Hi everyone

Have just found out Im pregnant (nearly 7 weeks) and midwife has given me loads of information about hospitals in time for my booking appointment next week.

One thing I cant decide is which hospital would be best (I live in chapel allerton so distance is about the same)

Do any of you ladies have any good / bad experiences or can you share with me how you made your decision.

ta very much

Jimmy's Jimmy's Jimmy's!
LGI is the old workhouse - falling apart, I've never liked it anytime I've gone in!

Aarrgghh · 10/10/2008 22:00

LGI All the way here!

NotAnOtter · 10/10/2008 22:01

lgi

i have had four babies there

(did move to hattogate for lat one though!)

NotAnOtter · 10/10/2008 22:01

i heart heart heart my consultant at l g i

Aarrgghh · 10/10/2008 22:02

I know what you mean about it seeming older but i think the care is better. I know there is good and bad in all but i hear more poistive stories about LGI from people I know.

Parking is better at Jimmy's for your visitors tho

No advice as my only experience is an elCS at jimmys, but the op and the postnatal care were fab; couldn't fault them.

am due to have DC3 in a few weeks time and am in the process of changing from jimmy's to LGI as they are more supportive of my birth choices....and they have pools if you want a water birth.

The information I have (from someone in the know) is that Jimmy's are much more interventionist than LGI.

I'm close to Chapel Allerton as well Myneaux; there are lots of good local groups and stuff and the NCT postnatal group which meets at the children's centre just off the bottom of Potternewton Lane on a tuesday morning is very friendly

Mine was Prof Simpson - I loved him and he is on my DVD!

NotAnOtter · 10/10/2008 22:03

we got a bloody ticket when i was in labour at L G I!

Aarrgghh · 10/10/2008 22:04

I was told Jimmy's can't support water births

NotAnOtter · 10/10/2008 22:06

Gerald Mason my hero!

LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 22:06

was that to me Aaaargh? I mean that LGI have pools, not Jimmy's.

Aarrgghh · 10/10/2008 22:08

Sorry it was just to anyone I was just trying to add as much info on as possible if she was looking for a water birth!

Aarrgghh · 10/10/2008 22:15

I am laughing at that YG - my first introduction was when he came in and made all of us turn our tv's off and the lights and insisted we rested the hour before visiting time. At first i was a little shocked but her was so right...lol

LackaDAISYcal · 10/10/2008 22:18

a friend of mine had her first at LGI and didn;t like it as she and her DH were left alone to get on with it for large chunks of time. Seeking an intervention free birth as I am, all I can say to that one is "and the problem is......?"

hugh sounds nice....is he still there?

he better not try the boob stuffing in the mouth thing with me

havingaparty · 11/10/2008 06:13

I have had both my sons in Jimmys and had a positive experience eah time.
Ds2 was thought to have a heart problem and they were very supportive and helpful.

Can't comment on Jimmy's, but must admit I didn't really rate the care I got from the midwives at LGI for DS2. Mind you I had only been living in Leeds for 4 days when I went into labour early, so I wasn't exactly well prepared. Wish DH had felt more able to stand up to the Nasty One...

I hear good things about Harrogate though.

spiker · 13/10/2008 22:49

I think there's a midwife led unit Wakefield, is that too far away?? Might be a different PCT actually.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/10/2008 22:52

I talked to the CMW team today amd they have filled in the paperwork, but have grumbled about leaving it a bit too late (am 37 weeks on Thursday).

My doula reassures me that it'll be fine though, although I'm now having visions of turning up there and being turned away and then Jimmy's not wanting to have anything to do with me since I dumped them and having to give birth in Millenium Square

saffron71 · 15/10/2008 20:45

Ooh Daisy -keeping my fingers crossed for you. Must say that LGI were fab for very rushed birth of DD2.

gracegtz · 16/10/2008 21:06

hi, I work in LGI so i booked myself in LGI too, though some friends say paking would be a problem
