Welcome everybody!

Here, thinks to @FinallyHere, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

This Bootcamp will last for eight weeks, with (as ever) the first two weeks being the most strict.

I'll post again tomorrow, but just wanted to get things underway for now Smile

It does all get more intuitive quite quickly, so do hang in there. Keto rash sounds uncomfortable! @WhoAteTheChips !

B - IF
L - IF
D - BBQ quarter-pounder, 2 slices halloumi, BBQ peppers, mushrooms & tomatoes, lettuce.

Fluids: 600ml tea; 3700mls water.

Hi all, I'm back from my week away which was camping and group catering, meaning very little choice aka lots of carbs. Am determined to get back to it as I'd felt so great the week before when I began. Very glad to have a group to motivate me! I'll add my details to the spreadsheet tomorrow hopefully...

Lougle · 29/07/2022 22:22

@rushka welcome back. Did you have a good time.

Lougle · 29/07/2022 22:23

My ? is missing!

@rushka welcome back. Did you have a good time.

Hope you had a great time @rushka .

I am off camping.... it is going to be a challenge but I think I will survive - taking a good supply of low carb crackers and olives etc, and some low carb rice and noodles. I will have the pasta sauce and just substitute those for pasta. (My kids live on pasta when we camp!). I am sure we will be doing a lot of walking, so hope that will help ..

rushka · 29/07/2022 23:02

Thanks, @Lougle and @comfortablyfrumpy it was fun... and I"m sure you could do better on the food choices - I wasn't in charge of that bit so just had to go with the flow! But it did make me feel noticeably grim at times so just experiencing that contrast will hopefully help make me want to stick to this low-carb lark.

Bit easier for me as my daughters will be cooking and they are very supportive of me following this WOE.

Did you find carbs made you feel bit yuk? Whilst ai do crave bread at times (I bake it weekly for family) the thought of a lot of stodge just isn't doing it for me any more. I now wonder what my body would say if I chugged a load of carbs!

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 29/07/2022 23:37

I've been feeling really snacky today, guess things are still settling down...

B: Greek yoghurt, coffee with cream
S: coffee with cream
L: ricotta stuffed peppers, olives, courgette ribbons, cucumber, lettuce, oily dressing
S: Couple of spoons of Greek yoghurt
D: Bolognese on Savoy cabbage

This weekend will be my first big challenge - going to stay with family and no idea what they'll be cooking! Hopefully I'll be able to give the carbs a swerve but I'd rather not tell them I'm low carbing as they'll mither me all weekend about it 😬

Lougle · 30/07/2022 08:53

That is a lot of dairy @ChairOfInvisibleStudies do you think that might be why you feel so snacky? The bulk of your calories will have come from cream or yoghurt.

bluefortheready · 30/07/2022 09:23

I am now on holiday and very much at the mercy of whatever is on offfer
Last night was fish and chips so had the fish - if at home I would have left the batter but quite frankly I didn't want to have the questions from people and bloody hell it was gorgeous.
Would like to keep posting this week as I definitely don't want to think sod it - really because I just don't want to - so lunch is a fry up which is easy and out for dinner tonight and looking at menu will be no problem so today should be good - Greek yoghurt for breakfast.

5thWisdom · 30/07/2022 09:26

Morning all.

Managed the day without a High5 Zero yesterday so am hopefully over the headache carb flu stage now. A completely different experience to previous times I've tried low-carbing and relieved to feel that the worst of that is over.

Gave blood, turned down the offer of an orange Club biscuit afterwards in favour of a black coffee Grin Walked 14,000 steps there and back. Ignored all of the couples and groups drinking Friday evening Prosecco in the park on the way home Grin The thought of the morning headache was enough to put me off actually - and not craving carbs at all.

Feeling lighter with lots of energy this morning. Excited to weigh on Monday.

My skin is looking so much better already, smoother, less puffy - a mere 5 days in.

I hope everyone has a positive Saturday.

Water, water, water!

WhoAteTheChips · 30/07/2022 09:34

I’m still feeling a bit rubbish. Headachy, smelly and itchy! On the plus side, my upper belly has definitely subsided a bit and I feel I look less jowl-y. Enough pluses to keep me motivated.

venusandmars · 30/07/2022 09:39

@bluefortheready I find it interesting how often I can find lovely low carb options on menus (except fish and chip / pizza places). You can always post menus here if you need any help.

Food today:
Brunch - coffee with cream, eggs, bacon, mushrooms
D - homemade Thai green curry with loads of veg and some prawns

prettybird · 30/07/2022 10:28

Up 0.5lb this morning - just to illustrate how our weight can fluctuate daily.

Still down 4lb since Monday Smile

I'll not mention how much dh has lost despite his glass of wine last night and his daily banana Hmm

ChimneyPot · 30/07/2022 10:31

Morning all.
I forgot to put yesterday food in yesterday post.
it was
B- eggs, spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes fried in butter
L- 1/3 tub of M&S Greek salad anti pasti
D- homemade BC compliant aubergine parmigiana with green salad which was delicious
s- a few olives and a small amount of cheese
water over 5 litres

How much water is too much? Prior to BC I was having about a lite a day but it has skyrocketed. I am not forcing myself to drink it I am just constantly thirsty.

Today menu is
Brunch- eggs and veg fried in butter
Lunch- a bit more Greek salad
Dinner- going to lovely restaurant with DH. I have checked the menu and can make lovely choices that fit with BC

I am planning on having 2 glasses of wine tonight. I know it is against the rules but it is day 13 for me and DH haven’t been out on our own in ages. I had planned it for Monday so week 3 for me but am now going to Centerparcs with DS so tonight it is.

Forpoxsake · 30/07/2022 11:57

@ChimneyPot the constant thirst could be low potassium or electrolytes (I forget which one - someone wiser will be along to advise) I experienced it on a previous bootcamp.
are you adding salt to your food and as you cook it?
try adding a pinch of salt to water and whoosh it down (I try to do this at least once a day because I find I retain any large amount of water I’ve drank, not sure if it’s science or just a coincidence)

rushka · 30/07/2022 12:44

@comfortablyfrumpy Yes, I felt noticeably bad! Both in my body and also mood. Am hoping this will motivate me to say 'no' even when something looks tempting!

rushka · 30/07/2022 12:50

So helpful to see what everyone is posting for meals. I started meal planning last night and felt a bit worried about how I'd manage it as a veggie, but have recovered and think it's all fine really! I eat fish and just need to get a bit more into Tofu! I have Rose Elliot's book so need to study it a bit more closely...

I'm doing the LC 'lite' version for health reasons, which basically means I am keeping fruit on the menu.
So far today it's been greek yoghurt with a nectarine, blueberries, ground flaxseeds and chia seeds.
Lunch will be niçoise salad
Supper is going to be cauliflower&broccoli cheese, with the rest of the family having gammon and potatoes or pasta if they like.

bluefortheready · 30/07/2022 13:12

Thanks @venusandmars there is fennel and barrata- assume fennel is ok ? Then either wagya Ragu if not with pasta or sea bass or duck leg but the duck leg will probably come with a sweet sauce ? These are small plates as seems to be kinder on cards so may go for two of them for a main

colouringindoors · 30/07/2022 16:39

(sneaking in late at the back) Started yesterday... Catching up with all the posts 😊. Really, really need to do this as am very low about my weight. I suspect it's also not helping my suspected peri menopausal heat intolerance either. Very interested to hear how people manage on holiday too.

Advice please:
I'm currently doing a gardening job in SE (hot) 2 days a week. I get through at least 4 litres of fluids while I'm working, half water, half very weak fruit juice with a little salt added as I sweat so much 🥵 Obviously the fruit juice is now a No, but I'm a bit concerned that only water won't be sufficient to keep electrolytes etc in balance. If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

colouringindoors · 30/07/2022 16:42

Oh and meals wise
B Greek yog
L 2 slices keto bread for mackerel sarnie with mayo, butter and loads of salad.
D not sure yet. Fancy a garlicky lemony chicken type thing with veg...

After the first two weeks I'm also after suggestions for bootcamp lite ice lolly ideas! Cream, rasps and a bit of water frozen down?!

colouringindoors · 30/07/2022 16:44

@venusandmars your thai curry sounds fab! Do you make it all from scratch or use a paste and coconut milk type method?

colouringindoors · 30/07/2022 16:55

StuntNun · 29/07/2022 06:33

@Chocasaurus I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners so I buy an unsweetened electrolyte powder https://amzn.eu/d/bv8bJyaa* instead of the Zero tablets. I've been using it for years and even the small 100g packs last ages.

Oooh that's exactly what I need!

colouringindoors · 30/07/2022 16:57

@comfortablyfrumpy would you mind posting the recipe for those cheese crackers please?

colouringindoors · 30/07/2022 17:16

@FinallyHere if not a nightmare, could you add me to spreadsheet? (original weight 173) Don't worry if not poss though. Will keep track.
