We can only do the best we can. No point in going on housework threads if you're a working LP who never has a break from the kids. Or if you're a SAHM LP with small kids who can't get to the gym.

So, a thread for us to start the New Year with good intentions and to juggle it around everything else we have to do Smile.

  • I banned Minecraft today and tomorrow after some shocking behaviour (kicking each other in the supermarket) the dc's had a burst of enthusiasm, dysoning and tidying up to get back in my good books.
  • I have managed to get out for a few runs over Xmas. We stayed with my mum for a couple of days so I went out then.

Here's to a positive start to 2015.

grr to the interview. happy birthday for yesterday.

I did nothing yesterday on the flat tidying front... though I did walk to town and back with the children so a bit of exercise was taken.

the children are back to school today, I have apparnetly done 2500 steps already but not sure how accurate this is. running the last few yards to school as we were late due to unexpected roadworks may have meant more steps were recorded than normal. it was a freebie pedometer so not that accurate. and it keeps falling off and ending up down my leg.

BlackeyedSantaStuckUpAChimney · 06/01/2015 14:32

day one of the thirty one day challenge

I did ten minutes..well 15. there is very little difference in the washing mountain... but every little helps as that well know supermarket likes to say.

I also sort of did day two as well, but this was mainly completed on the landing... excavating my tool box to extract the stanley knife so I could cut open my new drill bits.. (christmas present to self) so I will be able to drill several pieces of wood so I can mend the wardrobe rails that collapsed and put away more of the laundry which is currently piled on my bed and also access the under bed storage and finish putting laundry away. .. Oh yes.

minklundy · 06/01/2015 20:09

Back to work today. Not a day too soon.

RedBushedT · 06/01/2015 22:41

I did exercise lay night - hurrah!
But after the physio session tonight I lay on the sofa and ate Jaffa cakes and wagon wheels... Sad

It's my own fault for buying crap earlier.

BlackeyedSantaStuckUpAChimney · 06/01/2015 23:54

tut tut red bushed.

brushes chocolate cake crumbs from clothing

fancy eating chocolate treats... tsk.

RedBushedT · 07/01/2015 07:23

It won't happen again, Blackeyed. (crosses fingers behind back)
Determined to start again today, new day, new start and all that Smile

meglet · 07/01/2015 21:14

It turns out I can't manage my 15 min tidy up on the days I work Blush. The normal stuff is do-able, dishwasher, laundry, packing school bags, but I have no time or energy left for anything else.

I'll have a bit of time to catch up on friday.

In work for the first time today, why cant I resist the left over chocolate and biscuits, angry with myself for spoiling the healthy eating

sleepingdragon · 07/01/2015 22:52

Its nice reading how everyone is getting on. I have started with small steps- cleared through the bedroom and most of the lounge to get rid of tat and start babyproofing as DS is desperate to crawl and so I better be ready. I didn't have ice cream after dinner, and ive been eating healthy meals, but the rest of my healthy eating (ie no snacking) and exercise hasn't got off the ground yet. Planning to go for a long walk tomorrow but may not happen as DS is a bit coldy and I don't want him to get any worse.

BlackeyedSantaStuckUpAChimney · 07/01/2015 23:19

today went pear shaped... shopping, collecting a parcel for dd shopping for my christmas present... which I will need to mend the wardrobe. (black and decker workmate) not only did I not tidy I did not manage to get much other day to day stuff done. dc's fed and watered though and washing done

I did do a lot of walking though, not sure how much as the pedometer reset at some point.

minklundy · 08/01/2015 21:00

I erm reorganised my exercise videos today Blush

meglet · 08/01/2015 22:19

mink any organising is a step forward. Give yourself a pat on the back Smile.

I cleared a bag of old electricals and popped them in the recycling skip.

minkGrundy · 09/01/2015 21:02

2 trips to the dump and the old carpet is gone
Got rid pf some more books too.
Still getting nowhere with the exercise though.

Will sort some cds if the kids ever go away to bed.

RedBushedT · 09/01/2015 23:58

Well done Mink!

BlackeyedSantaStuckUpAChimney · 10/01/2015 11:20

so who's in for a tidying session today?

I am going to go round and find the worst bits in every room and get on with that. one thing that needs doing is cutting up and disposing of the cot mattress, which was going to be kept to jump on on the floor, but got weed on by ds so is going.

I hope to do:
clean sink and wash up (nicked from fly lady)
pick up the post in the hall and deal with some of it.
sweep hall floor, possibly.
fold laundry and put away (minimum ten mins)
put together work mate(one more step to mending wardrobe)
do a couple of loads of washing and hang up
put away the christmas stockings and dolls house.
tidy a three foot by two foot area of the living room that has the toy kitchen and it's stuff and the toy vehicles from the windowsil, and dolls stuff and various other stuff heaped up there.

meglet · 10/01/2015 17:01

black I've been having a bit of a tidy today. The dc's seem to be undoing everything though Angry .

I've braved the black hole of calcutta and tidied under DD's bed. It was mainly lego, hairbands and fluff.

almost cleared one large shopping bag of clutter.

I actually managed to gain 1.5 lbs in my first week Blush So I actually joined SW again on Friday. Diet has been much better for the last 2 days.
I also thursday managed to put other curtain up to the one I started in Sunday.

Progress is been made..Not much today as have been ferrying DS round to various places then watched a DVD with him and fell asleep Blush. I am not working Monday so should get more done Monday...

Starlightbright1 · 10/01/2015 19:52

Oh I also tidied DS bedroom and had to recycle some of his books as if he had seen them they would of ended back in his room but never looked at them again

minkGrundy · 10/01/2015 20:03

I have been swimming mostly in the sauna and done one load of washing. So bag of cds to sort and another loaf of washing to put on. And i might do some strength training.
really need to sort my room out but cannot be bothered.

meglet · 10/01/2015 20:05

books are hard to shift starlight. either I'm too sentimental or the dc's are.

I've just binned some sticks and conkers from ds's room.

meglet · 10/01/2015 20:41

minkGrundy · 10/01/2015 20:44

starlight mine sneaked a pile of old folders and drawings out of the recycling last week. Honestly if we kept all the 'art work'from school and nursery we'd be wading knee deep by now.
