My children have been remarkably good today. Nice playing, no (major) injuries for accident prone DD1, lots of giggles from DD2. I fully suspect they are up to some michief & lulling me into a false sense of security,

(I may also be night weaning. DD2 may be settling relatively easy and did 7 hours in a row last night Shock. Only 2 feeds in 24 hours - bedtime & naptime! But don't say it too loud or we'll jinx it!)

lollystix · 13/04/2013 12:33

Vviola - how old are your DDs?

DH has come in pissed. More work drinking - same as last night. We are like ships now with our work events that we have to attend. It is literally sucking the life out of me. Enjoy it n all- but I am losing touch. Friday DS2 asked me if I had to work and I said yes and then he said 'mummy we never see you any more' Sad. And he never has an agenda to make me feel shit so it must be bad. Sad

Frik - keep faking it. Like u say - you don't have much choice. Every day will be marginally less painful.

AngryBeaver · 13/04/2013 20:14

You'e dling well frick. I will read your fanny thread when I have more time.

lolly, you're house will come, my friend. And I hoipe work improves.

I am very pleased with my self.

I got quite drunk on fri night, felt very shit on sat morn, but STILL went training! I have found (and I can't believe I am saying this) that I like trail running!
Not road running, but through the bush.
Did some ofthe Wild Woman course. It's a 115m ascent.
Came back home with flilthy legs and trainers, and a wet foot (fell in a creek) and shaking...but felt gooooo!
Doing my bit for the community this am by stock taking at the Toy Library at 8.30-2!
Then dh leaves me for a week to go to Sydney (whimper)

Oh, and I'll be fooked if anyone ever convinces me to go camping!

Sibble · 13/04/2013 20:26

Yes frik - chin up etc.....

Lolly - the whole work guilt thing is horrible isn't it. ds2 asked me for a cuddle the other night, I said I had to finish my work, he said 'you are always working now and I don't like it'! I did put down my work and give him a cuddle and felt terrible but then the next day was even worse as I hadn't finished what I planned to do the night before. Not helped by studying as well at the moment, at least that should be over in a month. DH has another interview on Tuesday, so fingers crossed. I don't think it's sustainable.

And as for camping - no no no....however the dss who have never been are very keen so am thinking of caving in and taking them (just the once mind Wink

Trail running. Isn't that running, but with like, obstacles. So in fact even harder than just plain ole running? AB you win my friend. I think I shall hold onto my crown of laziest on the thread Grin

WhatSheSaid · 13/04/2013 23:10

Another no no NO to camping here. We've done a cheap bach with other people sometimes and it's worked out not much more than camping...$30 per adult per night...I'll take the TV, hot water, proper beds etc etc.

Another no to camping. I always look at the set up in camping shops and think 'surely for the cost of all this you could holiday in motels for about a decade?'. Plus I like an ensuite.

DH is back. I've been out to an event in Mt Eden and had a nap. He has now conked out and left me with a very overexcited DD.

Mt Eden is such a nice area. It's got a lovely vibe. Sometimes I feel quite out of place in St Heliers as it is really quite conservative.

WhatSheSaid · 14/04/2013 08:53

I lived in Mt Eden for 6 years, loved it. I remember how shocked we all were when a house on our street sold for $375 000. "That's crazy!" we all said. If only we had known...

vvviola · 14/04/2013 09:15

Well, the tent has been bought - for something like 60% off the original price. DH was talked out of the insanely massive tent & we had a very sensible discussion about not needing lots of the swish extras.

Tent will probably go away now until next summer, but as we'd had the discussion and the sale price was brilliant (especially when compared with similar tents in other shops) we decided to bite the bullet.

I'm regretting it already. Grin

Littlest - I like ensuites & my comfort too - so we have come to a very reasonable agreement that if it is too miserable anywhere we will decamp to motel swiftly. or I will and leave DH with the DDs

(Catching up on a few posts I missed)

Lolly - DDs are 5.5 and 19months. and DH is 40-something going on "big kid" Wink

Justa - yes, night weaning definitely seems to be improving behaviour, even though last night she still woke 3 times. It's also impacting appetite - she's like a bottomless pit, following me around looking for food!

AB - trail running sounds fab. Something I'd really love to try, although I suspect my knees would never forgive me.

Sibble · 14/04/2013 19:38

Forgot to mention - I caught the train into town on Friday, it is the first time I have caught a train (yet to do a bus) since we moved here! Very impressed, turned up on time, clean, empty and painless if rather slow and buying a ticket on the platform was slooooooow. Ventured Papakura to Britomart, doing a park and ride and back again to miss the rush hour traffic. Not practical in real life as it's quicker for me to drive but as a one off to save the pain of driving and parking when dh was picking the dss up - fantastic - nothing like commuting in London!

xMinerva · 14/04/2013 22:32

Hi all. Sorry not been around much recently.

A mixture of bad Internet, work and taking on more shifts, illness, visitors and birthdays. Been so busy.

I'm so sorry to read about your friend frik hope you are taking care of yourself.

Love the sound of trail running AB need to start squeezing in some exercise into my life soon. I did properly swim in the sea a couple weeks ago, was petrified (still am) but didn't want to pass it onto the dc so pushed myself as ds1 kept asking and asking.

Hope night weaning continues to go well vvv we've just had a few weeks of 11/12/1 & 3/4/5am wakings due to night terrors (ds1) and illness (ds1 & 2) and it completely wiped us out and definitely had an impact on behaviour.

I went on a train for the first time on Saturday. Only 3 stops but was very exciting. Lol

I LOVE camping. Ds1 keeps begging us to go but dp shudders just at the thought. Plus we haven't got any of the equipment we need so won't be going for a while yet.

Chill out day today, been so busy that today is the first day in weeks were we don't have to do anything or go anywhere so we're bedding down on the living room floor and watching a new DVD. I've even closed the blinds. That's a bit anti-social really isn't it. Blush

frikonastick · 14/04/2013 22:44

Oohhhh, it's been all proper rainy and stormy and windy here, huuuuge clouds.

Sibble · 14/04/2013 23:16

No xMinerva that sounds great, not antisocial - very appropriate for this weather. I have ds2 off school today - not sick just the effects of 2 sleepover parties at the weekend! He looked dreadful this morning so I rescheduled all my meetings and am meant to be working from home but am easily distracted by the internet and requests for cuddles in the sleeping bag - not good when I have deadlines to meet - but sitting here with the heater on, ds2 and the cat curled up on the sofa while it's raining outside is very nice.

frikonastick · 15/04/2013 00:13

Definitely cuddle weather :-)

So. Our container arrived on the 7th April. It is now the 15th April. And they are saying they might be able to get the stuff to us by the 21st April.

Am really really really fucking fed up now.

There are tons of kite surfers in the bay, mad bastards. Not only is it blowing gales (which, ok, I gets kind or the pre requisite) but it is POURING with rain. Really really really pouring.

thelittlestkiwi · 15/04/2013 02:59

Hope it arrives soon frik.

Have you seen the weather forecast? They are predicting a min of 13C on Thursday! FFS!

frikonastick · 15/04/2013 03:27

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUck. They just called, now they are saying the 27th.

I have the rage.

DH is being all calm and sensible and I want to throw things. But I don't have anything to throw!!!!!!!
