Good. Life is too short to be around people that point out your shortcomings (real or imagined) and make you feel shit about them. Especially when you are going to them for direction! Fuck that.

Vvv and I vote for nice nun! Lol

We did Hamilton zoo yesterday, it rained the whole time but was actually really fun. And hardly anyone was there which meant when they did a tiger face to face thing, DD and I had an awesome mesmerising eye to eye time with the tiger that seemed to last forever. DH was so enthraled watching us, he forgot to take a picture!

And today, we have house viewings to get along with. Wish us luck :-)

We are doing lots and lots of gardening

Are you looking for a house to buy or rent frik? good luck.

BBQWidow · 21/07/2013 05:42

I keep meaning to take my kids to Hamilton Zoo. We've never been.

We've had the most lazy weekend. Haven't really done anything...well I did clean yesterday, however today has just been zoning out. I think we've all needed it.

DH has the next week off with the kids while I work. He buys an extra 2 weeks leave each year so that he can do that every holidays, plus still have the compulsory close down time off that his company has over Christmas.

vvviola · 21/07/2013 06:12

We did Hamilton Zoo last year just after we arrived here. It was fantastic - and, incredibly for a lovely day during the school holidays, almost deserted. We must go back again now that DD2 is interested in animals.

We spent the morning up near Omaha Beach with DH's relatives (various aunts and cousins). They are all totally lovely, the kids had a ball, and we sat out on the deck drinking coffee in the sun in t-shirts!. I swear I nearly got sunburned! So much for winter! Grin

All in all we've had such a lovely week, that I'm even quite mellow about going back to uni tomorrow. Smile

Yep, to buy. Here is the one we are interested in

www.trademe.co.nz/property/residential-property-for-sale/auction-603510070.htm

But we would be putting a whole second floor on it. So have to get architect / builder to come and look at it next week to see if alterations we want to make are in our budget. So! We shall see.

Just heard about the quake. Wonder if Wellington's going to get a big quake like Christchurch, it's scary to think of it happening again on such a big scale.

Frikonastick · 21/07/2013 07:37

It was felt really widely - as far north as Cambridge and south to Christchurch, apparently.

I somehow managed to set my phone up to receive alerts of "strong" or "severe" earthquakes - I usually don't get anything for weeks at a time. The past few days it seems like every hour or so. My nerves are not helped by watching a programme last night that said "Auckland's volcanic field is classed as active, not dormant", and basically suggested the whole thing could go any second.

We've been putting off doing emergency kits. I think we might move them up the priority list a bit Blush

We did do a mini drill with DD1 this evening... and DD2 dutifully followed her under the table, stuck her bum in the air and went "boo". Which pretty much cancelled out any seriousness Grin

Sibble · 21/07/2013 08:29

frik love the house.

Very scary the earthquake. fingers crossed we are spared up here, have only felt one in 11 years

giantpenguinmonster · 21/07/2013 08:53

Hello From the Pacific. It's warm but cloudy here and today we went to the village fair where there was a crab catching contest. And a dancing competition competition where people tucked cash into the clothes off the children. Hmmm.

WhatSheSaid · 21/07/2013 10:20

Oh there was something like that when we were in Tonga. Dancing girls brought on after evening meal, doing traditional dances. I was also a bit Hmm

Frikonastick · 21/07/2013 10:24

Thanks sibble :-) trying not to get too excited until the numbers are crunched, but it could be a really special home. Here's hoping!

Hello-I am So jealous of your Frik looking at amazing houses like that. Do you want to see the house porn I have seen this pm?

www.trademe.co.nz/property/residential-property-for-sale/auction-610673349.htm

So that one was liveable but bloody huge knackered old many pool in middle of garden and the house was tiny. Would have to fill in pool and then build more house out back. Project and would be $200k on top ofnwhatbyoud have to pay to get it :(

www.trademe.co.nz/property/residential-property-for-sale/auction-611012750.htm

And then this one I walked round back and it was like the house of horrors so I couldn't even go in. This made me very :(

www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=615659418

And then I found my dream home but its in the wrong area so to speak (nice area but would mean moving schools and our lives really) and they said it would go for $1.2m+. I loved this house!

I haven't come on for a moan because I haven't been here for a while but feeling a bit depressed about my housing situation as we freeze in the old weatherboard with mouldy curtains. It's strangely warmer outside our house than inside?! In sad moments I feel like moving back to the UK as the housing heat here is just dire and these agents are scum. We almost bought 2 weeks ago but it was leaking and that would have been a whole reclad and we couldn't agree a price so another building report and run around for no gain.

so moan over as I have some sense of perspective. Frik- I am so sorry about your friend. You have had a really hard year with lots of things.

AB- I liked Waiheke when we went last weekend for DHs 40th. Had lunch at oyster inn and that was yum- lovely waitress too.

giant-jealous. I've had 8 days off work and have to go back tomorrow and dreading it. Drowning sorrows just now

vviola- love Omaha - glad you got great weather. This weekend has been amazing

so remember my mum? She is here now again but her DH left again after 6 weeks so she is on her own but at least up the road from me and with her cat who is back out for a second time. I could swing for him. but she says he is coming back at Xmas although I doubt he wil stay.

ps just about-tea does solve everything but I find Sav more effective :)
