Your favourite LGB film?

I am pretty cautious about films featuring lesbianism these days, because I got really sick of the dead/doomed lesbian trope.

However, there have been some wonderful films lately and I feel I have a top three.

1. Portrait of a lady on fire
2. Ammonite (best sex scenes on film, imo)
3. Brokeback Mountain (for the scenery as much as the gays)

Anyone here got a favourite they'd like to share?

Pride is beautiful- funny and heartbreaking

Ammonite was awful! The sex scenes especially, the whole film was bloody joyless!

Oh yes - that's wonderful for lots of reasons.

Ammonite's sex scenes were easily the sexiest I've seen in ages. I find so much lesbian sex either ludricrous (Blue is the warmest Colour comes to mind) or too soft-focus to be actually sexy.

I genuinely think the film is a masterpiece. 😊

Sweetheart (the 2021 film) was great.

I just couldn't work out how Charlotte found Mary fascinating when Mary barely said a word to her.

Call Me By Your Name is so beautiful. I watched it on a plane and cried an embarrassing amount.

Imagine Me and You is an adorable classic romcom.
Desert Hearts is now quite old, but I love it and it's very moving.
But I'm a Cheerleader is daft but fun.
Saving Face is lovely and has a great ensemble cast (so it's a gay storyline with other good supporting subplots, which is rarer than it should be).

I'm embarrassed to say I assumed you were spamming with a porny sort of film - because of that title! But I googled, and oh my goodness - that film looks really interesting. Incredible actors in it, too. Thanks for the recommendation.

Disobedience is well worth a watch!

It really is an amazing and beautiful film. Be warned though - I cried buckets!

The first If these walls could talk has the same premise - three stories based in the same home over three generations. Not a lgb film but about abortion in USA through the ages also highly recommend.

Also a fan of if these walls could talk 2.
