Update on bugger, DH has cancer

About this time last year DH was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in the bowel with secondaries in the liver and in the words of his oncologist, chances of recovery, survival etc were slim but they were going to give it a go.

It's now a year on, he has had 10 doses of chemo, a procedure to enlarge his liver so that they can then take half of it away and finally a month ago his bowel tumour along with 23 lymph nodes removed.

He is still very much in recovery stage and will have more chemo later this year but the fact that we are here is amazing. I have had some lovely support from fellow MNers who have been through this, going through this or just supporting and for that I am truly grateful.

So thank you all and onwards and upwards

Hi Dorset not sure if you are on holiday yet but just wanted to check and let you know the handhold is here for when you need it.

So thought I would update. What an amazing holiday, lots of family time, DC's got to do some fab things, DS is a natural at waterskiing and DD coped really well despite having ASD and struggling at the beginning, snorkelling with Dad was her thing, good food, lots of drink, and hot.

So back now, got through Christmas, battling now with tax credits as they have massively overpaid its for last year and have stopped them completely, not my problem if they take 5 months to complete the review. That will be an MP job to highlight it. DPD have lost both attempts to get DC's joint present so battling that one as well.

DH had first lot of chemo on Wednesday and is coping really well with it, he still doesn't looks f he is dying. I have booked a couple of nights away for his birthday just me and him and then we are going to London with DC's in the half term. so booking things a bot ahead bt not massively.

Anyway Happy New Year to you all

So glad you enjoyed your holiday Dorset it sounds fab. Sorry you have come back to annoying, mundane things but try to keep that yummy-food-water-skiing-snorkelling-hot vibe going. Also hope you have fun seeing in the New Year and with all your upcoming plans with the family.

Thanks, Five

Your holiday sounded lovely and hope you've been able to make progress through the stuff of this vile disease, (and the bureaucracy).
