C25K buddy?

BikeRider33 · 25/03/2013 17:15

Is anyone interested in starting the C25K running thing with me after the Easter holidays? I really need to do something but lack motivation to do things alone and don't really know anyone to ask to start it with me.

I'm nearing 50 and way too heavy but know once I get started I will feel so much better. I'm looking to do this while the children are at school (and make sure there is no chance of having to do school run in sports kits!). I live near Addenbrookes, but could cycle (or even drive) to a suitable place to jog.

If you are interested we could meet somewhere central to start with (like a cafe with cake - this is why I need to run!) so you can see I really am an overweight, unfit middle aged woman!

I'll be wearing a baby (grin) not whilst jogging though (obviously)
Just to clarify are we just meeting and having a coffee, sorting out logistics etc? Not actually going for a run after?

mynameisnt · 05/04/2013 17:34

oo no! Not after coffee and cake!!

Thumbtack · 05/04/2013 20:02

Cake, you say? Excellent. See you all there then!

NewtoCambridge · 05/04/2013 20:36

Won't be able to make that as I'll be working, but if you do a lunchtime run I might be in

Thumbtack · 06/04/2013 11:56

Newtocambridge - what time slot is your
'lunchtime' ?

NewtoCambridge · 06/04/2013 21:37

I'm not on a scheduled lunch, so am reasonably flexible and can usually get out of the office between 12 and 2

mynameisnt · 16/04/2013 14:57

are we still on for friday??

Shells · 17/04/2013 12:18

I am.

mynameisnt · 17/04/2013 12:42

fabulous.

JennyWren1234 · 17/04/2013 14:21

I would be interested in joining you, but can't make this Friday. I'd ignored the thread because I thought C25k stood for Cambridge 25km - doh!

mynameisnt · 17/04/2013 17:20

I only just realised it was 5 km not 25 Grin That's shame though. When would yu be free?

mynameisnt · 17/04/2013 20:29

hum, I have been trying to pm people with my name and suchlike but thepm thingy on here does't seem to be working :(

BikeRider33 · 17/04/2013 23:31

I'm still coming. Will you really wear red trousers? Trying to think of my distinguishing garment. A pink sweater?

Think a 25k might take me a while to build up to!

OP posts:
mynameisnt · 18/04/2013 08:39

Yes, the red trousers are on the ironing plie Grin. I will also have a scarf on !

Shells · 18/04/2013 11:36

Where on Mill Road is black cat?

mynameisnt · 18/04/2013 12:40

It's almost directly opposite the church near the bridge on the romsey side, opposite Kailesh as well. !

Thumbtack · 18/04/2013 16:11

I'll be there if it isn't raining - I know that sounds pathetic but I've got set off at 9.30 ish coz I'm the other side of town plus the baby, so yes I'll be there weather permitting! If not please please update me on meeting times . .

mynameisnt · 18/04/2013 19:27

I understand totally - would never have left the house with small baby on wet days before i could drive (which is why i need to start running!)

mynameisnt · 18/04/2013 19:27

trousers are ironed Grin

mynameisnt · 19/04/2013 13:56

Lovely to meet up today! Thumbtack - I hope you got home ok - I should have offered you a lift! See you all next week.

Shells · 20/04/2013 08:29

Yes, very nice to see you all. For those who couldn't make it - we decided we're definitely going to do a Friday morning run together but that individually we'd be doing runs at other times. So if others not at coffee wanted to join up with any of those we'll use the thread to let you know where and when.

BikeRider33 · 20/04/2013 16:15

It was nice to meet you all. I'm planning my first run for Monday sometime (unless I can find an excuse !)

mynameisnt · 20/04/2013 17:04

I think I'm going to give it a go round CH park tomorrw evening..having friends for dinner with probably too much alcohol tonight - so i will make it my final blow out Grin Oh, and I forgot to pay for my coffee Shock I must go back and do that!

mynameisnt · 21/04/2013 19:03

hurray!! Just done the first one Grin It was an awful lot harder than I expected, but I persevered and feel very pleased!! Will do it again Tuesday I think.. Wow!

BikeRider33 · 22/04/2013 17:13

Did my first run today! Not sure the pace changed much between the walking and running and think my legs will ache tomorrow but it's done.
