Things to do with baby in manchester city centre

Does anyone out there lives in manchester city centre? I am pulling my hair out to find something to do with my 7 months old baby, any swimming classes, baby yoga, etc. I really don't want to travel so far! I did managed to find a baby yoga class, that's about it, and I registered my details, they did'nt get back to me!

thanks for that, I've been to a surestart centre, and it's got a waiting list, and apparently it didn't accept anyone to get on that waiting list!!

they do free baby and toddler sessions at the Whitworth Art Gallery on Mondays, which is a short hop on the bus out of town. You do need to book in advance as they're really popular. And Hulme Garden centre have a baby/toddler morning, which is £2 per session - again, 5mins on the bus from town. Actually, both are walkable if the weather's ok.

and the city library does a rhyme time session.

haha - i have such a fear of the preschool holidays that i am bringing my maternity leave to a premature finish at the end of July, so they'll be in nursery 2 days each week . all the toddler groups here break up for the summer, and the thought of toddler plus baby, minus cheapo things to do, was all too much.

Anyone want to do daytime toddler meetups?

i'd be up for meeting up on one of my days off. 4yo is relatively placid but the baby can be somewhat awful wilful.

I've got a 5 year old and a 21 month old. Both are 'special' in their own ways...
MOSI would be good as we could do picnics upstairs plus if it is a nice day, there is always the park beside the Whitworth to sit in later if it's a nice day.

I'm up for this. I've got many Mondays and Tuesdays to fill over the summer with a very 'interesting' 4 year old.

I also have a 5 year old so is the Whitworth thing also appropriate to bring him to ? Used to take him to the Whitworh sessions a couple of years ago. They were good then.

Sounds good. I have to name change as mumsnet have just asked me to (nicely). Apparently there have been several complaints about it. Will be back as a more sanitised version of myself (in n/name at least!)

The good thing about meeting around there is if not, there's also the Manc Museum nearby, as per TSC's suggestion.

Also, looks like there's at least one toddler group (near-ish to the city centre) that will be running over the summer. I found this on netmums:

Yes, the aquatics centre would be good. (I'm old and fat btw). I seem to live up and down that stretch of road in schools hols. We do Whitworth art gallery/museum/whitworth park/swimming and frequent that Starbucks by the BBC quite a lot too. Also DH works in the uni and his office is right beside the museum so we are always trying to visit him at work (and he is always trying to get away from us!)

OK, how about either Monday the 25th or Tuesday the 26th? We could choose one or two things to do along that stretch for then, and then decide on further things in person.
