And it was easy Smile

It's a family toilet seat with a built in toddler seat. I am very pleased with it and myself for doing it.

Tell me about the things you have done you would never have done if your ex was still on the scene. (Because these threads inspire me Smile)

Well done OP Smile. You have reminded me that I have to replace ours. It's very satisfying, isn't it, doing practical things.

LineRunner · 29/06/2013 12:16

Herrena Plastic. And broken. And fastened tight.

I can't work out which way I should be turning it. As I am standing facing the toilet, it's the one down to my left.

So if I were sitting on the loo, it would be the one down to my right.

On the plus side, I just moved a tonne of crap out of the way and ripped up the hall carpet and cut and bagged it up outside, all by myself, in advance of the new hall flooring (post burst pipe). Smile

HerrenaHarridan · 29/06/2013 13:14

Most likely anti clockwise.

Left loosey, righty tighty!

Well done one the hall carpet'

Thank you! Smile

I also touched up the hall ceiling recently after a leak from the bathroom. Cost about £9 for the paint and bits, and looks ok.

Nagoo · 29/06/2013 15:52

I had to DRILL my old toilet seat off.

I build a king size bed, with the assistance of a 2YO.

I wallpapered the front room.

I fixed the shelf bracket.

I put the bottom back in the DC's drawer and replaced all the runners.

I put the beading down for the floor.

I love doing manjobs they are so much more satisfying than the usual drudgy shite.

Nagoo · 29/06/2013 15:53

sillymilly that is an awesome effort Thanks

LineRunner · 29/06/2013 16:08

Nagoo I think my toilet seat and I are heading that way.....

starsandunicorns · 29/06/2013 16:13

When I was a single mum I built

A trampline
A flat pack wardorb ( actually phoned my dad at work for that as soo proud)
Flat pack bunk beds
Flat pack double bed
Tv stand and book case
Flat pack dinng table and chairs

Mended the hoover

Pulled out washing manchine and replaced belt 2 times

LineRunner · 29/06/2013 16:15

Thinking about it, my DD and I built her double bed (from flat pack).

MissMilliment · 29/06/2013 16:41

I love a good flatpack. I have also replaced a toilet seat recently and am contemplating the more complicated one in the other loo. I think I'm most proud of re-roofing the shed and rebuilding the rockery this year.

I've always enjoyed DIY but now it's just me and the kids there's definitely an added sense of satisfaction in sorting stuff out for yourself.

LineRunner · 29/06/2013 18:07

Well I had a plumber in anyway and he wrenched it off.

And tbf he is also a rugby player.

I am normally pretty good at DIY but some things.....

ImNotBloody14 · 29/06/2013 18:23

I was going to do my loo seat this weekend but have been v busy so maybe tomorrow evening.

Other things ive done; moved house by myself in a 3 door saxo with a 4 month old- plumbed in all my washing machines- changed the element on my tumble drier- put together countless flat packs- bollocked the cowboy electricians who thought they were pulling the wool over my eyesGrin

LineRunner · 29/06/2013 18:26

What colour loo seat are you having, ImNotBloody14?

I was thinking about purple.

I've had 'wood' for 16 long bloody years.

LineRunner · 30/06/2013 13:09

I cracked and bought another 'wood' one.

Hopefully I will fit it this afternoon.

ImNotBloody14 · 30/06/2013 20:18

I currently have bright green bogey coloured one and am putting on a white wooden one.

Still getting round to putting it on Grin

ImNotBloody14 · 30/06/2013 20:19

I didnt put the bogey one on- it came with the house

LineRunner · 30/06/2013 20:21

I think fleas came with my house....

Anyway, one lovely oak bog seat fitted.

NightLark · 30/06/2013 20:24

Fixed my friends plumbing leak, and plumbed in a new kitchen sink for her

LineRunner · 30/06/2013 20:34

That's pretty impressive.

ImNotBloody14 · 30/06/2013 20:37

Grin Fleas!

Well done nightlark. I need to get my head round the workings of my cistern. There is a drip i need to fix.

LinghamStyle · 30/06/2013 20:42

I'm painting the whole house, so far I've done the DDs bedrooms, top landing and stairs (that was hard as I couldn't reach properly!) dining room and kitchen. Fitted new blinds, re-grouted the wall and floor tiles and built flat pack bedroom furniture. I'm exhausted Grin

I want to give tiling a go. My bathroom is tiny but my dad is a tiler and would be forever picking holes in what i did and asking me why i didnt just get him to do it. And he wont teach me how to do it right- he has no patience ti teach.

queenjellybelly · 30/06/2013 21:46

I decided we needed new loo seats on both loos, chose them, went and bought them (with 2 littlies in tow) and fitted them....myself! Told the dh I'd bought new seats & he chunters 'right then, lets look at sorting these seats out'. The look on his face when I said 'done it'. Priceless. I felt so smug! Might redecorate the bedroom next!
