So we chatterboxes from the meet-up thread have had our knuckles rapped. Shall we have our own thread? I'll start, shall I?

I am a little Aussie lass
I come from Sydney town
I put my knickers on my head
And my shoes on upside down

Yum, Bali. DH and I went on our first holiday as a couple to Bali. Magical place (if you stay well away of Kuta)

OP posts:
brightongirldownunder · 11/06/2008 06:56

Can you recommend places in Bali? Think DH and me need to celebrate 10 years of marriage...
Claudia - DH saw real potential in the music scene over here and being dj and music promoter applied for a disntinguished talent visa...and he got it! So proud! So I couldn't say "no" could I? He's already doing really well and I know it was the right decision as he's so happy. I'm beginning to chill out too and although I miss family and friends so much think it been really good for my confidence. I was turning into a shadow of my former self at home..

ninedragons · 11/06/2008 06:59

Posting after myself because I am a tiny little bit shaken, even though it was no big deal, but I want to rant and there's no better place.

The people down the corridor from us are selling their flat. I was outside hanging up laundry on the clothes horse, and an agent was standing down the corridor with a client. He had been ringing the bell for some time and obviously nobody was in. He and the client started walking towards me, I sort of smiled non-committally thinking they were going to see the view from the window at the end, and then the bastards stuck their head round my open door and had a good stickybeak inside! With very rude hand gestures I told them to turn around and fuck right off, but truth be told I feel a little violated.

I am going to get DH to ring the agency tomorrow and get the nosey little turd carpeted. We're going to lie and say we own our (very, very, VERY expensive) flat and now we won't be selling it through them.

brightongirldownunder · 11/06/2008 07:08

What bastards - seriously that little wanker should get the chop. How dare they?
Total invasion of privacy.
Hope you're ok - know I would be furious and a little shocked.
Just keep the mantra "tranny shoes, G & T, we all fall down" going. That should cheer you up!

ninedragons · 11/06/2008 07:23

Snort - I'll be singing "tranny shoes, G&T, we all fall down" instead of ring a ring of rosie all afternoon to DD.

I actually feel quite sorry for the agent - he doesn't know what's coming his way this afternoon! DH is a gentle soul in general but really rather savage when crossed. He's good at getting people fired. And I must say my ovaries fluttered the time some old alcoholic was extremely and persistently rude to me in a bar in Hong Kong and DH picked him up by his neck, dragged him out onto the street and physically threw him into the gutter. Everybody on the street was and I was

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Bali, which is blissful. It's got its own private beach where the staff will bring you a little picnic basket if you want to spend all day there.

bamamama · 11/06/2008 10:30

Ninedragons - that's awful, I hope you're feeling less shaken.

Brightongirl - I'm being totally nosey here but when is your anniversary? We hit the big 10 years in October and I can't think what to do. We'll be in the UK so given that we can never get a babysitter we'll probably end up with take away and a slightly classier bottle of wine

chloeb2002 · 11/06/2008 10:56

my funny tale for the day.. picked dd up from school, and one of the yummy munnys who at about 35 has retired... i ask you... walked into dd's class room to collect her son wearing a rather loud flouncy dress.. dd commented very loudly... why are you wearing the curtains! it was such a proud moment... words out of my own mouth, as i stood there covered in baby spew, in baggy tack a daks and a big t shirt! planning my return to work at the end of the year! i will just never make it in the yummy mummy stakes, and if i have to wear curtains to do so i wont bother!

brightongirldownunder · 11/06/2008 13:08

Chloe - join my scummy mummy thread. I need support if its going to stay on and very few are admitting we have faults! apparently nearly everyone on MN has near perfect homes, cupcakes a baking, with twig hearts hanging from beams in the kitchen and cath kidson furnishings (ok ninedragons I know I want the clogs!)..I am very confused. Unless the word scummy is putting people off?!!
Baba - its Aug 8, btw. Have already hooked up parents to babysit. Hooray!

ninedragons · 11/06/2008 13:44

I am cross with myself for being so disproportionately pissed off. It was just a look, after all. But it did feel creepy. DH called the agency and the manager was very apologetic and that particular agent is now banned from our building.

I think everyone is too embarrassed to admit their scummy mummy failings.

Our wedding anniversary is tomorrow, actually. DH's assistant mentioned it (hint hint) to Qantas when making the booking but I don't think our chances of an upgrade are very good now we have a four-month-old baby in tow.

brightongirldownunder · 11/06/2008 13:49

Nothing wrong with how you felt - I would have been the same, esp. with DD in house.

claudiaschiffer · 12/06/2008 01:09

Good morning, how are we all today?

Ninedragons I too would be pissed off, wierdo bluddy estate agent. How rude . . . hrumph.

hahahaha chloe. Good on your boy.

It's gloomy here in Adelaide today, I had my hair cut yesterday into a lovely bob, now I look like a newsreader. Not reeally sure it's the look i'm after.

sandcastles · 12/06/2008 01:40

ninedragons...what a liberty! How dare they do that...easy to have asked nicely, feckwits!

Claudia, are you me? I too had my hair cut into a neat bob yest'day [more for the ease when baby comes in 4 weeks]....

Where in SA are you?

claudiaschiffer · 12/06/2008 05:05

Hi Sandcastles, I'm up in the wilds of the Adelaide Hills, hence the gloomy weather. Foggy and wet here, all very English tbh. Where are you? I have washed and re-styled (ha) my hair today and now look less newsreadr'y' and more "oh god, got 2 kids and no time for anything", so back to normal then. Congrats on imminent arrival of your baby. Where are you having it? Did you have your 1st dc in the UK? I had a lovely time having dd2 over here. Was in public hosp but they were so wonderful I really resented having to go home.

brightongirldownunder · 12/06/2008 05:20

happy anniversary Ninedragons!

sandcastles · 12/06/2008 05:57

Claudia, I am in the Sothern Burbs, not far from Noarlunga.

Tis dry, but windy down here today!

I am having #2 at Flinders. They have been fab! I am high risk [Pre Eclampsia with dd1] and have to have all my appts there, but small price to know that all is OK & that I am getting great care!

sandcastles · 12/06/2008 06:13

Southern, of course!

sandcastles · 12/06/2008 06:14

And yes, dd1 was born in UK.

ninedragons · 12/06/2008 07:52

Thank you, bg!

Right, I am about to turn the computer off and the car is coming to pick us up. I am bricking it that my normally placid, sleeping baby will turn into some kind of poltergeist the instant we get on the plane. DH doesn't know it, but if she does, I'm going to say to the flight attendant excuse me, I've got a very important meeting when I get to Sydney. Could you please move me away from this man and his baby?

heh heh heh. I'm a mum now and mums PLAN AHEAD!

dd has struck again today.. her new brother ( 7 weeks today) was at school this arvo, when one of teh kids pointe dout he has a wnky head.. i was quite impressed as it really isnt that obvious, he has a form of hydrocephalus... which means atm one side of his head is .. well yes wonky.. this boy is in grade 3 and dd is in prep... after he voiced his opinion. dd promptly told him her bro may have a wonky head but is at least he is cute! unlike you who is ugly and always will be... go the prepie. she may get bashed next week...
brighton girl i cant find the scrummy mummy thread.. but same yummy mummy today was sporting a dress that nearly didnt covere her back side... by all accounts she had just returned from the gym... the what????? was my reply.. she didnt laugh.

sandcastles · 14/06/2008 05:26

Claudia has sent her horrible weather down to the Burbs....tis more than a bit wet & windy here!

Think it is just the weather to be staying in!

eidsvold · 14/06/2008 06:59

chloe - she probably stopped him in his tracks by answering him back.

MrsBigD · 15/06/2008 00:34

So I'm the big knuckle rapper eh? LOL

Finally in our new place and getting sorted. Slightly hindered by dd and ds coming down with some bug and having raging temperatures. But getting there.

Oh and thanks for whoever clarified 'Manchester' I'd been wondering that too!!!

Ninedragons, I would have used more than just rude sign re the agent! What a prat!

Chloeb2002... your dd will go far LOL

chloeb2002 · 15/06/2008 22:56

school today... will send dd in full battle combo.. think she should be safe very friendly school... normally! she pals in grade three she met this weekend so im sure they will prevent any hassle that i dont think will occur.
eidsvold... stopped and stunned.. it was clasic. i think he was going to cry!
and on a different note was has happened to the evening temps in brisvegas? had a barbie on sat night... after neighbours complained in the morning taht i was lighting that stinky old barbeque again! its not old .. it is a delux version with a wok burner.. not that i know how to burn a wok???? but still... evil anti social neighbours.. note to self will cook bacon adn eggs outside very day for the rest of the year.. still the weather... half our guests are other brits... and even they were inside huddled around the fire! come back summer PLEASE........

sunnydelight · 16/06/2008 04:51

You don't really expect your neighbours in Oz to complain about you having a barbie!!!!!!! You wouldn't even get the barbie lit in Sydney at the moment - I'm looking out the window at yet another day of rain. I WANT SUNSHINE.

MrsBigD · 16/06/2008 05:05

complaining about a barbie?!? Oh boy. We're in OZ ffs LOL

I will be the unpopular neighbour alright here, but hot because of bbq'ing... I have to canvas the neighbourhood to find out whose boat is parked on the curb outside our house. It was there when we moved in, but I'm beginning to feel like it's a big target for any burglar to case us out... you know 'have boat, are loaded, rob us'...

and then there is the neigbours dog... who's been barking for the last 3h. Think they let him out in the garden when they go to work and that's that.... argh
