Week 7 - Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 23/05/2021 22:09

Evening all. Starting next week's thread early as I still have family here and it's difficult to get away to the laptop. The only reason I can do it now is that I'm in bed, really not feeling too well Sad

Anyway here's the spreadsheet

I hope everyone sees a good result.

Really interesting and insightful posts about cravings and comfort eating. I actually think this is what makes low carbing (or any diet, frankly) so hard. The relationship we have with food is such a complex one.

I'm so very sorry @Random789. Have you found it possible to grieve for your DS with the inquest still ongoing? You haven't derailed the thread at all and I for one am thankful that you felt able to share. Remember to try to treat yourself as your oldest, dearest friend.

ElasticFirecracker · 24/05/2021 12:48

@Random789 Thanks

BSky · 24/05/2021 12:52

@Random789 💐 - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You absolutely haven’t derailed this thread.

Do be kind to yourself as @nowlook says and I hope you have the support networks you need right now.

EarlGreyHot · 24/05/2021 13:41

@Random789 Flowers so sorry for your loss. I think you're incredibly brave for sharing your thoughts around emotional eating in response to trauma. Thanks for that and take care

MrsBertBibby · 24/05/2021 14:01

I'm so sorry Random.

Jollyholibobs · 24/05/2021 14:22

So sorry @Random789 Flowers.

Chunkymonkey123 · 24/05/2021 14:25

So sorry @Random789, I can’t imagine how awful that must be 💐

Stokey · 24/05/2021 14:57

So sorry for your loss @Random789. it's very brave of you to share on here & completely agree with the different traumas and stresses everyone had going on in their lives that affect their eating. Great advice from @nowlook too

ditavonteesed · 24/05/2021 15:27

@Random789 💐 so sorry

StuntNun · 24/05/2021 15:45

It's not derailing at all Random789; this is a support group and emotional times are bound to have an impact on how you eat. Please keep sharing if you feel you need support.

Bestbees · 24/05/2021 17:39

@Random789 Flowers I echo what everyone else has said. You are not derailing but speaking from the heart. Imagine us all sending you positive vibes (if that is not too much) and surrounding you with some comfort.

@Random789 Flowers sorry for your loss.
It's good to share how you feel.

nowlook · 24/05/2021 18:23

Are you still here @cheeseisthebest? I've a spreadsheet to update Grin

TheHoover · 24/05/2021 19:07

Congrats on big milestones miles and nowlook and all others with great losses.
But congrats also to everyone without a loss kokoing and those back on plan after a wobble - for you have enormous admiration. I am someone who never comes back on plan after going off - that’s my history for 32 years. I think to date I have never ever picked up a diet after a holiday ‘holiday’. This year must be different.

2.5lb down on the scales so a stone off now during this boot camp in total Smile

Flowers to random

MrsKoala · 24/05/2021 19:22

That sounds so incredibly hard @Random789 you must be so very strong to be still koko. Personally I'm not an emotional eater, but I am an emotional drinker and that gets me in to all kinds of messes. Flowers I hope you are being really kind to yourself.

I've put on a few pounds which is a bit disappointing as I had a couple of very small planned 'cheats' to see if I could hold 11st11. I had 1 poppadom on Friday, half a slice of sourdough on Sat and a dessert spoon of bulgar wheat on Sunday. and I'm now 12st. I don't think any of those are particularly outrageous amounts of carbs so I was hoping my body would tolerate them, but obviously not atm. So back to it today and I've been ravenous.

B - yog, blueberries and a few chopped nuts
L - 2 egg mushroom, spinach and cheese omelette
S - a slice of low carb bread and emmental and a dessertspoon of peanut butter
D - gammon, cauliflower and leek cheese bake and broccoli.

Pleaseandthankyou · 24/05/2021 19:38

@Random789 💐

Moonswimmer · 24/05/2021 20:29

@Random789 sending you lots of love

cheeseisthebest · 24/05/2021 20:38

Placemarking, want to read properly later. Also not feeling too well, think I'm getting a summer cold.

LittleDoritt · 24/05/2021 20:57

Sorry you aren't well BIWI.

Happy birthday JellyCat.

Random, I'm so sorry that your son passed away. I know so well how eating to preserve blankness feels. I lost my sister to anorexia last year, and sometimes I find myself eating in a kind of fog, to try and fill the emptiness.

Friday and Saturday were fog eating days, but I seem to be out of it again and back on track since, albeit with a teeny 0.6lb loss this week.

Moonswimmer · 24/05/2021 20:58

B: black coffee and almonds
L: reheated pork stir fry
D: bowl of spicy chilli (no kidney beans), with side of avocado and tomato salad.

W: worst day for a while!

cheeseisthebest · 24/05/2021 21:01

Random thinking of you and thank you for sharing Flowers
Yes I'm here, not weighing this week this though, it's not going very well after my night out!

ElasticFirecracker · 24/05/2021 21:03

B cheese crackers cream cheese cucumber
L cheese crackers yoghurt
D: Brussels sprouts with pasta sauce lettuce cucumber yoghurt
Water maybe not quite enough.

BestIsWest · 24/05/2021 21:10

Random Flowers. You are right to share. Sending love.

Timetobuckup · 24/05/2021 22:09

@Random789 I am so sorry to hear about your son , and to be going through an inquest is doubly shit.

Do you know about the compassionate friends ? They are nowhere near as twee as they sound. My son died 20 years ago and they have given me the best of friends .
