Child maintenance

I just did the calculator simulation for the child maintenance and I'm shocked at how much I will get for 2 kids monthly from their dad based on his wages. It's like peanuts to me. How can it be so low?

I'm generally very much all about the not fretting over what can't be changed and on an individual level right now, no this can't be changed, but a system can change; women got the vote, abortion was legalised, same sex marriage is legal, maternity pay was introduced. At one point or another none of these were true and then they were. Do I do think it's worth getting angry about a broken system and talking to people and MPs and the press about it.

No i got over it a long time ago...

I focus on what i can control.

Definitely how I coped gave up years ago expecting my ex to provide. He throws me a few quid every now and then and expects me to be eternally grateful. In the mean time I just budget my income without any expectation of child maintenance.

Same here. I obviously needed the child maintenance but if I had kept fighting to get the fair amount he was supposed to pay, I would have drowned myself in anger and resentment.
