Following on from the friend-making thread in chat, here is a thread for Surrey-dwellers to chat and perhaps arrange a meet-up :)

Amazingly there were only about 3 Surrey people on that thread Shock but all welcome :)

Ooh so if your DD is 4 is she starting school soon?? Ahhh wow!

Thanks Flowers yes it was amazing when she grew out of it (and so much cheaper too!)

Aw you poor thing Flowers I hope you get referred soon, that sounds painful! I know they've reduced the recommended time after c section to 12 months, so I think for most people that's probably a safe time (although some do it a lot sooner!) But then everyone is different, think my body would have fallen apart if I fell pregnant again that soon Grin

Dd1 was a terrible cat napper! I don't know whether it's more common in first borns. Dd2 had no choice but to get into routine as she was on the school run (well, nursery) from 6 weeks old, so she was quite good at going to sleep on time. Though even now at 2yo she often has to sleep on me and in our bed. I'm a soft touch Blush

Dd1 is going to be 5 on Tuesday so she's just finished reception and is going into year 1, she's one of the youngest in the year.

Ugh my niece has given me a cold, feel like I've swallowed some razor blades Sad

JHH15 · 12/08/2015 22:09

Oh no, get on the honey and lemon! Hope you could get an early night.

Yeah I suppose 2nd babies just need to fit in with whatever is already going on.

Aw happy birthday to DD1!

Just got to bed as lost track of time watching telly with dh. Hopefully the kids will sleep in a bit!

Aw thanks. Hope ds is sleeping like a baby (har har) for you tonight! Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully whatever was bugging him today will be gone Smile

mummyrunnerbean · 13/08/2015 09:25

Hello all! Apologies for disappearing - spent a delightful day with d and v yesterday Envy. Now going to spend an equally delightful day bleaching everything in the hopes DH and DS don't get it as well! Hope your throat is better today Jessica, and DS is more chilled Jh.

A baking party does sound epic. I'm about to make flapjacks and some slow cooker fudge (about my limit while DS is under foot) for a day my MIL has booked on a canal boat tomorrow. Supposedly as a treat for DH's birthday but both he and I are Confused about why she thought this was a good plan with a baby that just wants to be constantly on the move...

JHH15 · 13/08/2015 11:03

Oh poor you Bean!! What a nightmare. Was it a 24hr thing? Fingers crossed DH and DS avoid it, especially as it's DH's bday soon!! That would be sad.

You can do canal boat rides around here too. I'd be a nervous wreck with a toddler though haha! Yikes.

Slow cooker fudge sounds life-changing! Is it easy? Actually maybe I don't want to know, I have no self control Grin

How are you feeling today Jessica?

DS slept in his cot until his first feed last night, this is always the way it goes! He was asleep after his first feed but as soon as he hit the cot he was wide awake, rolling around and gurgling more and more angrily for about half an hour! As soon as I gave up and put him in our bed he was happy as Larry and we all slept well. To my mum's horror I'm happy to co-sleep but worried how we'll then get him out of our bed in the future!! And worried he'll never be able to fall asleep by himself. He already needs to feed to sleep. But I was a terrible sleeper and still am so I am stressing out as i don't want the same for him.

Also thinking maybe he'd be happier on formula as he's a frantic and stressy feeder! But he's on laxatives so don't want to just swap and maybe make things worse.

Oh I am doubting myself today!!!

There's a thunderstorm here at the moment!! And this is August...???

Yes we actually did our canal boat from.farncombe boat house as mil lives in Guildford! Was better than I anticipated but my goodness we were soaked. DS and my friend's baby who came too were in a state of wonder all day - and mercifully neither of them big enough to climb out yet! I think I couldn't face it once they were a bit more mobile though.

DS would never be put down either still won't be so we embraced cosleeping too. I wish I'd had the confidence to do it that early though - We got to four months of no more than an hour at a time and me nearly having a nervous breakdown before I went for it. We're now in a happy state of him spending the first half.of the night in his own bed and then coming in with us after a feed. Feel like we should stop soon as he's nearly 13 months but as this is working it's very hard to.summon up the willpower to try to force him to stay in his cot!

He was a stressy (and utterly constant) feeder too but had a hidden tongue tie. Once that was sorted everything improved. Guess you've had that checked though?

How are you getting settled.after your move anyway? Have you got lots to do in your new house or is it.pretty much all there? We moved in November and are still sorting everything out Blush.

JHH15 · 14/08/2015 22:55

Ooh cool! Yeah the weather was atrocious today (although I was in Ealing), glad you still enjoyed it :) but they looked so cute sailing along.

Yes DS had a tongue tie cut at 8 weeks, after me asking 3 different people to check for it, argh!! I first asked at 4 weeks and midwife said he was fine, ended up seeing a lactation consultant who said he only had a minor tie, then saw someone in hospital clinic here and turned out it was 90% tied and thick Hmm and even to me now, seeing how it's supposed to look, I can tell it was tied. I don't get why professionals can't tell. And I don't get why all babies aren't checked during their first physical exam, it takes like 2 secs and can cause so many big feeding problems! But is so easy to fix! Argh I am still mad about it, can you tell? Grin meant I had a poor supply as DS couldn't feed properly so now we're having to work on that. But things are a lot better now, it's amazing how much it improves once it's snipped isn't it!

And because he wasn't born in Surrey they wouldn't cut it on the NHS here so I had to pay. But that's ok!

Yes thankfully the house is in a good state and there's nothing that needs doing urgently - just unpacking still which I can see is going to take forever. November was... only a few months ago, don't worry about it hah! I feel like we'll be unpacking for a couple of years yet Grin

Do either of you have any weekend plans? We're meant to be having a BBQ, hopefully the weather will play ball :)

Hello ladies, I'm off to bed (another co sleeper here!) and have a really busy day tomorrow at my best friend's dd birthday party (she's 3 days older than Dd1 as we met at antenatal) - just wanted to wish you both a lovely weekend, I will be back tomorrow/Sunday as my cold has finally passed and Dd1 is off to PIL for a sleepover Grin Wine Cake

ToffeeCrisp40 · 17/08/2015 14:25

Can I come in too. I'm in Sutton/Cheam area

JHH15 · 17/08/2015 15:57

Course you can Toffee! I was in Sutton the other day getting DS' tongue tie cut. Looked nice! Tell us about yourself Grin

I ended up having a great weekend, SIL, BIL and DNiece (15 weeks) popped in on Saturday, then we went into London for a friend's birthday, and on Sunday we had a BBQ with friends.

Hope you're both feeling better Jessica and RunnerBean and had good weekends!

I just dropped my phone down the loo (that will teach me!) so it's in a bag of rice Grin

mummyrunnerbean · 17/08/2015 21:11

Sounds like a lovely weekend JH! I spent mine helping my Mum pack up her house and removing all the crap I've never taken with me as she's downsizing.

I got my phone soaked when we were on holiday a few weeks ago and had no rice handy, so ended up leaving it wrapped in a clean nappy for a day as it was the most absorbent thing I had with me. It sort of worked short term but was never quite the same and died a few days after we got home. Hope your rice is more successful!

PerfectlyPosed · 17/08/2015 22:52

I've just gone to get DS from his first day at nursery two hours early because I was missing him Blush.

I think it's meant to be better by the weekend isn't it JH?

Imnotfromaroundhere · 25/08/2015 16:51

ToffeeCrisp40 · 27/08/2015 10:20

Me well pushing 41 but still feel in my 20's. I work fulltime. I cook nice meals but couldn't bake for the life of me. I drive but not the motorway lol. Not on your belly mate. Need a holiday but can't afford one. Good thing about today is its payday tomorrow hey can leave the penny box alone, till next week anyways

ToffeeCrisp40 · 27/08/2015 21:53

PerfectlyPosed · 01/09/2015 21:24

Hi
I'm very well thanks! I am 28 and have a 6 month old DD. Have lived in Godalming for about 7 years but grew up in Guildford so have always been local. My dad was at Surrey uni and used to drink in Godalming as a young man. How are you settling in JHH?

JHH15 · 03/09/2015 18:33

Hi Perfectly, only just saw your post! That's great, you must be a Godalming expert! Are your family still nearby? That must be nice :)

I'm settling in well thanks, although as we're settling in the novelty is wearing off and I found myself thinking today that it's time I made some friends! I have been going to 2 baby groups but didn't make either this week as DS wanted to sleep just before we had to leave! So we stayed home. He's getting into a routine but not quite reliable yet, and knowing my luck his routine will be awkward and no groups will fit in with it haha :)

I have no idea how to meet people otherwise though :-s

We had a housewarming BBQ over the bank holiday which was great although no neighbours came. Luckily it was the one dry day!

Hope everyone enjoyed the bank hol?
