Early Night Club

Flushed with the success of today's Cambridge and surrounding environs meet up (two people that weren't me came, they were both lovely,) I thought I would mention the Early Night Club - I am a bit late to this phenomenon I am aware but I went last month and had a top night.

I'm certain there must have been other MNetters there. If so, I was the red-faced lady risking my pelvic floor, throwing ill-advised shapes and shouting 'it's just not the same, dancing in your kitchen' when The Chemical Brothers came on.

The next one is on May 24th. I intend to be there.

Sorry FishandJam, didn't mean to leave you out, good luck for the imminent arrival of littlefish - it might be what you need to get you going??

Eeek I'm coming! Some of my NCT friends are going to join me too. I'm quite excited at the thought of having a great night but being home at a reasonable time, I won't tell my hipster single friends that though Wink

Thanks Auntie B. It sounds OK if you trust the bench. I will keep valuables on me anyway. Mind you in the very long past I got a coat nicked in a club. Won't take anything swanky though as I'm cycling.

Is there some dress code (such as no trainers nor jeans??? I am not going to come in high heels, so pondering on what shoes to take with me, although I can always leave the chunky ones in the bike's pannier.

I will be early to sample the sangria and just in case I cannot stay till the bitter end. I tend to wake up between 4 and 5am in the morn so a bit pooped in the evening. And it's not my daughter who wakes me up, it's my stiff back or the birds or the 1000s of things to do every day.

Sign??? What about a big flower brooch? You could just stick a pin behind some fake flower you have (such as those on hair bands) if you don't have a flower brooch. Or wear a fresh one with pin Open to suggestions if too naff.

Also wondering what people wore - was planing on jeans - smartish and a top

AuntieBulgaria · 20/05/2012 21:48

I wore jeans last time. I am very likely to wear them this time too.

See you tomorrow... arr, feeling a bit anxious, I don't normally go out at night anymore and certainly not in town....

thegrowlygus · 23/05/2012 22:13

Our babysitter has just phoned in sick. Boo hiss. Next time? (oh and I wore jeans last time and a nice top and that was what most people were in really)

Brilliant and sweaty for me. I cycled back from it and it was quite a warm night too. Thanks Auntie for herding us there! Plenty of women, not that many men - not that I wanted to pull but I just noticed the disparity.

Does it mean that men are freer to go to 'normal' clubs and us mums have to compromise because childminding is more of our priority? I feel that even if my partner is very supportive (much more than other partners I know), he can go to any event while I have to negotiate (I'm always more tired when he is around so don't fancy going out and less free to plan events when he is working on a project).

Really enjoyed it too - re going out - my DH has to negotiate - particuarly as I am working in the evenings quite a bit at the moment -I go out more than him - but he does go away for his hobby for a few nights at a time which I wouldn't want to do -I think it can be harder for women proritise things for themself

AuntieBulgaria · 26/05/2012 15:35

I had a great time, thank you to everyone that braved coming along - it was nice to go out with a new mix of people. I also enjoy the fact that it feels like lots of ladies just like me. More relaxed.

Lady in the dark blue top with yellow flowers on - were you a mumsnetter?

I was wearing pale pink shorts and a top with butterflies on. I had a great night, it was a shame I had to drive otherwise I might have had a few bevvys. Glad everyone had a great time :)

Somebody told me about this Lola something tropical club which is opposite Carluccio's, it is free to go in early in the evening. I know a couple of friends who went for a drink and left before midnight. Might not be that busy early on though.... It would be handy as bike parking is around the corner.
