Early Night Club

Flushed with the success of today's Cambridge and surrounding environs meet up (two people that weren't me came, they were both lovely,) I thought I would mention the Early Night Club - I am a bit late to this phenomenon I am aware but I went last month and had a top night.

I'm certain there must have been other MNetters there. If so, I was the red-faced lady risking my pelvic floor, throwing ill-advised shapes and shouting 'it's just not the same, dancing in your kitchen' when The Chemical Brothers came on.

The next one is on May 24th. I intend to be there.

That sounds fab, I have real trouble staying up past midnight Blush

It was lovely to meet all three of you today! :)

Throughgrittedteeth · 21/04/2012 21:53

WOW that looks brilliant! I haven to say though that I'm still a traditional club goer at heart (should the opportunity arise) but by 1ish I am struggling and would quite like a lovely sleep, so this would be the perfect balance! I would definitely be up for this :)

sairygamp · 21/04/2012 21:54

ooh, I saw that advertised in the gym. Sounds like a plan!

An0therName · 21/04/2012 22:35

Just put an evening do suggestion on the other thread - but this sounds FAB - also have problems staying up late but LOVE dancing - very badly -

Hooray! Am picturing confused door staff as at least 4 people waltz in in purple leopard print scarves. An0thername - have also asked my boss ;).

Tickets go on sale next week. Will post the eventbrite link when it's available.

Rubyrubyruby - I'm in my (cough) mid thirties, there were lots of people older. It's definitely more whether you would enjoy it or not.

The last one, to begin with, was too loud - given that the club seemed to be about 96% mums (based on the collective rendition of Dolly Parton's classic, 9 to 5.) I was worrying I'd invited friends and it was going to be bobbins. But then it calmed down and got significantly better (I know all the words to 9 to 5.) .

AuntieBulgaria · 01/05/2012 10:43

Tickets for the May Early Night Club are on sale. I am off to get one.

If you want to come along in a mini-meet up stylee, post here.

Or don't, then come along anyway and spend the night playing guess the mumsnetters.

There will be free Sangria apparently, so I will be the one rolling drunk at 8.11pm.

Tickets booked.
Babysitter not yet, but working on it.

Will be wearing a gregg's sausage roll in my button hole so you will recognise me. And carrying a fruit shoot.

goldenpeach · 12/05/2012 06:03

I'm thinking of going if partner sits at home. Auntie Bulgaria, was it you I met light years ago at library meetup (in the cafe and then downstairs???)

goldenpeach · 12/05/2012 09:06

Bought my ticket... first time ever there

AuntieBulgaria · 13/05/2012 23:34

Yes, Goldenpeach, t'was me. We're connected on Linked In. Good to hear we have a few takers. :)

OP posts:
goldenpeach · 15/05/2012 11:26

It's tricky with all these nicknames... Re LinkedIn, I have lots of connections there, several are working mums so I am a bit stumped. It will get clear on the night...

At the risk of sounding ancient, what do you do with bags there? Is there a reliable wardrobe/check in for bulky bags (I'm cycling) and would I need something small for valuables? I haven't been to a club for years. I used to dance ceroc in London but you could leave the bag under the chair safely there, not a thing I'd try in a nightclub.

Incaminka · 15/05/2012 11:41

Hi everyone
Feeling a bit shy! I'm 42, and expecting my first (but it is early days, only 6 weeks at the minute). I like dancing too, and have often been to La Raza when friends are playing. (I'm a singer, but more folky than La Raza style). Might dip my toe - the only problem is, I'm finding an early night in this first trimester often means bed at 9!!!! Grin

Fishandjam · 15/05/2012 12:21

Damn, that sounds like fun, but not with a 36 week bulge (and heartburn, pelvic pain and sciatica!) Will have to wait until the proto-fish is exited, I guess.

AuntieBulgaria · 16/05/2012 13:03

Hello, have got babysitter confirmed today, hooray.

Goldenpeach - I didn't notice the cloakroom arrangements last time, sorry, we just all piled out stuff on a bench and danced round carried our handbags. Give them a call, I'm sure they'd let you know - or post on the [[http://www.facebook.com/#!/earlynightclub
Facebook group]]

So that's me, An0thername, theGrowlyGus and GoldenPeach with tickets.
Incaminka thinking about it.

EauRogue, ThroughGrittedTeeth, SairgyGamp and RubyRubyRuby - can we persuade you?

The ENC website says there are 43 tickets left so nearly sold out but not quite - I'm not sure if you can just rock up on the night.

So what's our secret sign going to be?
