Someone come and live on Waiheke...then they can look after ds while I chunder all day :( !

Frick, so sound like a very generous and loving person, and your dh is completely right. It could be very very different.
For instance, they could have someone like ME for a DIL, that'd learn em!

Hope Monday brings wellness BBQ x

Not feeling very generous and loving right now, after bitching to you all about PILs, my FIL has got a chest infection and is back on the ventilator. He hasn't left intensive care yet Sad DH sounded very shaky when I spoke to him this morning, he went straight to the hospital from the airport to see his dad. poor bugger had been awake for 35 hours by then though. DH sounding more himself now though, just spoke with him he is on his way to hospital again (it's morning there now).

AB, morning sickness? I used to carry Tupperware with me everywhere, especially in the car. It was either that or throw up everywhere

Poor dh :( will be a shock seeing a parent so vulnerable like that, I imagine.

Yes frick, morning, afternoon, and evening sickness :( oh, almost forgot, middle of the night sickness!

Oh no justa! Is it a pain thing or the meds?

Yes AB, I think that's exactly right, seeing your parent like that is awful. I am the sort of person you want around when there are broken bones and blood everywhere, I just don't have a squeam gene. But when my mom had cancer and I saw her in the hospital with all those tubes, I literally had to go throw up. It was awful. But it's not something you can adequately warn someone about. It's visceral. Anyway, DH definitely sounded more together so I think he's ok.

Do you normally get childsick AB?

OP posts:
Frikonastick · 09/09/2013 11:24

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

I just saw that I wrote CHILDSICK!!!!!

That's a Freudian slip if ever there was one Grin

I was thinking about how morning sickness feels like permanent seasickness and somehow that came out as childsick!

WhatSheSaid · 09/09/2013 19:09

I thought childsick was some quaint euphemism I had never heard before. Sounds like it comes from the Deep South of the States Grin

Sibble · 09/09/2013 19:56

frik it must have been a huge shock especially getting off a long haul flight and not feeling his best.

justa hope you're OK.

I have had some good news. DS1 (not sure if I posted he has recently been diagnosed with mild depression - by recent a few days before I had to fly to England) Anyway, school seemed to be the problem (?). I had applied as an out of zoner for 2 schools - well he got into our first choice. I had a call to go and see the head yesterday. As he's year 10 he doesn't have to go into the ballot. He got in on his application and school report. I am so relieved. Now have to get him over the hurdle of starting a new school and various coping strategies there....small steps!

And on another very funny note ds2 has made the Tongan rugby league Rep team! No Tongan blood but he has been spotted, they are short and he's in! Can't wait for the team photo.

Frikonastick · 09/09/2013 21:05

Sibble that's awesome! On both counts Grin

Yes, hope you are ok jsta

Hope your ok justa, that sounds exceptionally testing :(

Haha frick, yes, I do get childsick every time! I told dh last night that it was like sea sickness actually. So horrid.

Great news sibble :)
And hilarious about ds2 in the Tongan league! I too, would like to see that photo! Grin

We're making our offer today on the lovely house...fingers crossed!

Good luck on the house AB, very exciting :-)

Justa, my palms are sweating for you. It is much harder to be confrontational when you actually have a relationship with someone! Hope it all goes ok.

WhatSheSaid · 10/09/2013 00:34

Great news about the school Sibble (and the Tongan rugby team Grin)

Let us know what happens with the house AB. Are you going in with a low offer Phil and Kirsty-style?

How did it go with the principal justabout?

I'm normally quite stingy with the Marmite as it's $5 a jar but a friend just sent me a huge jar of it from the UK...it's Marmite party central round here at the mo...
