Just getting the opening of the thread started, as there's a lot I want to post before we get into tomorrow! Grin

Firstly, here's the all-important disclaimer:

I'm not a medic. I'm not a scientist, nutritionist or dietician. Everything that I write here is based on the reading I've done over the last 15 or so years. You sign up and take part in Bootcamp at your own risk - although I fervently hope there are no risks!

Please note, if you're taking any long-term medication, especially for hypertension or diabetes or high cholesterol, you should consult your GP; low carbing (for most people) will bring high blood pressure and cholesterol levels down, and will help regulate your blood sugar levels - so the dosage of your medication may need to be reviewed, if not reduced

A note about weighing

Each Monday I'll re-post the spreadsheet for you to add your weight. Weight is the most conventional way that we monitor progress, but it isn't the only way, and actually isn't always the most accurate way. It's not unknown for people to see no change on the scales, yet to know that they've lost weight as their clothes are fitting better.

You don't have to weigh (and nor do you need to be on the spreadsheet), but it is always helpful to know how you're progressing, as this helps to keep you focused. There are two other important ways to do this:

1 - take your measurements. Hips, waist and bust, as well as upper thigh and upper arms.

2 - find an article of clothing that currently just a little too tight - a pair of jeans, or a blouse - and try them on each week. This is the most tangible way to see how things are working for you.

You can do these as well as weighing of course!

............................................................................................................

Also, before we really get going, a plea for good thread etiquette!

The threads will move very quickly (especially in the first couple of weeks). But please, please, please read everything that's been posted. Use the bookmark facility so that you don't lose your place. Don't just jump on the thread to post your own stuff without bothering to read what others have posted

It is very wearing when we have to keep answering the same questions, because posters haven't bothered to read what's gone before!

Sorry @UnOeufIsEnough I'm not sure what it's done, I noticed when I sorted it earlier it wasn't sorting all the rows, I'll need to look at it on my computer tomorrow as I've only got my phone here. I did undo though and it looked like it had reversed back to the correct position but sounds like it may not have.

I'm not sorting it now until I can work out what's gone wrong.

All - check your week 1 weight if you get a chance, and correct it if it's wrong. I promise I'll not sort it again if it's going to break it 😬

No worries @Baystard! Thanks so much for taking on the spreadsheet maintenance. Smile

Hello all and thank you BIWI.

I've joined in with you all as a lurker a couple of times but will try to post this time.

I have a stubborn stone that I've laid down over the past 7 years (I'm late 40s). It's the start of middle age spread and I want to reverse the trend.

This weekend have been camping which is awesome for low carbing - BBQ meats, salads, coleslaw, bacon&egg breakfast! I've not missed out at all. I did drink because frankly I can't camp without a drink but only gin and slimline tonic so no carbs.

I'll post today's food despite the fact it was a result of travelling...

B - half an avocado
L - a quarter pounder with cheese (no bun!), Extra salad and lettuce and bacon from a service station McDonalds
D - Stilton omelette

Bit rubbish to have a MaccieD's the first day of healthier eating but the M5 was a cruel mistress.

Proper 2 week starts tomorrow!!

Yes, I think my weight is showing 3 cells up now. I've added my weight in again on my correct cell but it means that the person 3 up from me probably has an incorrect weight in.

UnOeufIsEnough · 02/05/2022 20:02

Thanks so much for maintaining the spreadsheet @Baystard. I don't envy you Smile

mimosa1 · 02/05/2022 20:37

Hi all, I'm fatter than I've ever been so I'm thrilled that I've caught the beginning of a boot camp. Thanks to everyone running it.

bella1426 · 02/05/2022 20:56

I have had 5000 wees today 🫤

Furball · 02/05/2022 21:26

@Baystard I was just coming on to say the spreadsheet looks like it's been added to name wise so my today weight was also showing 2 cells up, Now I'm not sure if that person really is the same weight as me, but it sounds similar to @Lougle - So I've re typed my weight back in and left the other one 2 cells up

@Baystard - The way I understand it is my weight should be in the start weight box and also the same weight in todays weigh in cell? giving a 0 lb loss so far?? Is that right? I noticed some had only put it in todays box giving a minus of your whole weight for week 1 ??

Jezzballs2000 · 02/05/2022 21:34

Hello everyone! Excited to be on boot camp once again. Thanks Biwi and Baystard! I did my first one in January and lost 5lb that I really wanted off but stalled after an initial whoosh. I am now off migraine medication which was affecting my weight and hoping this next BC will do wonders. I have a two year old so the usual post partum weight gain and nibbling the end of their fish fingers issue. I made a very good pork fillet (i brined it, game changer!) and a very weird celeriac bake with mustard and creme fraiche. Not recommended.
i accidentally mindlessly ate a few roast potatoes and had berries for lunch but otherwise pretty good!

B tea with milk, yogurt and cream and a few berries
S black coffee
L scrambled eggs with asparagus, shallots, mushrooms and smoked salmon and budddddaaaa (butter)
D accidental potatoes roast pork weird celeriac thing

Furball · 02/05/2022 21:40

Not a bad day

I'm gobsmacked that 2 boiled eggs for breakfast filled me up til lunch, I'd be snacking on fruit way before lunch on previous days.

In fact I wasn't really ravenous at lunchtime, just pleasantly hungry. so had a greek salad with tomato/cucumber/spring onion/olives/feta and tzatziki and a slice cheese wrapped in ham.

I managed to avoid the afternoon tea which was planned and just had a small slice of bakewell slice - I know! - it really won't happen again - I promise. its just relatives are staying so wanted to treat me. - not really an excuse and I know I am going to have to navigate properly for future. - to be honest it wasn't really that great, so a good reminder that these things just arent worth it.

and tonight I had left over roast pork, a bit of crackling (bloody lush) and bubble and squeak made with yesterdays cauliflower/broccoli/sprouts.

I wondered that @Furball but @Baystard put this on the other thread yesterday:

"Baystard · 01/05/2022 08:01

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness - if you have signed up you will see your name.

You'll see two boxes, the first says "original" weight/date and this is where those who want to record their starting weight from a previous bootcamp do so. Then there's one for starting weight for this bootcamp that you record tomorrow."

So I read that as meaning that if it's our first bootcamp, we only enter our starting weight in the box for today.

Lucienandjean · 02/05/2022 21:56

I think I finally got all that water in me. I've spent most of the day in the loo!
Todays food:
B: coffee with cream, and a boiled egg (I hate breakfast)
L: salad with prawns and lots of mayo.
S: a slice of cheese
D: low-carb chilli, avocado, soured cream, and grated cheese.

Furball · 02/05/2022 21:56

@Lougle - Thank you! - I missed that so I'll amend

BIWI · 02/05/2022 22:14

@Jezzballs2000 berries aren't allowed in the first two weeks of Bootcamp!

TheRealShedSadie · 02/05/2022 22:23

Thanks for your comment BIWI about more veg. I do usually have salad with lunch so it threw me today being out. Extra greens tomorrow!

WitchWand · 02/05/2022 23:18

Thanks so much for this new bootcamp @BIWI . I shifted a lot of weight a year ago and I relaxed just after Christmas. A little bread here and a little wine there, here a kilo, there a kilo ... anyway, to cut a long story short, I'm glad to be back.

I won't be able to weigh in until I get home on Wednesday when I'll be able to start in earnest. I'm away for work till then and I can't always choose what I eat. That said, I've done my best to keep carbs low today and I'm excited about the prospect of seeing my slim self emerge in time for summer.

Looking forward to sharing this journey with fellow boot campers !😀

heliosfountain · 02/05/2022 23:42

I love a busy bootcamp thread! Hello everyone!

@Mercedesbenz2022, I love the sound of your bright pink wide legged trousers!

@ThinkAboutItTomorrow this has hit me so hard since turning 40! I can gain 5lbs so easily (in a weekend, no joke), then it'll take me 3-4 weeks to lose those lbs again. Aaarrrggghhh!

@TidyDancer and @Lucienandjean I have a massive amount to lose too and started off in November at nearly 20 stone, but I have gone from a size 24/26 to a tight size 20 since then. Now my sights are firmly set on all my lovely size 18 clothes!

My meals today:-
L:- homemade tomato soup (at a friend's house - her chef husband had made it through frozen it and she wasn't entirely sure what was in it but there were definitely no potatoes in it and it wasn't sweet like there were carrots in it so I think I'm fine here)
T:- @BIWI's cauliflower cheese. I'm a bootcamp oldie (name change frequently) and this is one of my faves! Double cream, mature cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, lemon and more cheese - WIN!

I am already missing ground almonds, berries, pine nuts, seeds etc but only 13 days to go until Bootcamp Light!

Thanks all - what a great day 1.

APerfectlyGoodName · 03/05/2022 00:27

@BIWI thanks for the fats reminder. I thought the creamy coffee was enough but I was hungry later.
B. 3eggs, mushrooms and creamy coffee.
L. Salmon, hollandaise, green beans and leaves.
D. Pork belly, black pudding and more salad.
S. Greek yogurt.

I coul couldn't find that Kerridge recipe @prettybird . Would you mind reposting it please?

water drank!

Ulelia · 03/05/2022 04:43

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I edited my weight on the spreadsheet as the mix-up was showing me as having lost 74lbs in the first day... I wish!!

I only managed two meals because I got up so late due to my hangover 😳
But I had:
L: salad with egg mayo
T: spinach and paneer curry, prawns, and tikka panner. Delicious.
Drank 4l of water and only needed the toilet about three times, worrying how dehydrated you can get!

HaveGogglesWillTravel · 03/05/2022 06:52

Good to be back. Thanks to BIWI and Baystard. I undertook bootcamp in January for the first time. Loved it. Felt great and lost loads of weight. I weighed yesterday and am pleased to see I've largely stayed the same. I've enjoyed this way of eating so much that I've been able to largely stick to the principles in between bootcamps but with the odd discretion at Easter & birthday. Already feeling better for being back with you all. I had a good food day yesterday but water was a challenge as I was out and about at an open gardens event. I'm high on the beauty of tulips this morning. Good luck to everyone.

pinknsparkly · 03/05/2022 06:58

Morning all. I had a bit of a carby day yesterday due to visiting family who really really really don't get low carb eating so I ended up with a cheese sandwich! I'm starting from this morning but having weighed myself just now, am pleased to find I'm only 0.1kg up from the end of last bootcamp. Onwards and downwards!!

pinknsparkly · 03/05/2022 07:07

I can't read my own records.... I've actually lost 2 and a bit kg since the last bootcamp finished in mid March. And have put in only 0.1kg since I last weighed myself in mid April. It's definitely easier to lose during bootcamp than on my own though so I'm very grateful to @BIWI for running them!

TheOnlyMrsW · 03/05/2022 07:19

Didn't manage as much water yesterday, only 2l so need to be better today am working so will actually be easier than when out and about. Dinner went well yesterday, one of the specials was chicken wrapped in bacon with spinach, mushroom cream sauce and potatoes so had that without the potatoes and shared a cheese platter with MIL for dessert - she had the apples and crackers and I had the celery. Was lovely and I drove so easy to avoid alcohol.
Onwards today, plan is more egg muffins for breakfast, enchilada soup for lunch and fish florentine for dinner.........
@HaveGogglesWillTravel I love tulips, it's so nice to see them all in people's gardens

Jezzballs2000 · 03/05/2022 07:39

@BIWI sorry for the berries aberration, I was on auto pilot but from today will be 100% boot camp aligned!

I am off work with my toddler so will have to navigate the local church playgroup which is replete with tons of homemade cakes. i had avoided them for ages and around Easter allowed myself to be tempted which started a bad run. Not today. Thankfully they serve surprisingly good filter coffee so I can have a few of those.

My plan for today
B yogurt with a dash of cream- no berries!
L eggs with veg and cheese
D LC lasanga with aubergine instead of pasta

and plenty of water!

Baystard · 03/05/2022 07:40

I'm 4lb heavier today than I was this time last week but I had a big weekend gardening and am still very sore so it's probably water retention around these sore muscles.

Black coffee for breakfast, might be my favourite 'meal' of the day sitting quietly for 10 mins before the family surface with really nice fresh coffee.

I'm on my own for lunch and dinner today so might fast one or other of them depending on how i feel later (I've been intermittent fasting for years). I have high fat chilli (without beans) in the fridge which I'll have with avocado and shoogled cabbage.
