanks for the advice on the sodium. Will try to remember to add more to food I never really take it.

Lougle · 31/07/2022 20:46

@WhoAteTheChips you would probably be pleasantly surprised if you did weigh.

@ChimneyPot is there any reason why you couldn't have the roast chicken? Just curious.

B - Greek yoghurt with clotted cream
L - goats cheese salad
D - pork loin steak with marinade (ginger, garlic, tomato puree, oil), quarter pounder burger, BBQ leeks, peppers, mushrooms.

Fluids 4 litres.

ChimneyPot · 31/07/2022 21:02

@Lougle I had left over Aubergine Parmigiana from Friday and it was delicious so wanted to have it before I go to Centerparcs tomorrow.
Also might have been too tempted by the stuffing and roasties if I had the chicken.

CarpetMollusc · 31/07/2022 21:07

Had a very busy and disorganised day so it was a bit snacky. Also drank an oat milk latte a friend bought for me as she didn't know I was low carbing... I know, I know.

B - 2 boiled eggs and mayo, a few nuts, 2 babybel
L - brocoli, Green beans, halloumi, olive oil
D - mushroom omelette, cheese, mayo
S - greek yogurt, cream, peanut butter

colouringindoors · 31/07/2022 22:06

Thanks for the welcomes and tips re electrolytes. Also BIWI for the acohol free l8w carb beer - that will Definitely be going on my Sainsbury's list.

ok day, lots of water 💧
B greek yog
L cucumber, keto crackers and mature cheddar
D chicken, Mozz and sundries tomato salad w olive oil dressing.

Taking kids out for the day tomorrow so am prepped with a chicken, mayo and salad sarnie on keto bread. Will take chunks of cucumber too. Will try and grab some pork crackling snack too.

Is weigh in tomorrow? I've only been bootcamping for a couple of days so am prepping myself for no change. Good luck all!

BasiliskStare · 01/08/2022 03:24

Will be weighing in tomorrow - but seem to have remained 2lb over starting weight all this week. Not sure what I am doing wrong - a little dispiriting . Lovely Dh said - I't s a marathon not a sprint - so will carry on but would have been nice to lose a pound or two rather than going upward. But good news is not going up over that 2lb.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 01/08/2022 07:36

Morning (boot) campers !
as predicted I have stayed the same , but in honesty I struggled getting back into it
so here’s to this week and a better result , looking forward to hearing your losses and nsv ‘s

SettingPrecedents · 01/08/2022 07:50

Morning all! I’m starting properly today, so no results to report. I have however gone through my wardrobe to remind me of all the nice clothes I could wear if I lose weight! Im currently limited to 4-5 outfits which isn’t much fun.

rushka · 01/08/2022 07:51

@Mercedesbenz2022 Well done for getting back to it, though, and hopefully you can now make this a great week! I have only really done half a week, and am a 'lite' camper so am delighted by a 4lb loss. I think it must be water weight but I'm honestly astonished by how different I look. I think one of the benefits of this woe is the speedy beginning which is very motivating.

ditavonteesed · 01/08/2022 07:53

@SettingPrecedents clothes were always a massive motivator for me. I put aside £10 for every pound I lost and when I hit a mini target I spend it on something nice that's fits me. I now have a fabulous wardrobe.

Lougle · 01/08/2022 08:03

Well done for KOKO (keeping on keeping on) even if you've had blips - that's the key. It's a way of eating (WOE) rather than a diet, so we're in it for the long haul. If it's seen as a short term diet, not only will it be hard to stick to, but everything will be undone when usual habits are resumed. So this is about 8 weeks of strict adherence to the rules, then settling into a WOE that either maintains (if at target) or continues achievable weight loss. I started in May and after bootcamp ended I couldn't see the point of coming off of it so I stuck to bootcamp light between bootcamps.

I'm 1.5lbs down this week. That's pretty good considering that I didn't benefit from the whoosh that starting bootcamps bring.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 01/08/2022 08:11

@rushka , thank you
koko .. well done for a 4lb loss

CarpetMollusc · 01/08/2022 08:22

I've been weighing daily and fluctuating quite a bit, so on the basis of going for the lowest weight of the week, I've lost 3.8lbs, which I'm very happy with. I had a couple of minor blips but straight back on it.
Really focused for this week ahead because then I've got a week in Italy to contend with....

greentrees9 · 01/08/2022 08:48

Morning - seem some good losses well done! I’ve just weighed myself and exactly the same! So not sure what I’m doing wrong, drinking plenty of water, maybe my portion sizes are too big? As my lunch or dinner tends to be either eggs and salad or chicken / salmon with green veg. I’m planning on tracking my carbs via myfitnesspal just to see where I am - maybe I’m not low enough.

Lougle · 01/08/2022 08:59

@greentrees9 are you having enough fat?

BIWI · 01/08/2022 09:03

Apologies - I thought I'd posted a link to the new thread, but it seems to have disappeared!

Here it is - link to the week 2 chat thread

That is a brilliant idea! I struggle with motivation too, esp after week three when losses subside. Might do the same!
