ex has seen dd -3 every week for the last year i have always let the contact fit in with his shifts, but now he tells me he wants to get a contact order,
I cant see why when we have had no problems with contact, would this grant him any other rights?

thankyou

Dh got pr for his dd sanchpanch. In practice it has meant very little. He isn't involved with day to day decisions that his x makes, but should be involved in things like choosing schools and what religion dsd follows. It's been helpful because he has been able to contact dsd's school and he gets invited to parents' evenings and sports days - unlike you, his x told him dsd was nothing to do with him when she was with her and thought he was sticking his nose in wanting to attend such things! It also means that if dsd is with us and needs medical attention dh can sign for it, instead of having to wait for her mum to drive for an hour and half.

When I read your OP my first thought was that you refusing to give him pr has made him uneasy, and that combined to talking to friends with horror stories of contact being stopped, it's freaked him out and he's worried that you'll be stopping contact next.

Hope you can sort this out and things settle down again.
