My daughter asked me today if the childminder is allowed in my room. I said why was she in there? My daughter said she was getting something, which is fine except she said that the childminder said it was 'disgusting!' This is pretty weird isn't it?!?

The poshest people I know (titled) were quite happy to show us their bedroom in their new house with an unmade bed, rumpled sheets, odd bits of laundry about etc...

Don't worry about it, but maybe set some clearer ground rules for your next nanny.

My room is similar to yours as I'm doing a course, so coffee mug and papers on the desk is the norm. It's also where I dump the clean laundry before sorting it. If busy then I'll tidy the rest of the house, but mine will be the bed that doesn't get made before I go out that day iywkim.

She's paid to look after your child, not denigrate you. I wouldn't employ her again. No different to not hiring someone who is rude and ignorant in any other job, except that a kid this age is just so vulnerable.

I think all adults around children should role model politeness and respect. It's very emotionally damaging to children to be hearing the adults caring for them saying nasty things about each other.
