Hello [hsmile]

May I gatecrash and tell you about a baby signing class in Scarborough? It's not actually by me, so hopefully mumsnet won't boot me off for free advertising [hhmm][hgrin], I'm just letting you know because it might be near you and we need to support local groups like this. Honest Guv!

FREE TASTER CLASS November 24th at 9-45am, Queen Street Methodist Hall in Scarborough. All mums and babies birth to 2 years welcome.

facebook page and Twitter is TinyTalkScar

The classes were suspended 2 years ago when the course leader had to take a break. Anyone who is local to Scarborough may have heard of Ellie, and her mum Heather. On Valentines day this year Ellie died of a brain tumour. Ellie was 14, and had battled from the age of 9. Ellie managed to raise about £25,000 for research into brain tumours. Her family and friends continue the good fight www.elliesfund.com/
After her death her school released a song in her memory. You can see the video on YouTube And you can buy it too, the amazon link is there. It's 79p [hsmile]. There are several fundraising options on the Ellie's Fund site, which I just mention in passing. By and by. [hgrin]

So now the classes are back, and the taster session is not too long away. This is a lovely way to be with your baby, and meet some other mums too.
Let's all wish Heather the best of luck getting her classes back up and running, no doubt they will be as popular as ever.

I thank you.

Best of luck to Heather - i did babysigning with both of mine and they loved it so can really recommend also we were reading the little mermaid the other day and when she has to give up her voice for her legs my son said ' but why couldn't she just sign to make herself understood' - now there's a solution to a fairy tale!

Have just been to the free taster. It was brill Grin Lots of age range in the babies, from couple of months through to toddler.

Just to say, Ellie was diagnosed at 11. Not 9. Many apologies.

The classes start in January. Message me, or check out http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Scarborough-United-Kingdom/TinyTalk-Scarborough-Malton-Driffield/151016611604462 fb page and you can get in touch with the course leader directly.

Taster was fab!
