March evening meetup

GinAndIt · 05/03/2014 14:02

So I've finally got around to starting a new thread!

Could people please let me know when they are available for an evening meet up and we can get something organised. I thought the pint shop might be nice but other suggestions are welcome. Smile

Fridays after the 28th work for me

theA14 · 06/03/2014 20:41

Hello, fridays are generally still good for me too. NewtoCambridge - would that include the 28th or be from the 4th April?

GinAndIt · 07/03/2014 07:20

Yep Fridays for me too. April is better for me but if everyone is available in march I'm still happy to book somewhere for you.

I'm free whenever and I'll even try to actually come this time!

LocalEditorCambridge · 11/03/2014 16:36

I would love to come please! I'm desperate for a few shandies.

Rumour has it The Pint Shop has loads of gin and sausage rolls on offer -

What more does a mumsnet meet up need (scarf, hair cut & penis beaker go without saying natch)

GinAndIt · 11/03/2014 21:26

So which Friday ( or Saturday) is good for people?

OP posts:
NekoKutsu · 13/03/2014 16:54

April would be better for me :)

pointythings · 17/03/2014 15:09

Friday after work would be perfect for me - April would probably be best as I'm a bit fully booked and even then it would have to be the 25th or after (social butterfly, me).

If there's going to be gin I'm going to stay overnight.

GinAndIt · 17/03/2014 18:07

Ok so is April 25 th ok for everyone? It's better for me because I start my new job next week and it would be good to be earning money again before I start spending on wine!

where would people like to meet?

OP posts:
GinAndIt · 17/03/2014 18:08

pointythings yes I would say gin is a certainty Grin

OOOH!!! . This place does have proper tonic to put in its gin, doesn't it?

godolphinarms · 18/03/2014 20:47

I might be in- I'm not a stay out late one though- I tend to peak too early if there's gin involved.

pointythings · 18/03/2014 21:12

I don't do really late either, godolphin, 11pm is about my limit.

CambridgeNewbie · 19/03/2014 19:48

I was just about to leap up and write it on the calendar when I realised it's DH's birthday. So best not! Next time : )

NewtoCambridge · 19/03/2014 20:21

25th might work for me, I'm at a conference in London for 2 days so will probably need a gin

GinAndIt · 20/03/2014 08:16

So shall I book a table for the 25th at the pint shop? (Hopefully you can make next time cambridgenewbie !)

I have no clue what proper tonic is so I'm just going to hope that they have it!

OP posts:
pointythings · 20/03/2014 08:31

Yes, go for it.

Proper tonic is Fever Tree. Schweppes has artificial sweeteners in, which spoil the flavours of really good gin. I had a word with the barman at the Liverpool Hilton about it the other day - they had Hendricks and Sipsmith, but no Fever Tree to go with it, so I had to have wine instead. Which is what I'll do if the gin doesn't work out, so I'll be there no matter what!

LocalEditorCambridge · 20/03/2014 10:31

12a Club have been in touch via Facebook to see if we want to pop in there!

What does everything think?

pointythings · 20/03/2014 10:44

I don't really do clubs, but if everyone else wants to go I can just bail beforehand.

Peggetty · 20/03/2014 10:47

Has anyone been to one of the local meetups and found one of their non-internet friends there? Just wondered, given Cambridge seems such a small place, parent-activity-wise!

I may be able to come along...but as ever I'm one of those annoying maybes.

Peggetty · 20/03/2014 10:48

And exciting to be offered a peep into the club, I would have thought (looked at membership rates when it opened and realised would never be going!)

LocalEditorCambridge · 20/03/2014 12:23

Is a club club? I don't know - I've said I'll go and have a look first as it might not be the best venue for us. I think it's a private members club rather than nightclub.

I can't do nightclubs either - because I'm ancient and can't hear what anyone is saying, and want a seat - and this list could go on forever.

Peggetty · 20/03/2014 12:31

no it's not a loud dancy club, it's what you said

LocalEditorCambridge · 20/03/2014 12:35

are we now VIPs?

GinAndIt · 20/03/2014 12:36

I've had a look at the 12a website. It looks lovely, quite dressy though. I'd like to go if they're offering, notice they don't mention any prices!
It doesn't look like a nightclub with crappy music and sweat dripping off the ceilings so that's good!
