So Belgian MNetters, shall we have an Xmas Meet Up?

I mean a proper one, with frocks, food and no small children?

As I recall, no-one is tied to the house with tiny ones....feel free to beat me with Witloof if I am wrong...

I am at work all the time, so better to leave a daytime meet up to someone who is free in the day....

But we have Xmas markets, log fires, genever and a multitude of exciting places to meet up. What do you think?

That sounds good to me. I tried to sort something out when we lived in Switzerland unfortunately there was only two of us who lived centrally.
Not so sure about the frocks though, I don't have one. Will jeans do?

scaryteacher · 15/09/2010 08:17

Fine, but cancel the frocks Porto, I do skirts or trousers!

Am committed for the weekend of 3/4/5 Dec with no escape.

Portofino · 15/09/2010 08:18

Actually - I don't have a frock either...jeans are fine with me...

Portofino · 15/09/2010 10:15

LongtimeinBrussels · 15/09/2010 10:17

Yes but I'm still waiting for that curry!

Portofino · 15/09/2010 10:35

I am rubbish I know! I will send an email this very minute! I am free at the weekend, or what's left of this week.

Just a quicky as off to bath ds, but 18th sounds good to me! Are we thinking daytime, in which case I would have to bring ds, but evening would be child free. Could do eve of the 17th too, in fact would be better for me...

Hello Kreecher Smile We haven't 'met' but I've seen your name around Smile Where are you living?

Portofino · 15/09/2010 21:37

Must send a link to this thread to the email list I think. I am hoping to bribe natation out of hiding with promises of chocolate and wine, as she is sooo knowledgeable about everything...Grin

So - where should we go? Is Brussels the most central place? I'm half way between Brussels and Leuven and entirely flexible.

I think we have people in Brussels, Tervuren, Leuven, Antwerp, Waterloo, the countryside south of Brussels....

scaryteacher · 15/09/2010 22:09

Evening of 17th end of term for us.

Porto, would that be Bertem way then? Not far from me in that case.

scaryteacher · 15/09/2010 22:09

There's a decent Indian in Overijse....

Portofino · 15/09/2010 22:39

Hah! We have an offline curry discussion going on at the moment!

LongtimeinBrussels · 16/09/2010 08:20

Ooh, porto, I don't think natation will want to meet me Grin!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/09/2010 10:48

Anytime before the 19th for me. I can travel. Moneybumsmum, we are just outside Antwerp and living the dreamGrin

Portofino · 16/09/2010 11:09

Shall we say 18th then? Ooh how exciting! Any venue suggestions? Longtime, you're veggie aren't you?

OP posts:
belgo · 16/09/2010 16:22

Yes 18th dec is fine!

monkeybumsmum · 16/09/2010 17:02

18th great Smile We could always do Krishna again (curry in Overijse for those that haven't heard of it) but then I s'pose it wouldn't be too christmassy would it!

Belgo, been 'out of action' for quite a while due to bereavements Sad Will be lovely to see you again and everyone else too!

belgo · 16/09/2010 17:29

I'm so sorry to hear that monkeybumsmum. I hope things are getting better for you.

belgo · 16/09/2010 17:29

Oh and curry sounds great!

LongtimeinBrussels · 16/09/2010 17:37

Ha, ha, kreecher, I just read your profile. I take it you like smoking Wink! You're obviously no longer in Switzerland if you want to come out with us!

Yes, porto, I'm veggie. That's why curry's great for me :)

RuthChan · 16/09/2010 18:46

Hello everyone!
Sorry I'm late! (As usual)

This all sounds marvellous.
The 18th suits me fine and I could certainly go for a curry from Krishna. Monkeybumsmum has told me before how good it is.

And by the way, am I allowed to wear a frock just because I don't often get the chance?
It'll be nice to have a christmassy excuse to dress up a bit, even if it is only for a curry!

Portofino · 16/09/2010 21:08

Curry at Krishna, Overijse planned for Tuesday 5th October (I think...? ) If anyone would like to do that too! I was going to send an email but haven't got round to it yet... Blush

Portofino · 16/09/2010 21:14

Ruth - frock certainly acceptable. And we can all be in awe of your vertiginous heels! Wink
