Hi there, have recently split with my partner and am in need of a break! I would like to go somewhere abroad, possibly Sardinia with my DS who will turn 3 in June. Any suggestions would be great please. Budget - well the cheaper the better! Thanks

Do you know where you want to go? Honeypot. Do you like the beach? what do you like to do? Chloe and I love the beach, and we are happy to just go to playgrounds, go swimming that sort of thing. Also the benefit of hotel, no meals to cook, and kids club

honeypot01 · 15/04/2005 15:13

i was looking at Majorca, somewhere close to a beach, as Jordan likes the beach and really into swimming at the mo. Just somewhere with sun thats not too pricey really. Haven't looked at teletext hols yet, they're usually cheap.

honeypot01 · 15/04/2005 15:52

are any of us near each other to arrange a meet? im in north london. I'd like the cheaper the better!

Just put this link to see if anyone interested in any of these. They have free child places even if 1 adult and one child,

TheVillageIdiot · 17/04/2005 20:29

honeypot01 · 19/04/2005 09:41

Hope ur ok now, im still up for it, prefer abroad thou as i want some sun!!! when r u looking at?

TheVillageIdiot · 19/04/2005 09:50

Whenever really. Would like to go abroad, I need to get DD a passport so it will have to be a couple of months away at least. I don't know how long it will take but will try and find out at the weekend.

Am also up for going in the UK to for the likes of Janna and others.

Could do a week abroad and 4 days/1 week at butlins or something.

honeypot01 · 19/04/2005 12:41

sounds good, my family are going away last wk of Sept, so ideally would like to go that time of year but don't mind,

TheVillageIdiot · 19/04/2005 12:48

Sept for abroad? sounds good. It will be slightly cooler then so prob better for the kids too as they'll be less likely to get irritated by the heat.

For this country might be nice to try for July/August when the whether is good? on the other hand I can go anytime so open to suggestions

honeypot01 · 19/04/2005 12:52

that sounds good., my son doesn't start big school til Sept 06 so thats fine. He's at day nursery at mo, so can take him out when i want, like like the school nurseries. I'm off today and tom, had to use 2 days hols from last yr otherwise i wont have them to take!! Went to opticians to choose some glasses for driving. Im learning at mo but apparantly cant read reg plate from distance. Thankfully didnt have to pay as i get tax credits! Have a good day!

honeypot01 · 19/04/2005 16:18

if you register at gingerbread.org.uk you get discounts at UK holiday places, ones i know of are Butlins, Haven, Eurocamp and other days out too.

TheVillageIdiot · 19/04/2005 16:27

hola!

I am a member of gingerbread. Excellent news about the learning to drive. Do you like your glasses?

honeypot01 · 19/04/2005 16:34

i thought some of you might be just thought let u know. I am too, not sure how it works thou, think you quote a code or something.

Gotta pick glasses up next wk, but yes they look good, jus dreading the 1st day i wear them at work cos i need them for comp and driving!

Janna · 20/04/2005 10:17

hello everyone..

Sorry I haven't contributed much.I probably won't come on the abroad trip if thats ok,, not got my confidence for that yet lol (although would love too) ds starts year 1 and dd starts nursery too in september. Would love a break in this country though. I'm going to look at butlins and centre parcs websites in a bit!

Janna · 20/04/2005 10:18

ooh ta for the tip about ginger bread.. i'm off to register I think!

TheVillageIdiot · 20/04/2005 10:26

Janna yes join Gingerbread.

I'm up for Butlins or CentreParcs as well as abroad (I think!)

Pagan · 20/04/2005 10:31

Sardinia I found totally wonderful because of lack of Brits. My Italian isn't great but still got by. Ryanair fly from Stansted direct to Alghero. You could stay there as it's only 5 miles from the airport else we stayed here
in a tent but thet did have chalets for hire which would be better with kids

honeypot01 · 20/04/2005 10:45

let us know what you find for Butlins and Centerparcs Janna

Lulu41 · 29/04/2005 13:21

Can recommend Hotel Flamingo in Sardinia been a couple of times and its quite remote but its ideal I would take my 2 on my own - not cheap but its lovely.

bubblerock · 30/04/2005 23:08

Just noticed this thread - have you looked at jamesvillaholidays ? I haven't used them myself but they seem quite reasonable especially the offers - eg a costing for a 5 bedroomed/3 bathroom private villa with pool in Fuerturventura in June including flights is just over £2000 based on 4 adults & 4 kids
Just thought you might be interested as it would give you all more privacy too. We've been on 1 villa holiday with DS to portinax and it was fantastic having your own pool and kitchen (no paying pool bar prices!) also we did our washing in the machine and hung it out to dry (in about 5 mins) - No mounds of dirty clothes to take home! Sorry to waffle - I want a holiday!!!! Any excuse to look at travel sites Have fun wherever you end up!

Hevva · 16/06/2005 23:18

Take a look at the website for the Single Parent Travel Club at www.sptc.org.uk. It's a club run by single parents for single parent families, and there are day trips, weekends and holidays, from camping in the UK to luxury villas overseas. Costs just £7.50 per year. It's great to go on holidays or days out with others in the same situation, and while the kids play, you have someone to chat to instaed of sitting bored out of your mind with a book!
Cheers,
Hevva

TRy Small Families www.smallfamilies.co.uk/. I've been on 5 holidays with them. Not only will your child have a great time but more importantly you will really get a holiday
