Vancouver!

Oz has four in the top ten, Canada three, Switzerland 2, and Austria one.

I'm reluctant to say on here for fear of being decapitated over it, I found the italian parts of Switzerland to be much more friendly!

Nanou1 · 29/05/2007 10:57

lol scottish! death penalty has been abolished a few years ago now you go girl!

ernest · 29/05/2007 11:00

ooh I love Tessin/Ticino!!!!!!! Really really lovely. Was just there coupöla weeks ago. Nanou, you got all this to look forward to.

Nanou1 · 29/05/2007 11:04

i can't wait really but - even if it sounds crazy - i will miss london very much. have been living here 17 years on 4th June (that's when my love affair with the uk started!) and love it - apart from the state of public transport and cost . not at all sure i could ever go back and live in france tbh; uk feels more like home now.

admylin · 29/05/2007 11:05

Seems as though Australia must be doing something right to have so many mentions up top. Wonder what it is that makes those places stand out most?
I'm in Berlin and trying to get out as soon as possible so every job dh applies for in Australia and NZ or even Canada are like little lights at the end of a tunnel for me! (would still jump at the chance to get back to UK)

meowmix · 29/05/2007 11:08

the story is from 2005 though and i think there was a change this year... still no danger of (excessively) sunny doha making the league though!!

ernest · 29/05/2007 11:11

ScottishThistle · 29/05/2007 11:53

One of my friends started a position in Zurich a few weeks ago, I'm looking forward to visiting!

Good luck with your move Nanou, I hope it all goes well!

PetronellaPinkPants · 29/05/2007 11:59

Best for who though?

Surely it depends on a lot of things eg if you have kids, how much money you have etc.

Nanou1 · 29/05/2007 12:05

thanks scottish. packing is always the worst bit isn't?! or is it sorting out?!

3andnomore · 29/05/2007 12:16

The best place to live is where you are the happiest And that could be just about anywhere!

ScottishThistle · 29/05/2007 12:17

I find un-packing a dreadful bore to be honest!

3andnomore · 29/05/2007 12:17

Ad, how odd....I would love to go back to Germany...even though we are settled here and all that, but made the mistake the other day to look at a German Estate agen website and for what we paid here for our house (and we are at the very low end of the amrket) we could get a right palace in fabulous areas in Germany...hohum...if only dh actually could speak German....

ThomCat · 29/05/2007 12:18

The best place for me to live is surrounded by my family and my friends, so that's right here, in Greater London

MrsSpoon · 29/05/2007 12:19

I see the link at the side of the page says "Vancouver declares Tom Jones day" so it can't be that great!

mm22bys · 29/05/2007 12:19

Oops, sorry about the date! It was on the BBC front news page as being one of the most emailed - I didn't think it would be so old!

Agree that the best place to live is where you are happiest...

(Slinking away...I'll check the date before I link again!)

very happy for us thomcat ... where is that then!?

Nanou1 · 29/05/2007 12:22

oops! meant "you" not "us"

robinpud · 29/05/2007 12:26

Ghosty- there is a bit of an issue with water where you are, so guess that wasn't one of the criteria on the survey. Are you on stage 4 or 5 restrictions?

How's the settling in going?

ThomCat · 29/05/2007 12:30

nanou, I live in Pinner and my PIL live in Pinenr too with my my and stepdad and my dad and my best mate all no more than 10 min drive away. It's wonderful and even if Pinner isn't the most exciting palce or the most beautiful, esp compared to some of the lovely places you guys live, it makes me the happiest

Nanou1 · 29/05/2007 12:38

hey thomcat we are almost neighbours! am in ealing common . and i know pinner as a good friend of mine used to live there. well then you are very very lucky and i am for you. it is a rarety these days to be so close with family and friends; although in brittany where i come from it is very much like that and yes i do miss it!

ThomCat · 29/05/2007 12:51

LOL Nanou - I wasn't expecting that! xx

ghosty · 30/05/2007 05:10

Hi robinpud

On level 3 but should be level 4 really.
Settling in really well, am actually meeting someone for coffee on Friday ... so soon I can stop spending all my time on MN missing my mates in NZ hopefully

I like Melbourne, nice coffee, love the food shops - loads of Greek and mediterranean influence which I love ... need to do a bit more 'city' exploring but will get on to that when school hols start.

i've lost your email address ... would love to email you, drop me a line on ghostyandmeg(at)bigpond(dot)com ...

eidsvold · 30/05/2007 05:20

only level 3 ghosty - lucky bugger we are on 5!!
