On a friday evening, preferably a class or something, although that might be hard with it being summer hols I suppose.

I have given up trying to make arrangements with friends, they always pretend they are busy and then go out themselves anyway.

I thought of swimming but my local pool is still shut and the next nearest one is in an area i'd rather not travel to on my own, on public transport after dark.

I live in Sutton Coldfield, but don't drive (yet) so it needs to be something fairly local.

I have googled but drawn a blank so far.

Right, I have to bugger off and tidy up and make myself look slightly less trampy .

council gym isn't too expensive (once a week) and will be empty on a friday night for sure!

allgonebellyup · 02/08/2008 15:36

Is going clubbing soooooooo bad???

IllegallyBrunette · 02/08/2008 15:53

Well I don't really like clubs tbh. I don't like dancing so I always feel really daft in a club.

I will think about it though because I suppose I could go home after the meal if I didn't want to go to the club.

My local sports centre has swiimimg on a friday night. The gym is also open too. There may even be some aerobic or kick-boxing classes too.

Could you organise a blind date from a dating website?

IllegallyBrunette · 02/08/2008 16:00

Ok bellyup, just for you, have added myself to the meetup. Need a petrified emoticon now LOL.

Amazinwoman, a date wouold be fab, but I have had zero luck on dating sites so have taken my profile off.

Can't go swimming until local poll opens again in Dec, but I think their gym is still open so I will ring up and see whats what.

Jewellery making? I would like to do that course. Sorry if that's been suggested. You could save money by giving cheap homemade gifts to friends.

Yay! to you going to the meet-up !!!
Cool!

Sutton coldfield has a cinema according to google. You can creep in late on your own like I used to before I had ds and my ex woudln't go with me.

There's a bridge club on friday's but afternoon. I'm guessing that's too early for you?

Not sure what things you are into. Have you considered joing something like round table/lion's club or similar. they have lots of social stuff I believe.

There must be some kind of keep fit, aerobics (aqua or otherwise), or even just going swimming.

Are you on a very tight budget? Could you do something like archery or something like that?

If nothing else appeals does your local library stay open late on a friday? Would get you out the house and you could mn while you were there too! Might be able to find out about book clubs, poetry reading or some such at the library too.

Or what about speed dating or something like that? Just to get you out the house, nothing serious!
