How do you get to meet other single mums?

Hi Everyone,

My husband leaving soon and the thought of being bored/lonely really scares me. Most of my friends happily married. I need to meet other mums like me, who are up to having a good laugh, meeting for a glass of wine, dinner, chat, heart to hearts, etc.

other mums who will not stay at home feeling sorry for themselves, who will put up a brave front and who will show their ex's that their lives are going somewhere.

Anyone knows whether there is a website which puts single mummies in contact?

I'd really appreciate your advice?

thank you so much!!!:)

Beautiful, that was soooooo funny!

I just pictured a bunch of us on the evening of the 14th, outside Buona Sera in Northcote Rd, screeching like witches at the lovely couples dining by candlelight. Grin Ha ha haaaaa. So funny!

Well, what a pleasant surprise, you all sound so lovely and fun!!!!

I look forward to a meet- up!

Hi, me again!

how do you delete a post? I posted the same one twice. Just out of curiosity....

Right, email has been sent to everyone - check your junk folders if you don't see anything in your inbox!

fizzy, you have to ask MN to delete, you just report your own post (see the blue line where your name is) - but I wouldn't bother for a mistaken double post.

Imagining single moms and open bottles of wine drinking merrily and children play together...pipe dream? I live in west london (central really)..xxx

changeforthebetter · 09/02/2011 14:04

Aww Envy I used to live in Clapham a long time ago in my single days. I love the idea of you all piling into a restaurant. Perhaps you could hand out printouts of some of the choicest threads on here Grin

ValiumSandwichTime · 09/02/2011 18:51

I WISH I could come. I'm in Dublin but I would really like more single mum friends. I don't meet them. The one I do meet up with occassionally I pulled her another site! It was great meeting up with her though, a real breath of fresh air after the women up at the school gates who stand around talking about their husband and how he likes warm milk on his weetabix and he's not good with a power drill blah blah blah. HOW to you break in to those conversations!?

BringOnTheGoat · 09/02/2011 20:09

Hi - did someone metion single mum thing in brighton?!?! Smile

stardust86 · 10/02/2011 12:34

Hiya,
Have you looked at www.singlewithkids.co.uk? I found it a couple of years ago when I spotted it advertised on here somewhere. I've made a number of good friends on there. They organise holidays and lots of camping trips but have loads of day trips and things going on too.

I'm hoping to meet up wiht a group of single parents soon in the Midlands if anyone fancies joining us?

Nevereatyellowsnow · 10/02/2011 12:52

Bringonthegoat are you in Brighton?! The meet up was a few weeks ago and the next ones in May but I'm always up for meeting up, I think my ds and your dd are roughly the same age Smile

BringOnTheGoat · 10/02/2011 13:21

Oh lovely! I am in Lancing but would be great to meet up Smile

HystericalMe · 11/02/2011 22:31

Hey! I am in central London and I'm up for a meet up.

Mumfun · 14/02/2011 12:59

Hi In Wimbledon too. There is a single parents group just west of here. Can give details if you message me.

lottysmum · 14/02/2011 14:48

Hello I've just set up a new website for single parents - please send me a message if you would like the link - it will be live within 48 hours - just finishing bits and bobs.

AllDirections · 14/02/2011 20:25

Stardust86, I just had a look at www.singlewithkids.co.uk
I'm in the North East but it looks like there are local meet ups here too. Not sure I'm brave enough to go along.

They also do single parent holidays. I could do with a holiday! One step at a time though....

stardust86 · 21/02/2011 18:38

Hey AllDirections, that's great! Let me know if you fancy going on any of the holidays, we could meet? I started with camping, they've got some great weekends up there for this year but I haven't decided which ones to go on yet.

mmsmum · 21/02/2011 19:06

No, clearly I stay at home feeling sorry for myself. Thanks for that confidence boost Hmm

stardust86 · 21/02/2011 19:15

????

What's wrong with meeting other single parents?

mmsmum · 21/02/2011 19:30

stardust do you mean? Nothing! The op asked if we knew any websites, I said no. I am all for having chats, meals and meeting up for glasses of wine but I can't because I have no one to look after dd, but that doesn't mean I "stay at home feeling sorry for myself" and I don't think anyone should make that assumption about me or other Mums who don't go out. It's not because I'm sad, strange or anything else, I'm just someone who is a single mum with absolutely no help whatsoever.

mmsmum · 21/02/2011 19:31

Sorry I really need to learn to preview! I meant to type do you mean me?
