Arrgh, had to start a new thread!

Yes,you can get more land in Tauranga. Well, somewhere like Omokoroa or somewhere.Wouldn't want to live much closer than that. And I woulkdn't want to live at he Mount. Lovely as it is. Too touristy, imo.
We would like enough land for a pool (eventually) maybe a sleepout and still enough for a veggie patch and garden for kids. Don't neeed acres +. Wouldn't say no though,if we could afford it! Be nice to have a few sheep or something/

I think Mum would have to fly to Tauranga. So that would be
Manchester-London,London-Singapore, Singapore-Aukland,Aukland- Tauranga
Bad.

justa howws the back? Hope physio was a help,we may have driven past you!
Your house sounds great.
My mums friend lives in Silverdale. She has about an acre with some sheep etc
Wasn't overly impressed at but didn't give it a proper look I suppose, just stopped to buy flowers for Mums friend! Always worth another look

Noooo... Just wrote a long rambling message and the internet ate it. Then wrote a shorter one & the internet ate it again. Angry

Summary:

  • where'd the sun go?
  • Minerva I found the nappies, and you are v welcome to have them
  • my MIL claims to have found a way to cure food allergies in 2 weeks Hmm
  • I will be visiting her the weekend of 11 Nov & maybe this weekend if AB wants to meet and keep me sane Grin
xMinerva · 17/10/2012 21:54

Yes, where did the sun go? This rain shows no sign of letting up does it? Just as soon as it stops, it starts again.

Those nappies will be very much welcomed vvv thank-you. Hopefully we can meet up soon and buy you a bagel to say thank-you. And on that note, curing Food Allergies in 2 weeks? Would love to know all about that. Hmm

She sounds like a fantastic woman Grin

Ok I'll go down the list...
meerkate ah, she'll be fine. It will probably be an adjustment, but she'll be the interesting new kid at school..all forrin and mysterious! So she'll be dead popular!
wss oohh, thanks for that, I'm away for a browse in a mo
mineva eyw, poor you that bug sounds horrendous. Glad you are getting over it. Poor you, hope you had some TLC x
vvviola Ohh, is your MIL a magician?! How intriguing! Let me know when you are thinking, I think this Sat we are going over to Tauranga, but can plan to be atound on the 11th?
And now, the important one..
justa, I will confess I am not very well up on this subject. I am aware of the "spectrum" Aspergers and the lower wnd and Autism at the top? So, if ds3 id moderately autistic, that is halfway beween the two?
What will that mean for him? The other boys are at the low end of the spectrum I take it?
Sorry to ask lots of questions. Hope you have had a big Wine or 4 2 Smile

OP posts:
AngryBeaver · 18/10/2012 08:44

Such bad typing! sorry, autism at the lower end

OP posts:
AngryBeaver · 18/10/2012 08:45

and a big Wine or four two, doh!

AngryBeaver · 18/10/2012 09:24

Oh and I think it was minerva that said about your skin? My skin was awful from when I stepped off the plane. I don't know if it was the stress, or what but it was terrible. I have recently purchased this www.dermaroller.co.nz/ and this www.amazon.com/Hyaluronic-Acid-Serum-100%25-Pure/dp/B003MJ7Z0O/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1350548421&sr=1-1&keywords=hyaluronic+acid
It has improved no end...even dh has noticed and asked me to get him some

Bloody hell justa - hope you are getting your head round this slowly...I guess the fact that there are at least two spectrum (spectra??) means that he could be high-functioning despite having autism rather than Asperger's? 'Happy and interactive' sounds positive, after all...Lordie. What a lot to come to terms with. Hope you are getting the help you need and that it's proving easier in NZ that it would here...from what you say it's been broadly better, I think? Am glugging wine with you in spirit (even though it's just after lunch here). Keep us posted. (Just been up in the Malverns walking with a friend whose son is dyslexic and who is chasing a statement for him - WHY are these things such an infuriating and life-sapping battle in this country?!)
hope everyone is fine and don't tell me it's RAINING AGAIN Shock it's lovely and autumnal here but the rain is closing in as I speak, sigh!

Sorry, we are having problems with our connection. I keep typing long messages and then lose connection...infuriating!!! justa I sort of understand. So, what will the future bring? And are you able to access more help for ds3?
Hope you are alright xx

meerkate It is absoloutely pissing it down spitting Wink

I went to check our mini lop and found it's cage was sodden. I couldn't leave it like that so cleaned it out, and gave it dry bedding etc then pegged a tarpaulin over the top of the cage to keep her dry...all while it was lashing it down. I was soaked to the skin. i am too soft! Bloody rabbit!

Thanks for those links AB will try that. I'll try anything at the moment.

Sorry to hear of your news justabout. I've no experience of anything like this so no advice but hope you get the support/help you need. Happy for you to give this afternoon a miss if you're not feeling up to it but we'll be in anyway if you do.

Off to check out the playcentre this morning, not sure if it's right for us or not but won't know until we try I suppose.

meerkate · 18/10/2012 21:11

AB - I feel your soaked rabbit-related pain - for years I was a slave to our Sodding Guinea-pigs (since, obviously, the kids lost interest in them after about 24 hours) and constantly found myself changing their Sodding Hutch in the rain, in the dark, with a Sodding Head Torch on. Infuriating. I finally managed to inadvertently freeze our last remaining one in minus 17 two winters back...still feel (slight) residual guilt over that, I must admit. But oh the FREEDOM Grin

AngryBeaver · 18/10/2012 22:54

Yes dominerva, honestly, there has been 99% noticible improvement,I am thrilled! And they are really cheap too, always a bonus!

Yes justa has been hideous here today, but then the sun comes out for 30 mins, and then it starts again. Don't know whether to chance putting the washing out.

meerkate Shock at the -17! Where on earth were you living?!

Had my first test resuklts back, looking good so far. Levels are going the right way...I don't know how I am going to cope after the CVS though. I was all anxious this am waiting for these reults, and they were nothing much! Waiting for the Important Call, will be absoloutely agonising

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 19/10/2012 00:30

AB When can they do the CVS, is it about 11 weeks? Will you have to come up to Aucks for it or can they do it in Hamilton? What are you now, 7 weeks? < I know, questions, questions, questions!>

AngryBeaver · 19/10/2012 05:01

It's between 10-12 weeks. And yes, they no longer do fetal medicine in Hamilton, so I will have to come up to Aukland. I am just really worried that my placenta will be posterior again and they won't be able to do it. That would mean I would have to wait until I am 15/16 weeks for an amnio, which would be awful. I am 7 weeks today!
Just sewing dd's Pippins badges onto a sash, it's going to take me ages, she seems to have earnt a ridiculous amount in a very short time!

OP posts:
shelscrape · 19/10/2012 10:16

Well done little miss AB on all the Pippins badges!

The trial went OK - convictions on 7 out of 8 charges for one and acquittals on all for the other, so a moral victory for the prosecution I think. And I did not get shouted at once by the judge Smile

First day of the cricket season tomorrow, so no more Saturday lie ins until April while I cheer on DS and his little team. Have a great Labour weekend everyone

vvviola · 19/10/2012 11:34

One of those days when being away from home sucks.

My brother is in isolation in hospital in Perth. They don't know what's wrong ("some sort of virus maybe"). Found out about 10 last night, was talking to Mum as the texts came through.

Can't get hold of Mum since to see what she knows/thinks (and share with her that I've spoken to him via Skype). Sad

There's also quite a bit of facebooking going on by others SIL so I want to make sure mum gets information directly not 3rd hand through random cousins who have read it on FB.

Grrr. Families...

longwhitecloud · 19/10/2012 14:25

vvviola that is tough. Yes it sucks when people are sick and you feel so helpless. Hope your brother is okay and that you manage to speak to your mum. Big hugs to you.

Well done shels!(shouting judges sound scary!) Boo to no Saturday lie in's, but let's at least hope for nice dry weather for you to cheer in!

Oh dear vvviola, I hope your brother gets better soon. That must be really hard for you to be reading about it on fb, bit insensitive of SIL?
Maybe she is just trying to keep everyone informed. But difficult if your Mum is not being kept in the loop. Hopefully you will get in contact with her soon xx

Congratulations AB on your wee bean, I hope s/he grows strong and healthy xx

I saw on the Christmas Bargains thread that M&S is doing free delivery to NZ at the moment - thought I'd give you lovely expats a heads up in case you were interested :)

CarterGirl · 19/10/2012 23:16

Hello, I hope it's ok to pop in here. I was looking for advice on how to cope live in Christchurch and was given a suggestion to join this thread.
Anyone here in Christchurch? I'm leaving Kent to be in Chch for three months shortly- and am hoping will be able to find lots of baby groups so I can meet people, but not sure what sort of state the city will be in after the quakes?- last time I was there a fair few community-type buildings were shut etc.
It's pissing down Autumnal here, and am getting a glimmer of a desire for a nice NZ summer at least!

AngryBeaver · 20/10/2012 00:22

Cheers kiwi (not "seen" you for a while!) Fingers crossed. Thanks for the m&s tip, but I think wss pipped you to the post (do you see the pun,do you see??!!)

Hey cartergirl,
I'm afraid I have no knowledge of Chch. I think they have done a bit of rebuilding, but wouldn't know about groups. I'm sure someone will be more helpful than me!

In other news, the hormones have kicked in.
DD was watching 101 Dalamtions whilst I got ready. I was doing my makeup in the bathroom when I heard the bit where the baddies break in and steal the puppies? The old house keeper runs around screaming " 'Elp, ohhhh 'elp! They've taken the puppies!!'Elp police, sombody,' EEEELP!"
TEARS came to my eyes because she sounded so distressed! Actual.tears. Blush
