Hello all

I'm 27 and new to mums net as well as being a new mum (as of 18 December). I live on Green Lanes in Harringay. Today is my first day at home alone with the baby since my husband has gone back to work after his paternity leave. The flat seems very quiet the the day is going pretty slowly.

Does anyone else live in Harringay? Would anyone else in Haringey like to arrange a meet up in the next week or two? The sooner I get out and about the better I think.

Hi there SebbysMum

Welcome to Mumsnet! I live just round the corner by Haringay station and also on my first day at home with new baby born in December. It's daunting isn't it?

There's a few of us about that I know from MN but also from my local ante-natal yoga class. It would be great to get together. Anyone else interested?

ps. Great to see a fellow John Irving fan!

SebbysMum · 04/01/2008 10:43

Hello Wobbegong. It's great you live so close. I can just see Haringay station from my flat. I see our babies are just 2 days apart in age. Our jobs, pre-baby, might be similar too - I work(ed) in health policy.

I've also met a handful of people through my antenatal class and antenatal yoga. Most are still waiting for their babies to arrive although strangely two of the three I know with babies had them in the same week as we had ours.

Would you like to have a coffee with me today or early next week? You are very welcome to visit me or I could come to you. I think Green Lanes probably lacks anywhere we could easily change nappies and breastfeed.

That sounds great. I could meet up on Monday, if that suits you. I've sent you my personal email address using the mumsnet "Contact Another Mumsnetter" (CAT) service, which hopefully you'll get soon!

BTW In case you're new to that service, there's more details at www.mumsnet.com/InTouch

Have a nice weekend!

live in palmers green but can come to mus hil/ crouch end area?

wobbegong · 08/01/2008 09:11

Hello ladies

That's great that there is a little group of us. Enjoy your maternity leave Finland and Mini08- I had my LO on the first day of my maternity leave! - wish I had had the opportunity to be bored!

What do you think if I get the ball rolling by suggesting that we meet on Monday 14th next week, maybe from 2pm in a cafe in Crouch End. The Natural Cafe springs to mind as it has room for buggies etc. and changing facilities. Do you know it? It is in the centre of Crouch End nearly next door to Tesco and Budgens.

What do you all think? As it is next week it might be that more could join us as they spot this thread? Also there are some other non MN-ers who might want to join us, if we invite them.

ps. Finland I'm also a graduate of the Middle Lane yoga classes!I wonder who you are really?

mehdismummy · 08/01/2008 09:26

hi guys everyone seems to have newborns are you ok with me bringing my little monster!

Harri1 · 08/01/2008 10:07

Sounds good wobbegong, hope there is lots of room for buggies see you there

Mini08 · 08/01/2008 10:54

great to get so many responses... makes me feel a lot better!!! fingers crossed I won't have gone into labour by then due 17th..

but yes up for monday and know where it is. however if anyone fancy a coffee earlier I can do that too. sound quite desperate!! but that's what the waiting game is doing to me..

finland, no never got to the yoga class - work unfortunatly took priority wish i would have gone...

wobbegong · 08/01/2008 10:59

Monsters welcome mehdismummy though I think we will mostly be brand new mums or mums-to-be. Hope all the talk of epidurals, meconium, bf latches etc. not too boring for you! But we certainly wouldn't want to leave anyone out.

Would be great to hear from kelmcmistletoe when/ if the group that met up before Xmas in the Maynard will meet up again, as I think that involved older babies and toddlers soon? (Am I right? I only followed the thread but didn't go).

Good to hear from you harri1 and look forward to meeting you

Sebbysmum as the original poster I hope Monday is OK for you?

kelmcd · 08/01/2008 12:38

Hiya
We are planning another meetup soon i think! Will try and make it on Monday. The babies from the meetup before xmas ranged from 6 weeks to 7mths i think. The maynard was good as a place to meet, loads of buggy space, we fitted 5 mums, bubs and buggies quite easily and the rest of the place was quiet
Mini08 - if you ever are in wood green, let me know and we can have coffee, my ds is 4 months.

mehdismummy · 08/01/2008 13:20

just because he is two trust me i have not forgotten! I am also bf counsellor so if any one need advice or i have loads of newborn stuff so anyone can help themselves

finland · 08/01/2008 14:32

Dont think I can make Monday but Mini 08 and other mums in waiting if you are free later next week as well it would be great to meet up.

SebbysMum · 08/01/2008 17:33

I can make Monday - I'm looking forward to it!

rh1ann0n · 08/01/2008 21:32

HI there
I live on Albany Road in Stroud Green and would love to make friends with local mums. We weren;t able to join NCT as they were all fully booked so i would love to meet people in the area!

I can meet up in any cafe in the area, say Crouch End/ Stroud Green or perhaps the cafe in Finsbury Park?

I have a baby called Eavie who is 7 weeks old and my husband goes back to work on the 14th. V worried about lonliness etc!

Not too sure how these message boards work?!!

Rhi x

rh1ann0n · 08/01/2008 21:41
