Leeds mums or mums to be

hollyhoward · 06/03/2015 20:17

Hi, I moved to Leeds last year and although I have some friends in the area (I went to school in York) I an yet to make any mummy friends and find it hard to keep on a level with my non-mummy friends' interests. Just wondering if anyone has been in this situation? I have tried to make new friend via baby/toddler groups but haven't seemed to hit it off with anyone and the people there gave seemed very cliquey. I have a toddler and another on the way and being a full time mum means i don't have the opportunity to meet people at work. Any advice would be very welcome ?? x

Hi Holly,
I replied to the message you posted on the thread I started- sounds like we're in a similar situation for different reasons! Feel free to PM me if you fancy meeting for a coffee or something.

nannynome · 16/03/2015 22:27

Another one here too, I have a toddler and am due at the end of July/beginning of August for number 2, we are in North leeds. Always happy for meet ups although I am working full time til maternity so am weekends only :)

SnowCurl · 17/03/2015 08:21

Hello ladies

Another one to join the thread. We also moved to Leeds last year from London and still don't really know anyone. Currently 29 weeks pregnant with number 3 and would really like to meet some other mums to be/mums. Would be really nice to meet up and extend the social life Wink

Blondie87 · 17/03/2015 09:22

I agree, would be nice to get to know people who'll be on maternity leave at a similar time! I'm also still working full time so weekends are currently best although start my maternity leave towards the end of April.

Blondie87 · 17/03/2015 09:23

We're also North Leeds.

Lollypops20181 · 17/03/2015 09:27

I'm in a similar position, although not new to the area. Would love to join you for a coffee? It'd be great to meet some mums of toddlers and newborns - this second maternity feels like it's going to be very different to my first!

hollyhoward · 18/03/2015 18:34

Hi ladies,
wow, seems like there are quite a few of us in the same position ?? shall we organise a little get together? X

SnowCurl · 18/03/2015 22:55

That would be great Smile

nannynome · 19/03/2015 07:05

And me :) I moved up from London 4 years ago btw, a meet up sounds like a plan!

Blondie87 · 19/03/2015 07:31

Great! Next few weekends are quite busy but I'm around next Sunday (28th) if people are free to go for a coffee somewhere?

SnowCurl · 19/03/2015 07:46

Where abouts in London did you come from nannynome?

We are away next weekend (Child free night away. Woo hoo!) Not sure what time we are travelling back on Sunday.

hollyhoward · 19/03/2015 09:29

I moved from near London too :) I'm actually staying in London visiting my mum from 27th-7th, so it would have to be before or after that for me. Ooh snowcurl a child free night you lucky thing! X

I can't do 28th ... How about after Easter? 12th or 19th April?

hollyhoward · 19/03/2015 10:03

12th or 19th sounds good to me :) x

Small world. I grew up in west London and moved out to Surrey when we had our first son.

I'm a knightmare and have booked so much in over next few weekends to try and squeeze things in b4 baby arrives. I'm free Easter weekend and 25/26th April for anyone that might be free on those dates. Otherwise I might have to catch some of you during the week or another time.

How are all your pregnancies going?

Lollypops20181 · 19/03/2015 14:25

I could do weekend of 26th.

Blondie87 · 19/03/2015 18:49

I could do the weekend of the 25/26th April as will have just started maternity leave woo!

nannynome · 19/03/2015 20:32

I am free weekend of the 25th/26th too and most of the others excepting next weekend, I take DS swimming at 2pm on a Sunday though.

I lived in London for 10 years, 8 around camden/Kentish town and 2 down in Herne Hill (in an attempt to avoid easy night buses and to stop going out so much!)

SnowCurl · 20/03/2015 08:46

Ooh, maternity leave. Blondie make sure you go to the cinema, relax and eat popcorn!

Nannynome, we lived in Streatham Hill for 4 years. We also had our wedding party at The Vine in Kentish town. Smile

hollyhoward · 20/03/2015 09:58

Seems like everyone is free weekend 25th/26th, am am I! Wonderful stuff.
Does anyone have any specific preferences as to where we could meet up?

Oh blondie, Snowcurl is so right...I miss the cinema! I wish I'd spent my maternity doing all of the things that you can't so when you have little ones haha instead I spent most of my time 'nesting'

How funny that so many of us have come from the same area. I was slightly more out than you, Bromley...they cant quite make their minds up whether that is in kent or a borough of london. Also lived in Reading for a long time. So how come everyone moved to Leeds?

Also how far along are you all with pregnancies/ how old are your little ones?
X

Cinema and popcorn sound like a plan! Leaving at 37 weeks' so hopefully I'll have a bit of time before the arrival! I'm currently 32 weeks.

It's funny that most of you have moved up from London. Only lived there myself for a year while I did my Masters but enjoyed it. Was based in Camden. Most of my uni friends live down there now so I always try to get down and see them when I can!

Happy to meet anywhere; are most people North Leeds? If so perhaps Chapel Allerton, Headingley or Roundhay would be good?

nannynome · 20/03/2015 18:42

I moved due to a selection of things, now DH and I had been dating 6 months between London and Leeds, I was then made redundant and my rental was coming to an end so it made sense to move in with him since it was costing us a fortune being up and down every other weekend! Best decision I ever made Grin

Lollypops20181 · 20/03/2015 20:32

Roundhay might be good as there's lots of parking and it's easy to get to how about the cafe there? Is it the Lakeside Cafe?
