New Year, New Start Week 2: This WoE works!

Welcome to Week 2 - the one where many of us (especially the newbies) will see the biggest drops. For those that don't, the drops will come. We will have seen other benefits too: brighter eyes, smaller waist (with the reduction of dangerous visceral fat from around our organs) - and all without feeling hungry Smile Week 2 is also when I find that my pschological urge to snack reduces.

Remember that you still need to adhere to the Rules. This is not a forgiving Way of Eating and if you cheat, you will set back the process of getting your body to adapt to fat burning. Only one more week of being ultra strict - it is only one more week Smile If you're thinking of cheating, come on here and we will talk you down. It really helps if you are prepared and have low carb snacks with you, or drink some water when you think you are hungry.

Keep drinking the required water ( StuntNun has explained why this is important). Avoid nuts and seeds (unless you are veggie), all fruit (you can look forward to the odd treat of berries from next week) - and no alcohol or artificial sweetender for another week.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here to remind you to keep to the straight and narrow with the Rules and with resources to advise you. You can weigh-in if you choose to, but it is not compulsory. Over the weeks, your weight loss will start to average 1-2lb a week, sometimes more sometimes less .

The Week 1 Spillover thread is here.

Olives! Should have got some of those as well. Never mind. I am thinking heroic thoughts.

IAmSamSamlAm · 19/01/2018 20:45

Checked out for a few days as was a proper carby twat on my birthday. Gutted as have put on 2lbs Sad weird how you can eat shit all the week normally and not put anything on, but one bad day on LC and everything's ruined! Ah well, onwards and upwards. Back on it now. Didn't really enjoy the food anyway though I did the wine.

Have pork belly in the oven. Want to do those microwave sprouts, but have no cling film. Did I read that a PP just uses a plate? So literally sprouts and butter in a bowl with a plate on top? Will that work?

Please reply quickly as it's nearly ready Grin

LeapinLizards · 19/01/2018 20:48

Yes, sam. Plate will be fine if you leave a small gap for steam. Think it was prettybird who said it was better with a plate. Hope they're tasty - enjoy!

prettybird · 19/01/2018 21:08

I do it with a plate - but I don't leave a gap. The whole point is to get them to steam while microwaving Grin

It does mean that you need to be careful when lifting the plate off though Shock - but no more careful than you have to be when piercing the cling film.

In fact my supper tonight was a bowl of buttered microwaved brussels Smile while dh and ds had Lidl curries and Indian snacks. I've had a bad day snacking wise - eaten far too much cheese, salami and pepperami Blush

My empty bowl was supposed to have done enough to have some left over to have cold tomorrow Blush

Just caught up again. Liking the brownie recipes! I have a sort of NSV to report although it isn’t perfect.
We have had a terrible week as one of my DC’s was physically assaulted badly on Wednesday night and although thank god he will be ok it has been really shocking. His car has been trashed as well.I got in from A&E at 3am on Thursday morning had 3 hours sleep and went off to run an intense session at work. Last night I got in at 2100 and was so close to having a bottle of wine but didn’t. I had a couple of dark choc squares after a cheese salad instead. Then tonight said DC asked for pizza from the local pub and DH wanted one too and I thought sod it I will have one too. I brought them home and then a small miracle occurred when without any planning I simply ate the topping and then threw away all the base. Didn’t need it, didn’t want it, didn’t even think of eating it. Remarkable. Not all, perfect because I have had some Pinot Grigio but given this week’s events I’ll take the consequences of that send be grateful things weren’t a great deal worse. ☹️

SayrraT · 19/01/2018 21:23

blackmozart that's terrible, hope your son is alright. Really well done on sticking to lc though, it's always hard when there are emotional things to deal with too.

BlackMozart · 19/01/2018 21:25

Thanks Sayrra it just show my habitual, patterns are changing.

Alwaysinmyheart · 19/01/2018 21:26

BlackMozart oh that must have been so upsetting for you, I hope your DC is ok. But well done for sticking to the diet in the face of all that. Xx

BlackMozart · 19/01/2018 21:41

Thanks always

Checking in after a super-busy week. I've been pretty good, although yesterday was a challenge - DH and I had the day off and went into London.

Lunchtime I dragged him into Yo Sushi, thinking there is always loads of lovely sashimi and salads....and of course every single dish that came round the conveyor belt had flipping rice on it, so after ten minutes of fruitless hunting I had to order something specially.

Dinnertime he wanted to go to Duck & Waffle - ohhh, I would have killed for his meal of a duck burger and duck-fat chips, but I virtuously had fish with a side order of delicious chargrilled broccoli. Then he had pudding (dammit!), and I didn't want to sit there staring at his plate, so I ordered another plateful of broccoli. You could see the waitress thinking "hmm, weirdo".

Tonight I cooked Lamb Keema, from the IPD book, with zero rice. It was nice enough, but not amazing.

I'm probably not eating enough fat....

TitusAndromedon · 19/01/2018 22:02

blackmozart, that’s so awful. I hope your son is okay (and you, too). Flowers

Today is my first day low carbing with my husband around. He’s been working abroad since the start of boot camp, and I do find it hard to eat sensibly around him. It’s gone well today, though! We went out for lunch and I had gambas al pil pil to start and a steak with tenderstem broccoli for the main. I skipped the chips entirely and my boys ate the olive bread.

For dinner we decided to get supermarket curries for speed and ease. I picked up some of the Waitrose celeriac rice, which I sautéed in butter, and served my curry on top. It was really delicious and I think I’ll definitely be trying the celeriac rice again.

We’re at a friend’s house for dinner tomorrow and they’re doing chilli. One of them is vegetarian, so I’m not sure if they’ll be doing just one veggie curry (which would surely be full of various kinds of beans) or if there will be a meat one as well and I can pick the beans out. May take along a few bits to stave off hunger. I can always eat more when I get home.

BlackMozart · 19/01/2018 22:05

Thanks Titus we will get through it no doubt and I will koko because of the support and wisdom on here.

RaindropsAndSparkles · 19/01/2018 22:05

blackmozart Flowers sounds horrendous. Hope you are all ok.

BlackMozart · 19/01/2018 22:10

Thank you raindrops yes we are doing ok and other family members have rallied round so he is feeling very supported.

nekobus · 19/01/2018 22:12

That's awful black Thanks

Alwaysinmyheart · 19/01/2018 22:13

So tonight I had a bit of a disaster but also discovered something great! I made a yummy chicken curry and found a recipe for 'focaccia ' bread that I thought I could adapt to make into a naan. However it was much too cheesy to go with a curry, but would be great as a pizza base! Much better than the fat boy pizza which is made with coconut flour. So, happy to have discovered a new v useful recipe, even if it was by accident!😀

Rshard · 19/01/2018 22:15

For you and your family. blackmozart Flowers

BlackMozart · 19/01/2018 22:16

Where did you find the recipe always?

BlackMozart · 19/01/2018 22:17

nekobus and rshard’ thank you for your messages.

Alwaysinmyheart · 19/01/2018 22:34

This is my 'focaccia ' bread, it's v yummy!

BlackMozart · 19/01/2018 23:55

Ooh that does look good. I will try that one😊

SayrraT · 20/01/2018 04:44

always that looks very similar to the fathead pizza base I normally use. The diet doctor has a recipe for nann bread as well but I've never tried it as it requires physilium husk and mine never arrived.

I might try the recipe you've linked.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 20/01/2018 06:45

Oh, your poor lad, BlackMozart. I hope the shock's wearing off a bit, and the police catch whoever did it. Flowers

I have a question for the mock-bread makers - does it make you feel more tempted to eat the real thing? I've steered clear so far in case I end up thinking it's ok to sneak the real thing since it's so similar...

LeapinLizards · 20/01/2018 07:13

Flowers for blsckmozart. What a shocking thing to happen. Hope police are on it & in the meantime he's recovering well. You did amazingly well to stay LC after such an awful imcident
