Keen to meet other local mums ASAP

Hello all

I'm 27 and new to mums net as well as being a new mum (as of 18 December). I live on Green Lanes in Harringay. Today is my first day at home alone with the baby since my husband has gone back to work after his paternity leave. The flat seems very quiet the the day is going pretty slowly.

Does anyone else live in Harringay? Would anyone else in Haringey like to arrange a meet up in the next week or two? The sooner I get out and about the better I think.

so exited about monday.... and mehdismummy - the more the merrier!!

finland - can maybe do end of week but need to keep things fairly open. lets talk closer to time.

Monday at 2 pm? sebbysmum, I'm sorry I've only just seen this as 3 January was my dp's first day back at work after holidays - actually we saw my mum and aunt but I would have been up for something any time from Friday 4 Jan on.

I started the Haringey meet up thread and saw Kel and Lucy10 and their babies and 2 other mums and babies in Crouch End in November, and would love to arrange another meet up some time soon.

I usually go to the Jolly Babies group at Burghley Road on Mondays but will try and make it to the Natural Cafe this week instead.

My son was born in May and I just have 7 weeks left on maternity leave, and I spent months trying to make sure I had things to get out and about to. I've realised that for most of the next few weeks I've completely succeeded, and may even feel spoiled for choice.

Monday pm - Jolly Babies
Tuesday pm - we will be going to Baby and Me which used to be Friday pm at Downhills Park School on West Green Road/Philip Lane. Lots of people come from Green Lanes and other areas of Haringey though.
Wednesday am - Splash is a free swimming thing for babies and their carers at Tottenham Green
Thursday - I think I'll go to the drop in baby group at Broadwater Farm in the afternoon. Most weeks there's also Musical Tots in Noel Park (just east of Wood Green) at midday for 0-1, also a 1-2 group, but it's not on this week. There's quite a social breastfeeding support group at Woodlands Park School which is very near Green Lanes on Thursday mornings, I liked the group a lot but found it too late .
Friday am - there's a singing class at Woodlands Park - I went to one with the same teacher at Broadwater Farm in December - it's aimed at mums as much as babies. I might go again but may not as I'm taking D to swimming lessons in Stoke Newington.

I go back to work in March but would still like to meet other mums/babies/toddlers in the area - I'm probably quite near you sebbysmum, about 15 minutes walk east from Green Lanes, 25/30 mins from Harringay station. If I don't come on Monday, by all means email me - we can walk to a baby group together or we can just meet for coffee on Green Lanes - the breastfeeding group introduced me to Cafe Lemon.

my email is (my mumsnet username) @ yahoo dot co dot uk

Sorry I didn't make it, how did it go?

rh1ann0n · 15/01/2008 11:34

hi medismummy
I go to finsbury park for walks as often as I can. today the weather is fairly foul so I don;t think i will make it. It would be great to meet up in the cafe sometime.
I am really keen to meet mums especially any with babies at the same stage. Mine is two months.
How old is yours?
Rhiannon x

kelmcd · 15/01/2008 11:59

rh1- hiya, did you manage to go yesterday??
there are a few of us with young babies. my Ds is 4mths and am always keen to go out, sept in weather like this. There are few other mums with bubs aswell. We are arranging lunch in crouch end at the end of the month (look on other thread) but if you wanna meet up sooner i am sure a couple of us could meet up for coffee or something

Harri1 · 15/01/2008 15:41

Good to meet you yesterday at the natural cafe, look forward to the next meet up

Lucy10 · 15/01/2008 17:56

Sorry, didn't make it yesterday, Unexpected quality time with DP as he'd been away for a week. Definitely planning on making the meet up at the end of the month but would love to meet up with others before then.

Hi Kel!

SebbysMum · 16/01/2008 13:28

elkiedee - thanks so much for all the baby tips. What time is Jolly Babies? I may well go on Monday. Can you give me any more info on the Baby and Me group you mentioned. I googled it but can't find anything.

Perhaps we'll meet on Monday at Jolly Babies?

Oh, I've just seen Jolly Babies is 1-4pm. I should be there on Monday. Info on the baby and me group still appreciated.

Jolly Babies is between 1 and 4 pm at the Burghley Road Under 5s Centre. One end of Burghley Road is off Turnpike Lane (the street) and the other end is opposite Sainsburys on Wood Green High Road. It's about 5 mins walk from Turnpike Lane tube - I assume you'll walk or get the bus from where you are. It's a drop in centre and a number of us who use the centre have a rota to open and lock up the building. Whatever time during its opening hours suits you should be fine.

Baby and Me is a more organised group - it's still drop in based and we spend a lot of time just playing with our babies and chatting, but there are two workers who work with the group. It starts at 1 pm on Tuesday afternoon until 3 at Downhills Park School, where West Green Road meets Philip Lane. It's probably about 20 minutes walk from you depending where you are, and the 341 bus runs from Green Lanes stops very close by. It used to be on Friday and this week was the first time it's been on Tuesday instead.

Let me know if you're going to make it to JBs and I'll look out for you.

elkiedee · 16/01/2008 14:21

Oh, and I should say Baby and Me has a limit of 15 families and has been known to get full because the room isn't that big, so it's a good idea to get there reasonably promptly just to be sure. It should be ok now because lots of babies and mums who used to come have moved away, become a year old and graduated to the Toddles group or returned to work/started childcare.

Harri1 · 25/01/2008 10:34

Hi Sebbysmum and Wobbegong it was great to meet you all 2 weeks ago and I was looking forward to catching up again on Monday but we have visitors coming so we won't make it sorry hope you have a good meet up and we'll see you in a couple of weeks hopefully.
Is any other day good for anyone?

Mini08- hope all is well x

elkiedee · 26/01/2008 01:55

Harri1, are you free on Wednesday 30 January or are your visitors still here? We're planning to meet in the Maynard in Crouch End around lunchtime that day.

Hope to see some of you tomorrow. And if any more mumsnetters would care to join us, please do.

Posting partly to try and bump the thread up a bit.

Harri1 · 17/02/2008 13:05

wobbegong · 17/02/2008 20:10

Congrats to mini08

Hi Harri1, I think the Monday meetups for mums of new babies kind of petered out. I was wondering about Monday 3 March PM maybe for the next one, how does that suit people?

Harri1 · 18/02/2008 09:21

Hi Wobbegong sound ok at the moment would be good to catch up again, Natural cafe again?
I'll let Mini08 know on the other thread

elkiedee · 18/02/2008 10:46

Congratulations to mini08.

3 March is my first day back at work and I'm taking D to Jolly Babies for our last two Monday afternoons before that happens. Anyone with a child under 2 is welcome to Jolly Babies, which is at the Burghley Road Under 5s Centre, near Turnpike Lane tube and the Wood Green shops - 41 or 144 bus or any that stop near the southern end of the shops. We open the centre at around 1 pm and close at 4 pm, 1 room is used for babies and the other is for those beginning to walk around/over a year old.

Mini08 · 18/02/2008 13:22
