Night out in Tunbridge Wells

Shivs1974 · 17/12/2008 13:41

I posted this on the Meet-ups topic a while ago and there has been a bit of interest from Bulhar, Ingles2, KittyTN, Blondshavemorefun & All4theKids.

So was wondering if there were any other MNers in the Tunbridge Wells area who would like to meet up one evening for drinks/meal etc?? Thinking Jan time.....what do you think?

The Fridays would be best for me.....and theoretically I could do the Wed (but we host French students and so I wouldn't be able to if we were hosting that week - unless dh was happy to entertain them on his own)

Hi, I would love to meet some new mums in t.wells. I've only just become a 'mumsnetter', I'm I to late to join your night out?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2009 18:42

another blondie

w are still dithering on date, but you are very welcome to come along

so what date are we doing?

SouthernMeerkat · 26/01/2009 19:44

Shall I make a decision, and plump for a date. how about we go for Friday 13th Feb? At Lava, at say 8pm?

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2009 10:19

fine by me

though still not 100% where lava is?

Shivs1974 · 27/01/2009 10:52

Lava is on St John's Rd just as you get into T/Wells from Southborough - it's the bar that's just next door to the little Sainsburys. Does that help? There's a car park opposite (off John Street). Probably best to do a reccae in the daylight...I sound just like my Mother

The date works for me - well done for making that decision, SouthernMeerkat

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2009 18:38

will reccae this weekend

SouthernMeerkat · 27/01/2009 19:10

Great - glad we have a plan. I hope Lava's ok - I only picked it because it was the first suggestion that someone made (and has nothing whatsoever to do with it being about 5 mins walk from my house ).

Blondeshavemorefun - as Shivs says, it's on St John's Road, between little Sainbury's and Bean, just by Skinners.

Looking forward to meeting you on the 13th.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/01/2009 13:15

and how do we know who we all are?

SouthernMeerkat · 28/01/2009 19:06

I was wondering that too!! I have met KittyTN before but she hasn't said whether or not she's coming....I could see whether I can book a MN table which would make it easy, but I'm not sure that they will take a table booking if we're not eating.. Shall I investigate anyway?!

Shivs1974 · 28/01/2009 20:40

Yeah - go on..............

OP posts:
MK75 · 28/01/2009 21:51

I'll be there! Ooh am quite excited now!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2009 09:41

are we not eating?

thught we were meeting for a meal/drinks?

SouthernMeerkat · 29/01/2009 10:13

Oh, well that makes it easy then - I thought it was just drinks. If we're eating then I shall book a table forthwith!

Shall I book for 8 people for 8pm? that allows for some add ins and some drop outs!

Shivs1974 · 29/01/2009 12:17

Yeah - sounds good to me...I'm happy to do whatever!

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2009 18:36

food would be nice

I am proxy parenting that wed night till friday 6pmish so wont have time to go home and eat

glad we changed date as im now PP fo my family (tomorrow was the original date)

hotCheeseBURNS · 29/01/2009 18:42

I would like to come, if that's okay. Need to check what dp's plans are though.

Do you lot know each other already? Can we do introductions on this thread to make it less scary?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2009 20:16

no one knows me in rl

but im often on MN

Shivs1974 · 29/01/2009 21:05

Don't think anyone knows me here in rl either.....so it'll be an adventure....not often on MN as much as others...work gets in the way!

HotCheeeseBurns - what would you like to know?

OP posts:
hotCheeseBURNS · 29/01/2009 21:27

Ah I don't know! Maybe how old you are, how many children, whether you work/SAHM... I sound really nosy and weird now right?

Well I'm 24 with a 3 year old ds and I work full time as a mechanical engineer. And I'm actually quite normal

Shivs1974 · 29/01/2009 22:24

Okay - I have 2 dds (3.5 and 2). Live in T/Wells and work 4 days a week as a project manager. Oh and I'm 34 - now I feel old!!

OP posts:
hotCheeseBURNS · 30/01/2009 18:14

The age thing is what I'm most nervous about!

One of the reasons I haven't made many mum-friends is that most of the mums at nursery, playgroup, mother and toddler group, ante natal classes etc. were quite a lot older and didn't talk to me and I was too shy to talk to them! Also I look even younger than I am which doesn't help!

On the other hand, my dp and most of our friends are in their late 20s and I have always had lots of friends who were older than me and I'm not a single mum or a student any more so I have more in common with all those older mums now.

I know it shouldn't be a big deal but for some reason I've always been strangely obsessed with age. I think partly due to being a late developer/always looking young and always wanting to be older.

[/life story]

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2009 18:15

im not a mummy (yet) but always hope

im a nanny ( fantastic one of course), live in tonbridgr and 35 (and a bit)

SouthernMeerkat · 30/01/2009 19:44

Have been rubbish and didn't get round to phoning Lava, but I will I promise! I have only met KittyTN, so don't know anyone else yet either.

I'm 35 (eek!), live in T Wells, and have three children - boy, girl, boy, and until April can say that I have 3 under 5.

I work 3 days a week in London and am a bit of a MN newbie really.

Will be great to meet you all in a couple of weeks time!

KittyTN · 01/02/2009 21:18

Hi everyone
Hope to make it on 13/2 but may have to work late. I'm 32, boy age 14 months. just back to work 3 days. Great idea to book table, didn't fancy carrying a bunch of daffs/ wearing a feather boa or whatever!
