On a friday evening, preferably a class or something, although that might be hard with it being summer hols I suppose.

I have given up trying to make arrangements with friends, they always pretend they are busy and then go out themselves anyway.

I thought of swimming but my local pool is still shut and the next nearest one is in an area i'd rather not travel to on my own, on public transport after dark.

I live in Sutton Coldfield, but don't drive (yet) so it needs to be something fairly local.

I have googled but drawn a blank so far.

dancing classes???

Salsa or Ceroc (jive)??

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 19:57

I did think of dancing, and I will consider it but it will be a very very last resort as I hate dancing.

yoga, pilates?

CarGirl · 01/08/2008 19:59

The way the classes (well ceroc etc) are organised is fun, it is a social time as well as learning to dance.

Do you not have any singles social groups near you?

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 20:00

I am finding that hardley anything runs on a friday night tbh.

There may be singles nights but tbh I am not interested in that at the mo.

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 20:04

PortBlacksandResident · 01/08/2008 20:17

Skating Rink in Telford - is that too far?

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 20:21

Much too far unfortunatly.

My nearest is Solihull or Tamworth but of an evening even those are too far.

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 20:24

Have looked for

Dance class
Yoga

There must be something, i will have a look for you..

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 20:28

check whats on at the local library. they usually have little adverts for various things that are not necessarily advertiesed on the net.
sometimes doctors surgeries might know of stuff?
or your local church?
perhaps you could volunteer for something?
could you join your scouts or cubs group as a volunteer initially, and then perhaps train to become a leader? they do all sorts of exciting stuff.

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 20:34

Ideally want something that doesn't involve children Stitch as it is my only child free night.

I will look in the library tommorow though, good idea.

not quite what you were thinkin g of, but what about visit ing an elderly person? there is a charity local to me, that arran nges visit s by volunteers to do nothing but go and chat to elderly people who are housebound for various reasons. i met a lovely lovely lady a few years ago, but unfortunatley becasue of commitmenets with children, was unable to continue meeting her.

IllegallyBrunette · 01/08/2008 20:39

Without wanting to sound like a cow, that isn't really the type of thing I am looking for.
