That's it really. I'm English (DP too). We have a two year old boy and live in Valencia.

Hi pato, soph hope you're all fine - the storm pretty much missed us - in fact the winds we had last week where worse !

patito · 28/02/2010 19:51

Hi

Same here, had much worse without any warnings before. Never mind made me tidy up balcony which was in a bit of a state really.!!

SuperSoph73 · 01/03/2010 15:08

Hey Twig & Patito We survived ... but did end up with half a dog kennel & a plastic rubbish bin on our patio on Sat morning. The other half of the dog kennel is on the conservatory roof 3 doors along. Nobody has come knocking so they either haven't realised they're missing a kennel or they just don't care!!! Hope the dog wasn't in it at the time ... could have been a bit of a Dorothy and Toto situation

patito · 02/03/2010 12:46

Hi

Had a good morning today, as I had 1st scan and heard the heart beat, seems Im a week or more than thought so looking at end of Aug due date. Cant wait to be heavily pregnant in the height of the summer!

Also got to see the baby in 4D, I thought you only got that if you went private. It was amazing and so detailed.

Hope alls well with you both.

SuperSoph73 · 03/03/2010 11:57

How exciting patito. I didn't get to see either of mine in 4D. I did get to see DS2 in 3D though, but did go private to do it, it was incredible. I don't think they had the machines when I was pregnant with DS1. I can also empathise with you HUGELY. DS1 was born in Oct, right when we were having one of our hottest years. It was 41 degrees in Materno

Took DS2 to paed yesterday as he's got quite bad reflux & has had a bad chest & snotty nose for a while now. He's got some antibiotics for his chest & a tablet to take every morning to stop him vomiting, so we'll see how it goes. I was getting a bit worried about him as you could see that he was getting thinner. Hopefully he'll gain a bit of weight now though

Apart from that we're fine. Weather quite sunny today - very nice

patito · 03/03/2010 13:01

HI

Soph Sorry to hear DS2 nots so well. Hope he´s feeling better soon.

SuperSoph73 · 03/03/2010 13:11

Thanks patito he's such a little trooper, which I think comes from him having Downs. You never really appreciate how unwell he feels as he smiles his way through absolutely everything. He's not suffered too much with the chest & snotty nose it was just the constant vomiting that was worrying me & he obviously wasn't getting the nutrients, etc that he needed He'll be fine once all the treatment kicks in.

Twig20151 · 03/03/2010 13:52

Hi, great to hear that all went well at the scan patito. I don't envy you waddling around in the summer heat - I was lucky ds was born in January and dd was born in England, so I didn't have the heat to deal with either time

soph have you had any takers for the half a dog kennel yet??? Sorry to hear that ds is not well, I hope the tablets kick in soon and he can keep some food down.

It was just like home here this morning - grey and rainy, but the sun has come out now, it reminds me why I prefer living here to grey Olde England

patito · 08/03/2010 13:01

hi

Woke up to snow today, and it hasn´t stopped all day.

Twig Hows the rain down in Valencia? saw the teledario yesterday and didn´t look good, I dont know if it effects your area.

Twig20151 · 08/03/2010 21:22

Hi,

Luckily we live on a mountainside - so the rain just pours past the house . It has dropped from 26 degrees last week to 8 degrees today ARGH

Mind you still not cold enough to snow - have fun making snowmen !

patito · 09/03/2010 12:54

HI

Not enough to make snowmen unfortunatley. But the same, last week 26º t-shirt and sunglasses, yesterday 2º!!!

SuperSoph73 · 09/03/2010 15:02

Hey there! Don't envy you your weather. It's been fairly nice here over the last couple of days. I have the infometeo channel on every morning & often think of you two enjoying the rain & the snow ... not The wind has really picked up here today - very odd!

DS2 didn't respond at all well to the treatment that the paed suggested so we were at the docs on Tues, Thurs & Fri last week & I had to take him back yesterday as well. He managed to keep all his food down yesterday, apart from a yoghurt that I gave him in the afternoon. So that really was quite good. I just have to keep an eye on him & he's back on the tablets to stop the vomiting so, fingers crossed. He has to go straight back to the paed though if he starts vomiting a lot again. Hey ho, just keep smiling

Twig20151 · 11/03/2010 18:18

soph sorry to hear about your ds - he's been ill for quite a while now hasn't he?

We've got Fallas over the next couple of weeks - the village this weekend then Valencia the next. Basically means the kids are at home more than at school ARGH. Everyone is just hoping that the weather doesn't get any colder or wetter !

patito where are you ? I'm sure you've said but I can't remember

SuperSoph73 · 12/03/2010 12:01

Hey Twig DS2 will grow out of it eventually (fingers crossed). I think things tend to calm down for children with Downs Syndrome once they hit about 3 yrs old, however, we're always going to have to keep an eye on his health. Fortunately though he seems to be keeping his food down & only spits up a tiny amount during the day now. Yay! Dare I say .... but it even looks as though he's gaining a bit of weight at long last.

What's Fallas btw? I just can't wait until the end of term (26th March) - 2 whole weeks without being surrounded by this rabble - bliss I love them really LOL!

Twig20151 · 12/03/2010 15:55

Whats Fallas OMG !

It's THE festival in the Valencia region. Each Casal (estate or area in Valencia and each village) make massive sculptures out of wood and stuff - they are quite amazing actually - they spent all year making them then burn them on San Juan 17 March. The local girls/young ladies are Falleras and dress up in amazing dresses and they choose a Fallera Major and a Fallera Major Infantil (bit like a beauty pagent). Google it - it's something to see.

I can't imagine having to deal with 'up chuck' for 3 years I'm soo glad he seems to be improving.

You are counting the days till the end of term and I'm dreading the Easter holidays - my two fight like cat and dog !

Twig20151 · 14/03/2010 07:30

Happy English Mothers Day !

SuperSoph73 · 15/03/2010 16:18

Sorry Twig I am a complete cretin and never know what's going on around me Did you do anything to celebrate english Mother's Day? TBH we don't tend to celebrate english or spanish mother's or father's day. I've made a card for the boys to give DH on the 19th but that's it. We don't do presents or go out or anything.

Forgot to take DS2's anti-vomiting tablets with us when we went to lunch at a friend's house yesterday ..... was not pleasant, poor little thing! Got him home, fed him because he was sooo hungry, gave him a tablet and he kept it all down. I guess it just goes to prove that the tablets actually work. I felt really guilty, even though he didn't seem to mind ...... bad mummy!

Twig20151 · 15/03/2010 19:36

Your poor little man - like you said at least you know the tablets work.

I keep trying to convince DH that we should celebrate English Mothers day, the Spanish one and the Venezuelan one (dh is from Venezuela) Unfortunately it doesn't work so I have to be content with just the Spanish one

My brain is def turning to mush - I realised as soon as I had posted the last message that they burn the fallas on San Jose not San Juan and that it is the 19th not the 17th

SuperSoph73 · 16/03/2010 13:11

Twig - I tried to convince DH to do the same thing for a couple of years running but I just got ignored Good job I'm not one of these people who gets upset easily

patito · 16/03/2010 13:24

HI

Havent been on for a couple of days as have had visiters. Sorry to hear about DS2 and vomiting. Hope it is something he´´ll be able to grow out of, must be awful for him.

I also tried to hint to DP about celebrating both Spanish and English Mothers Day by making card and buying chocolates for him on both Fathers Day (even though he´´s Spanish!) but as usual the hint was too subtle and went unnoticed .

twig feliz fallas for tomorrow!

SuperSoph73 · 16/03/2010 15:16

Hey patito. You should know better with men than to be subtle - never works IME

Fingers crossed DS2 will grow out of it, hopefully in about a years time. He's going for his 2year revision in April so will speak to the paed again and hopefully the tablets will be OK for him to keep taking.

patito · 23/03/2010 14:21

HI

How are things??

DS1 had his 2 yr check up today and everything good so far. . The nurse asked how many hours of TV he watches and suggested ¿un hora al dia? Hes 2!! He couldn´´t concentrate that long even if I let him.

Expecting the PIL this weekend to celebrate birthday, am quite scared at what they´´ll bring as a present. We´´ve had nothing but problems with them over gifts so far. They say its there DG and they can get him whatever they want, DP & I (thanks God he´´s with me on this)try to point out toys are also a question of education and please respect our decison if we dont him to have certain things. Not listened yet .

Pregnancy going well, just the usual complaints, tiredness/backache.

Hope alls well out there

SuperSoph73 · 24/03/2010 13:12

Hey patito Good to hear that the check went well. LOL at "un hora al dia" - they do have some funny ideas over here! Pleased to hear the pregnancy is progressing well - excusing the niggles of course

Sam is now waiting for 2 appointments at Materno. One to check there are no nasties in his digestive system and one to check his respiratory system. Not quite sure how long we'll have to wait but, fingers crossed, it won't be too long.

End of term on Friday (YAY!) and then 2 weeks hols ... I can't wait - not having to set the alarm clock, what bliss

SuperSoph73 · 24/03/2010 13:14

Oh yes, and forgot to say that I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you in regard to birthday presents. We're lucky because we get the family to put money in our account, we then buy the present & wrap it, they send a signed tag for us to put on it. Sorted

patito · 28/03/2010 11:20

Morning

Thats what happens with my family, or they send somehting small like a book or Tee shirt which is fine.

However , it´´s been great. They got him some clothes, a book and a toy bike. There´´s hope yet.
