Hi there

You might find this thread from a couple of years ago useful

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/education/1041145-Best-private-schools-in-Cornwall-amp-Devon/AllOnOnePage

Not much has changed in this sector over the years!

You dont have much choice but you are are much closer to Bolitho than Truro have a look here

I think things have changed since that thread.

Firstly Mount House no longer exists, its been subsumed into Kelly College and become Mount Kelley. HT changed twice.

Truro, I am told has issues. Some parents are not happy.

St Josephs is still the best school in Cornwall but it only goes up to 16. Find a place elsewhere at your peril.

Shebbear seems to be up and coming but I am not sure about that. Maybe flim flam.

Plymouth College - HT about to retire. Expect changes.

Trinity stays the same - full of flimflam,

Exeter and Blundells OK for the time being.

Kingsley just got a new HT. I wouldnt rate it.

Stover hasnt got a HT. Old one retired. They are shifting rudderless on a collision course unless and until a new HT can sort them out. Disagreeable Senior Leadership.

Exeter still Ok I think.

Maynards, not as selective as once suggested. My little ponyish.

Stoodley - I dont know, maybe someone else does.

St Margarets closed down.

Maybe someone can fill in the ones I do not have there?

Sorry, in Cornwall, not much choice. Truro or pretty well nothing. St Josephs is a day school in Launceston may well be too far for OP to travel.

I read the second post which gave the list of Devon and Cornwall. I misread the OP. Sorry.

Bolitho is very much an International School I think.

Any views on roselyon?

My daughter is in the sixth form. She transferred to Truro High School from an International school overseas and now boards. She loves every minute and is doing well academically. I don't have any complaints. FYI Truro High is a girls school and Truro School is coed. I have heard mixed reviews of Truro School. We chose Truro High because it seemed more nurturing and homely, which is what we were looking for but everyone's child is different. I like the fact that they have a cross section of abilities but focus on getting the best from the individual child. I'm a teacher so have a good radar for BS and marketing jargon on websites. I feel Truro High delivers what it claims to deliver. A lovely, nurturing school - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Hello
We started our daughter in the nursery at Truro High School just before she was three. We moved her from another local nursery as I wasn't entirely satisfied. We spoke to all the other schools but this one stood out for us. We have a bit of a trek each day but it is worth it. A lot of families travel miles every day to come!

From the second our daughter walked in she loved it. It's like a home from home. It was a natural progression she would continue through the school. The teachers and support staff in the prep are marvellous and form such close relationships with the girls and their parents. Class sizes are small enough the girls receive applicable individual learning. They all appear so happy and enthusiastic.

My daughter is extremely happy here and this speaks volumes.
